  1. Happy 46th Birthday herestolosingit!

  2. I've had a few sips of beer and of soda. It hurts most of the time. I ordered a beer a couple of weeks ago when I went out with a friend. I was really bummed when I had one sip and it was so uncomfortable. I'm not a big drinker, but I would really have liked a beer every now and then.
  3. That's a tough one, being around people who don't know you've had wls. Try not to drink too much. Like you said, your brain will cease to function. I've eaten too fast and too much when out with friends and felt so sick afterwards I couldn't enjoy the evening. You don't want that to happen.

Sometimes I think they should have banded my brain, not my stomach!

What A Strange Thing To Miss....

I've struggled with that so much. It's very frustrating. I really shouldn't be going out with people who don't know I'm banded. I just can't stop myself sometimes and then I feel sick or pb. It's not a good thing.

Hi Everyone, I posted a week ago that I was too tight, turns out I was just stuck. I am still getting the hang of this band. I finally ate some papaya enzymes and it made all the difference. I'm scheduled for my first fill tomorrow. Don't know if I'll get one, but I'm going in so I can talk to the doc. I feel like there should be so much more follow up for the lap band after surgery. It's a whole new world and it is confusing sometimes. These message boards help a ton, but it seems like the doctors should take more of this burden on. Grace.

Hi Everyone, Haven't posted in awhile (banded Jan 3). I'm doing ok, but not great. Unlike many of you, I have lots of restriction. I got the small band, maybe that has something to do with it. I pb all the time. It is a blessing to not have restriction in the beginning so the process is more gradual, I think. Be grateful for it. I am losing weight (about 20 pounds) but haven't gotten into an exercise groove yet. Finding myself a bit depressed I think. I need to get motivated to do more work, get on here more often, I think. I need to take a more active role in this process. I can't seem to get excited about yogurt and eggs any more. I have to figure out better, more normal options for food that won't get stuck. Some times I am so tight in the morning, I can't even get a bite of yogurt down without feeling somewhat stuck. By the end of the day it's worked itself out, but I am still trying to figure this all out.

    Anyone Not Feeling Negative?

I haven't had that experience. Go on the Jan. bandsters site. Everyone's pretty positive so far.
  9. Hi Everyone, I'm new to all this. I was banded on Jan 3. I am exactly one week post op and am recovering fairly well. I'm ready to be recovered, but I know it's a process. Two more weeks of liquids is not looking too apealing, but I'm committed. I have about 80-100 pounds to lose. I doubt my ability to do this, but if I follow the rules, I know I'll stay on the right track. Has anyone else ever doubted their ability? I have failed so many times on my own, I have real hope for the first time, yet that old voice in my head keeps bothering me! Grace.

It's been exactly one week now, and I'm getting tired of the recovery mode. I'm feeling much better and not taking pain meds any more, but I still am healing. The next 2 weeks of not eating are going to be tough. I went to costco yesterday and bought several different kinds of soup that I will thin with chicken broth and then strain. The sweet taste of the protein shakes is unapealing. I've only been getting 2-3 down each day (instead of the 4 I'm supposed to). I feel like my life is on hold right now. I've got to get out of that frame of mind and start living again. It will be easier the more recovered I feel.
  11. Good luck. Get some GasX!

Post-op Day 3: Brought To You By The Letter S

You seem to be doing great. I was banded on Jan. 3, and don't feel too well still. Finally off the pain meds, but still feel sore, and like I was kicked in the gut. There's a Jan. Bandsters group, if you haven't joined, you should. Just look for it. Hope you get to do the play. It's a great one!

I had surgery on Jan 3. Just ran out of pain pills so I'm on my own. I haven't started exercising yet, but am getting some walking in. I have to go to the store to get some milk of magnesia, if you get my drift. I feel ok, but looking forward to continued healing. Having trouble getting all my liquids in as well. My goal for today is to get all 4 shakes in and 64 oz of water. Glad to see everyone doing well.

    Is Anyone Else Getting Nervous?

Hi All, What a nice site for sore eyes. I was starting to feel alone in all of this. I haven't told many people. I was banded on Jan 3. I started getting really nervous the week before, but the day of surgery I was not at all nervous. Go figure. Recovery has been ok, I don't feel great, but it could be worse. I've been taking an anti inflamatory and oxycodone. Nothing for gas pain. Get something! It is painful and also very strange. Today was the first day that I was actually hungry...actually starving. It's partially my fault as the idea of drinking protein shake after protein shake is somewhat nauseating. I'm drinking those, chicken broth that I made from scratch and skim milk in the form of lattes. The idea of no food for 3 weeks is getting to me. I am looking forward to the next phase of this journey.
