    March 2014 Surgery!

Hi Armywife!! I am having my surgery on March 5th. I am so excited, nervous, and just ready to begin a new healthier life. I am also an army wife. I am going through Tricare Prime and it has been a pretty smooth process. I started in September 2013, so 6 months from start to surgery date. Not too bad. Some folks on here have been going through the process for over a year. Where are you located? I am in Georgia, just south of Atlanta. I am 39 (40 in April) and I am 5'2 1/2" tall and weighed 234 at my last appointment at the end of January. Good luck!!!!!
  4. My date is the 5th. I am also 5'2" and a half as well. That 1/2 inch really is important!! Lol . I weighed 234 at my last appointment in January. I stay off the scale at home so I don't know what I way now. Good luck!!

    March 2014 Surgery!

They didn't tell me that I had to go on a pre-op diet but to start working on sipping water and getting protein in and taking my vitamins.
  6. I got the call on valentines day for my surgery. I will be having the surgery on March 5th at 8:30 am. I have to go on the 3rd at 11:00 for my Pre-op appointment with my surgeon and then on the 4th I have to go at 3:00 to get a PICC line. Did anyone else have to get one before your surgery? Can you explain why it is needed? I am so excited and ready but the nerves are starting to kick in now that I have a date!

    New to the site

Welcome! You will find so much good information and really wonderful people. I am 39, 5'2" and weigh 234, so our stats are similar. I started the process in September 2013 and will be having surgery on the 5th. I documented all the things I did to lose weight and all my medical issues, went to a seminar then went and talked to my doctor. She was super supportive. Support is so important and a surgeon you feel comfortable with. Good luck!!

    questions, questions questions!

I also have Tricare Prime South. I've completed all the clearances and just waiting for my surgeon's office to call me and give me a date. Last update, they haven't received my lab work from Novemeber, so I am hoping that it has been faxed to them by now. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    I tried zumba!

I LOVE Zumba! I was going a couple times a week, but had to stop due to severe joint pain. Once I have my surgery and lose some of the weight, this will be my go to exercise for fun! I can't wait!
  15. Thank you. So quick and easy!!!

    Lots of questions! Lol

Good Luck on your journey. I have Tricare (Military dependent) and had to show 3 months of MD documented wieght management, which my surgeon told me about in December, even after I called the insurance and they said it was not required. Fortunately my doc is super supportive and used my October, November and December visits to document. I LOVE HER!! All I have left is my GI appointment on Monday, my last weigh in on Wednesday and my Phych appointment on Thursday and a support group meeting on Saturday. Then I play the waiting game for the surgeons office to ensure I have all my clearances and to submit to the insurance company. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can have surgery in January or early February. I am sooooo ready!! I started the process in September, but the last 4 months have really gone by quickly, even though when I started it seemed like it would take forever!! The 6 months will go by quicker that you expect.
  18. What a great accomplishment!! Congrats!!

    Raided my daughters closet...

ooooh, I can't wait til the day I can turn the tables around and steal back my clothes from my daughter. I gave her several of my jeans and tops from before I got fluffy and I want them back!! LOL.

    Let's talk about massage...

I can't get massages either because my back is so tender in many areas. It is so painful and absoltely no enjoyment for me. Try Hot Stone massages and make sure to let them know to only use the stones to massage you. I am still pre-op but just wanted to share about hot stone massage.
