I May Be Allergic To The Band...
Nope. My breathing problems happened the day after surgery. My surgeon thinks they need to go in my lungs and suck them clean (gross I know).

I May Be Allergic To The Band...
I saw the surgeon yesterday. He said that even if I ended up allergic to silicone, in a few weeks my body will form a waxy layer between the band and my stomach making a reaction impossible. He said it will be highly unlikely my band will be removed! Phew!! According to their scale I'm down 40lbs since 1/13/12! My breathing is still compromised though. I have an appointment with Allergy and Pulmonary on Friday. Wish me luck! Thank you all for your support and encouragement!!

3 Weeks Post-Op
I was so excited to have scrambled eggs tonight! I am not a huge egg fan, but the thought of eating something that wasn't a liquid was all I needed. I cooked the egg and I took one bite, that was all I needed! I have been so nauseous! I can't even stomach Water at this point. My nutritionist said that my strong aversions towards foods with soft consistencies would be a tough hurdle. Does anyone have any ideas of foods I can eat that isn't yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese or tofu? My husband recommended purée Mac and cheese but I didn't think that would be a good choice. I welcome all suggestions!

I May Be Allergic To The Band...
I don't want surgery to alter my anatomy. That is why I went with the band.

I May Be Allergic To The Band...
I had my surgery last Monday (2/13). On the following Tuesday when I woke up in the hospital, I started wheezing. They just assumed it was due to the anesthesia. I stayed another night, and was sent home. A day later I couldn't breathe. So I went back to the hospital, had a CT-scan and xray, and was given a neubelizer and inhaler. They just said I was full of mucus. The treatments were working well, but werent getting rid of my wheezing. So today I woke up, felt like I couldnt breathe. I was sent to Pulmonlogy and was told that it sounds like I either have asthma or I was in anaphylaxis. I had to have a Breathing test which should I have mild obstruction. I have a latex allergy, and the band has no latex in it, but it is made of silicone and titanium. 2 weeks prior to surgery I was given a CPAP machine with a silicone mask. I woke up with 4 blistery sore on my face. So...now they are thinking the wheezing is part of my body have an allergic reaction to the silicone. I was put on prendisone to hopefully kill the wheezing, and I see my surgeon next week to discuss this further. I will be devastated if after everything I put in to this, to have it removed will kill me. Anyone here of anyone needed the band removed due to allergies?

Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder
I got the next business day.

Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder
I ordered Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder because I was having a hard time drinking the powder with milk. According to the info it says it's almost hidden in juices such as Crystal Light. Good Lord! For one...it is the same consistency of the vanilla powders, and it made my juice all foamy and thick. I guess it's better than nothing, but now my Lemonade Crystal Light taste like I added medicine to it! Does anyone have any protein shakes they swear by?

3 Days Post-Op!
I am glad to say that I just transfered from the Pre-Surgical forum to the Post-Surgical site. I am very excited! I just got banded on Monday, and the surgery and recovery for the band went great! I did end up having breathing problems, but it was nothing major, I just had to stay an extra night. I can't to chat with you all! Amanda

Feb. Bandsters! I Just Got Home!
So I just got home! My surgery was Monday. I was supposed to be home yesterday but I began to have trouble breathing. They found that my lungs filled with mucus and it was affecting my breathing, so I had to stay one more day. No biggie. I was so surprised about how there was little to no pain after surgery. They kept giving me Vicodin every 4 hours even if I didn't feel like I needed it. It was awesome. However, yesterday when I staretd to coughing a lot, I needed 2 because I was super sore! I just wanted to share with all of you my experience! I hope everyone else has experiences as smooth and painless as mine!!! Yay!

Last Supper
I didn't know we knew each other so well! I decided not to be "reckless" and the comments about how people had last suppers was more helpful, than your advuce above. I don't mean to be "snarky" and "pissy" but I wanted to hear experiences not a full lecture about how I am not ready for this life change. I am glad that you lost so much weight, I hope that I can be as successful, but your comments feel like judgements and not supportive advice. I think I will take a break from lapbandtalk for awhile because the "support" isn't that supportive, well for me anyway. I hope everyone keeps doing well, and keep up the good work! I hope when I come back in about 5 mths I can say I lost around 70lbs too!

How Long After Surgery...
I recieved my appointment in the mail for my post-op appointments, and I am not even seeing anyone until over 2 weeks after surgery. Is that normal? I thought I was told I would be seen a week after to make sure I was healing alright, but I am not going back until 2 weeks. This is strange to me. I can't exercise until I see the staff again, so I can't for 2 weeks, then I don't see the Nutrionist again until 8 weeks after. Is this all normal? I figured the month after surgery I would have check-ups to make sure things were going alright. What has everyone else done?

Last Supper
Thank you. I just wanted to see what people have done. I didn't post this topic so I could get responses telling me why I was on the liquid diet and what my doctors want. I know all of this. I just simply wanted to know what people did. If you weren't on a liquid diet at all, then you don't need to tell me that and that you had a a meal. I feel like the last few things I posted, I just get back a lecture when I just want a simple answer. I am sorry if I sound a little harsh and pissy, but I just want to know if people did or didn't.

Last Supper
In addition, I didnt say I wanted pizza or chinese, I actually want some baked chicken breast on lettuce leaves. I don't think my post stated I wanted bad food. Hm....

Last Supper
It's not I feel like I will miss foods, I think I just wanted to eat something since I have another 3 weeks of liquid after. I guess I knew the answer, I just wanted to see what others have done. I have lost 21lbs in less than a month so in my head I was thinking what would it hurt. I guess thats how I got fat in the first place! I just hate that other get to eat the whole time up to surgery and some (like me) are liquids only. <big sigh, pity party for me!>

Last Supper
I feel like I know this answer, but I want to see what others have done and/or plan to do. My surgery is scheduled for Monday and I am doing fantastic on my liquid diet. I don't want to binge eat, but I just want to have one meal that I can chew and swallow and enjoy before surgery. I may even go sorta healthy. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences? I was planning on doing the meal on Saturday.

Just What I Needed!
I got on the scale this morning, and lo and behold....I lost 20.8lbs! I just met my first goal I gave myself, and I haven't even had surgery yet! I can't wait to get my perfume to reward myself!!!

Does This Really Work
I do the same thing. I try to order a meal that has meat, veggies and a starch. Then when they bring the meal, I ask for an extra appetizer plate. I put what I am going to eat on the smaller plate, then I ask for them to wrap up the rest when they come back to check on the meal. You don't feel like you want to finish all the food if it is out of sight! Out of sight out of mind!
