  1. I know my feet grew as my body grew!! I used to be a size 4 and before surgery I was wearing a 6. I am 4 weeks post op Wednesday and my feet are starting to swim in my go to pair of shoes. I was kind of happy that my feet were a little bigger, because I usually had to wear kid shoes and if I wanted to wear a pair of heels, I had to stuff the toes. Not comfortable. But if smaller feet is a price I have to pay to be healthier, so be it.

  2. I went to my informational seminar in October and had surgery on the 5th of March. It would have probably been soon but due to the holidays, I had to coordinate to get my clearance appointments (cardiology, upper GI,pulmonology, phsycologist) around the holiday breaks. I have Tricare Prime and it was actually pretty easy. I got approved on the first submission.

Good Luck. You are taking the first steps to a healthier you.

  3. Hello My fellow GB family,

    I have a couple questions

    Question 1

I will be 4 weeks post op on Wednesday and we are heading to Orlando for spring break for 5 days next weekend. We aren't going to any parks but we will be in a hotel room with no kitchen, so cooking is kind of out of the question. What are some WLS freindly restaurants that offer foods that are low carb/low fat/low sugar. I am in stage 2, which is soft foods that I can cut with a fork.

    Question 2

I am constantly thirsty, and sipping just does not help. I've started sucking on ice chips. Does anyone else do this and is it ok?

    Thanks family!!

  4. Need to find out if anyone else is experiencing this. I am 3 weeks post op today. I will be drinking (sipping) my Protein Shake mixed with Lactaid milk and then I will take another sip and I get these awful cramps in my pouch that lasts for about a minute or two. Happens when I drink my watered down gatorade too. I ate some runny oatmeal just a little bit ago and then it happened again after eating a little bit. I called my surgeon yesterday and have gave me a prescription for something to coat my tummy but it e doesn't help much. Could it just be a sign my pouch is full??? Anyone else experience something like this? I go for my 3 week post op appointment tomorrow morning, so I will ask but just wanted to know if anyone else had input. Thanks

  5. Sounds like everyone is doing great!! Surgery was March 5th and I am still sore in the belly area. Been walking but it hurts after about 15 minutes. I went back to work yesterday and by the time I got home I was so tired and sore I had to lay down and I slept for two hours!! I see the nutritionist on the 27th and I go to my stage 2 foods, which is anything I can cut with a fork. I've been good with my Vitamins, and sipping Water and watered down gatorade (G2) all day long. I am down 19 pounds, so I am very happy about that.

  6. I've been using lactaid milk and I do well with it. I had surgery on the 5th and been getting my Water in ok, but a lot of things are making me gag. Even the smell.

Greek yogurt with the lactaid is good, and oatmeal that is really runny was really good. The nectar Roadside Lemonade is also tolerable. That's about all I can tolerate for now. Gas is still kicking my booty though!!! I also still have to take the pain meds.

  7. Surgeons office submitted my paperwork to my insurance on Feb 21st late in the day. I can check online on my status and it showed up on the 24th as pending and I it was changed to approved this morning the 25th. The surgeons office was even surprised they got the fax that quickly. They said they usually have to wait awhile. Good luck to everyone waiting for insurance approval-sending good mojo your way!! :)

  8. WOOHOO!! Insurance has approved my 5 March surgery date!! I am all set!!........Holy it's happening batman, it just got real!!

I go this Thrusday and Friday for Pre-Op counseling, then I meet with the surgeon on Monday and Tuesday I go to get my PICC line inserted and surgery on Wednesday at 8:30 AM. I have to be there by 6:30.

Butterflies are starting to take root in the belly!

So glad this group is here, and we can all lean on each other for support!!

  9. At first I wan't even going to try because I figured my insurance (Tricare) wouldn't cover it, but I said what the heck. It was just a few minutes of my time and the worst that could happen is that they say no and I've only lost a few minutes of time.

My shipment is on it's way! I get the Protein, chewable Vitamins (insurance didn't cover liquid) and scar cream.

    Thank you Insure Nutrition!!!

  10. I am so sorry for all the issues you are having to deal with. You've taken a great first step by letting it out and talking about it. It's good news that your pouch hasn't stretched. My suggestion would be to address the depression with your doctor. Water aerobics may be a good exercise and less impact to your injuries. I will be sending prayers for you.
