  1. 3 days out know and slowly learning the difference between a sip and a drink--drinks hurt! i'm also having pain all in my belly, now that the on-q is gone--especially where the drain was placed. now it just a big ol hurtin hole. i guess it could be worse though--i don't have a fever or anything, and i chose lortab elixir over morphine so could be away at least a little while each day :) anyone else having all over belly pain and drain pain? i have to keep reminding myself that it's only been 3 days, so i'm not really worried yet, just tre uncomfortable...

  2. Surgery was 2/9, so i'm 2 days out. The gas pain in my belly is pretty killer, but other than tha, i guess i'm okay. Tired, and ready to go home, but hubby brought the ipad over last night, so i thought i should check in. Pardon any typos, my eyes and fingers aren't matching up too well...i think it's the drigs ;) but i'm sleeved--yay!

  3. Thanks alexandra--be sure to keep checking in! In terms of my pre-op diet, I've done really well--no cheats--but I'm sure that's largely because I can eat Protein Bars, lean meat, salad/vegetables, eggs, cheese, and nuts if I get hungry beyond Protein Shakes. This weekend was harder than I expected, what with my in-laws being in town, eating out, a chocolate cake, and cooking/baking for 5 people. I actually got a little weepy for a minute yesterday--which felt really weird (like, why am I crying, and dang, I really do have a relationship with food!) and I wasn't even hungry! It was just that I couldn't have what I wanted and everyone else was partying it up...oh well, I made it through and I feel good about that. On Wednesday, it's all Clear Liquids, though. I'm sure that one will be a challenge! Looking forward to being around lots of food and not wanting most of it! :)

  4. Just wanted to share that I went to my consult with the surgeon today and was scheduled for 2/9! :woot:So now I'm really excited and nervous--ish just got real! Ok, now I have to be about the business of telling my parents and brother, and in-laws (well, I know I don't have to tell people, but I will). The in-laws will be here this weekend, so I'll be doing all of the cooking and none of the good eating :) It'll all be worth it though--yaaay!! :Banane09:

  5. Hey there--my consult is tomorrow too! I think people on this site do an excellent job of answering questions, but you may want to ask a few that are specific to your surgeon if you don't already know. Some stuff seems to vary depending on the doctor. Here are a couple of things:

    --expected time in hospital

    --anticipated length of surgery

    --timeline for introducing different foods

--rules about medications/vitamins (size, which are ok, etc)

--post op testing for leaks (some docs do this, some don't)

--what to expect the day you arrive at the hospital (might help soothe some anxiety)

--visitation rules (if there is someone who would like to spend the night in your room--is that allowed?)

--will you be given an on-q pump or drain that you have to remove yourself? (eww!)

I can't think of anything else right now, but I'm sure my mind will be racing tonight! Good luck, and congratulations on making it this far! Do tell us when your date is--we might end up being sleeve twins! :)
