    Any December 28th sleevers!

I'm having mine December 28th! Gotta be at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC bright and early at 5:15 in the morning!

Congratulations! I'm having mine done on the 28th as well!

    Surgeons in North Carolina

I'm a patient of Dr. Bruce. He works with Dr. Tyner and Dr. Enochs in Cary, and also in Burlington. Great surgeon, always takes great care of the patients on our floor (we have all the bariatric surgery patients on our floor).

    Sooo Sick Of Protein Shakes!

Ugh, I think I'm one of the only people on the planet who does NOT like bariatric advantage. To me, the chocolate is like drinking thickened, weirdly flavored Water. I'm a Bariatric fusion girl all the way.
  5. I was in the same situation. I had gotten approval for bypass and a little over a week (yes, you read that right, a WEEK) I changed my mind. My date ended up getting pushed back a week or so because of waiting to hear back from the insurance company about it and then I ended up rescheduling it for later this month since I was going to be starting clinicals for school 8 days after surgery, and didn't think I would be ready. So, here I am less than 3 weeks out from surgery AGAIN and excited and nervous as hell again. Good luck getting yours switched!

3 Weeks To Go And Nervous.

I could have written this post, word for word. I'm having my surgery the 28th of this month and I'm having a lot of the same feelings as you are. This whole thing is not nudging, but SHOVING me out of my comfort zone, and being a creature of habit and liking my routine and such, it's an uncomfortable process.
  7. Ok, so my original surgery date was scheduled for the 30th, and had to be rescheduled because I ended up with a nasty cold and a fever. I was hoping to be rescheduled for today, but the earliest they could get me in (with some serious rearranging of surgery schedules) is this Thursday. The mental stumbling block I'm running into is this: I'm a nursing student and have my first 12 hour clinical day for the semester on the 18th. A whopping 9 days later. I'm wondering if it's realistic to expect that I will be feeling up to doing a 12 hour clinical day in that amount of time, or if I should seriously consider rescheduling? I know that people heal at different rates, etc, and think that overall I'm a fairly fast healer, however I'm also concerned about getting my fluids in. I do NOT want to get behind on my fluids that early in the game. I would appreciate some input, even if it's to tell me that I was crazy to let them schedule me that close

    Question About Timing

Hah, yea...I have a tendency to do that. I guess I just wanted to make sure people's feedback would coincide with my own thinking.

    Question About Timing

The first day is always a crap shoot regarding what we're going to be doing. Depends largely on the clinical instructor, and I've never been with this one before. Most of the time though, and at this point in the game it's likely that we'll be taking 2 or 3 patients and doing total care for them, passing meds, doing IVs and foley catheters and stuff if needed. Unfortunately, it's not possible for me to keep a bottle of water with me because of hospital policy. I work there as well, and we're NOT allowed to have food or drinks outside of the break room at the nurses' station, etc.

    6 Months Of Waiting :(

That's one of those things where you'll hear different things from different people. I was originally told that they go by your initial consult weight when making the determination. However, when I faxed in my last month's paperwork from my PCP for the diet, she did call me to tell me to make sure not to send anything else in with a lower weight, since I was right on the 40 line, and I don't have any co-morbidities. You might want to call your doctor's office or insurance company to clarify with them.

    Question About Timing

Unfortunately there's no moving the clinicals around. I have a 12 hour clinical day every Saturday for 8 weeks. And I do value it...I worked way too hard to get into nursing school and I don't want to mess this up now, when I have 281 days till pinning. I was thinking that it was too ambitious, but my crazy self said "yes! I can do the 9th!" when she called to tell me. And really what it comes down to is that I'm afraid I'll be much too tired and won't get my fluids in. I guess December will be my new sleeve month!

    6 Months Of Waiting :(

I know it probably seems like forever to wait right now, because I felt the same way, but for me it FLEW! One minute it's December and I'm thinking I will never be done, and next thing I know I'm at my last visit and a few days later paperwork was submitted to the insurance company. Then I had to wait for the actual surgery date since I had a required summer class till July, but that flew too. Just really focus these 6 months on changing some habits and renewing your relationship with food. It's a lot to wrap your head around.
  13. I'm interested to hear people's replies to this. I was kinda wondering the same thing, even if I'm still pre-op. :-P Won't be too long though till I'm 3 weeks out.

    Stall Advice Needed

Congrats on the loss so far and breaking your stall! Another thing to keep in mind: have you kept track of any kind of measurements? I'll see a lot of people on hear saying their weight isn't dropping, but their inches are. Just a thought

    Carnival Rides

Congratulations! That's an awesome feeling, I'm sure. I'm soooo looking forward to going to an amusement park again post op. I LOVE roller coasters but haven't been in a long time, cause I know it would be a tight fit right now, if I did fit. :/

    6 Months Of Weigh Ins?

It depends on your individual plan. My UHC plan did require a 6 month physician supervised diet, whether that was with my PCP, a NUT, or some other doctor was up to me. Call the insurance company to find out specific requirements for your employers plan.
  18. Great thread! I'm getting sleeved on Thursday, the 9th, and have been contemplating what to take.

    Obamacare

    Thank you!
  20. I was told that they go by the initial consultation weight, however my coordinator did tell me when I was sending in my last month's paperwork for my diet to make sure NOT to send her any paperwork with a weight lower than that I had recorded for the last month, since I was right on the 40 line and without any co-morbidities. Luckily that wasn't an issue since I didn't have any more paperwork to send them!

    Obamacare

As far as I understand it, you will have coverage with your dad's insurance until your 26th birthday. I'm in the same spot...I'll be 26 in March.

Free Tummy Tuck At Burn Unit

One of my friends works at one of the major university hospitals here with a BIIIIG burn unit, and she had heard about this. She's looking into it for me for down the road.

    B12 Shots At Home

Sometimes I'll notice later in the day, sometimes it'll take a day or two. It varies for me. Generally though, I always feel a "boost" from them.
