  1. I have been doing pretty well since surgery. I don't feel any restriction but I am really strict with how much I eat, so I am still loosing weight. For lunch today I had 3oz of canned chicken breast with a tbs of miracle whip, exactly what I had yesterday. Not even 15 minutes after eating, I thought I was going to die! I was having EXTREME stomach cramps, and was doubled over! Luckily I had my prep period (I am a teacher), so I had no students in the room. I literally ran down the hall, and luckily I made it! I never felt anything like that ever! I got a little nervous, so I called the dietician and she said I just experienced Early Dumping. She said I probably ate too fast and it just went right through! It was crazy. I just laughed! She told me if it happens again I needed to call her because it can cause problems. I was so scared to eat dinner, but I got my 3oz of lean hamburger in tomato sauce down, and no dumping! Geez the stuff that happens without warning! Just thought I would share!

    Dumping...yikes!

I agree with you. I don't think it is what I ate, since I had it in previous days. I just think the time and how fast I ate added to an experience I will never forget!

    Dumping...yikes!

I am just repeating what I was told by a medical professional, but I guess there are other opinions! I was just sharing a comical experience. Oh well!

    Dumping...yikes!

Well it is ladies! Straight from the dietician's mouth!
  6. Good Morning! Today I am finally able to chew food!! I am having ground been in gravy for lunch, and I couldn't be happier. I am trying to broaden my food choices, so I bought some tuna and canned chicken breast. However, I always so used to eating it on a toasted sandwich with pickles and chips inside for crunch. I am one of those people that need my food to crunch. I obviousley can't do the toast and chips, but do you think I could put the tuna or chicken on a cracker? I know people have said crackers and bread are hard to eat after banding, but I figured if I only gave myself like 4 crackers, and really chewed it to mush, how that would be. Any thoughts?

    Cracker Question...

I did the lettuce leaves with chicken and onions, instead of tortilla shells for fajitas! It was so good! That is a great idea. I actually went out and bought some celery. I totally forgot about celery in chicken and tuna salad. That should give me just the crunch I need! Thanks everyone!

    Cracker Question...

I'm off of mushed as of today. I followed the diet profession to a T! I am just looking for a good crunch to add.

How Long Was Your Hospital Stay?

I had to stay one night, but ended up staying two nights because I was having breathing issues.
  11. I am definitely not! I saw the surgeon and an allergist, and they said its 99% impossible for me to be allergic to the band, so it will not be removed! Phew! I hit 40lbs yesterday since 1/14/12, so I was so nervous! However, my breathing issues haven't been resolved. I went back to Pulmonary yesterday, and I am still wheezing pretty bad after being on inhalers, nebulizers and steriods. They said my lungs may have been injured during the surgery when the anesthesia tubes were inserted. I was given another round of steriods and I go back next Friday. If I am still wheezing, I will have to have a camera inserted into my lungs and see if there is any damage or blockages or masses. This kinda freaks out seeing I will be awake! They said if they find anything, I will have to be put under so hopefully my body just needs an extra week of steriods! Anyway...thought I would share since so many of you were concerned and so supportive when I initally posted. Thank you again!
  12. 40lbs!!! Hell yea!

  13. I had my surgery last Monday (2/13). On the following Tuesday when I woke up in the hospital, I started wheezing. They just assumed it was due to the anesthesia. I stayed another night, and was sent home. A day later I couldn't breathe. So I went back to the hospital, had a CT-scan and xray, and was given a neubelizer and inhaler. They just said I was full of mucus. The treatments were working well, but werent getting rid of my wheezing. So today I woke up, felt like I couldnt breathe. I was sent to Pulmonlogy and was told that it sounds like I either have asthma or I was in anaphylaxis. I had to have a Breathing test which should I have mild obstruction. I have a latex allergy, and the band has no latex in it, but it is made of silicone and titanium. 2 weeks prior to surgery I was given a CPAP machine with a silicone mask. I woke up with 4 blistery sore on my face. So...now they are thinking the wheezing is part of my body have an allergic reaction to the silicone. I was put on prendisone to hopefully kill the wheezing, and I see my surgeon next week to discuss this further. I will be devastated if after everything I put in to this, to have it removed will kill me. Anyone here of anyone needed the band removed due to allergies?

I May Be Allergic To The Band...

Nope. My breathing problems happened the day after surgery. My surgeon thinks they need to go in my lungs and suck them clean (gross I know).
  15. Feeling fantastic!

I May Be Allergic To The Band...

I saw the surgeon yesterday. He said that even if I ended up allergic to silicone, in a few weeks my body will form a waxy layer between the band and my stomach making a reaction impossible. He said it will be highly unlikely my band will be removed! Phew!! According to their scale I'm down 40lbs since 1/13/12! My breathing is still compromised though. I have an appointment with Allergy and Pulmonary on Friday. Wish me luck! Thank you all for your support and encouragement!!
  17. I was so excited to have scrambled eggs tonight! I am not a huge egg fan, but the thought of eating something that wasn't a liquid was all I needed. I cooked the egg and I took one bite, that was all I needed! I have been so nauseous! I can't even stomach Water at this point. My nutritionist said that my strong aversions towards foods with soft consistencies would be a tough hurdle. Does anyone have any ideas of foods I can eat that isn't yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese or tofu? My husband recommended purée Mac and cheese but I didn't think that would be a good choice. I welcome all suggestions!
