I Attended a seminar a few weeks ago and have a consult with the surgeon scheduled for the 17th. After meeting with him, I'll meet with the dietician. What should I expect during the consult?
Will it consist of testing?

That's great! I can imagine that with improved self esteem, you are excited to be noticed and don't want to just blend in anymore.... How exciting!

I've decided to get out every day and do something wonderful. I go to the pool and do exercises' date=' I go to the art museum, or to the Japanese gardens, or I go shopping for new clothes. I've changed my hair style, letting it grow longer and experimenting with new, more youthful ways to wear it. I wear darker nail polish. I've completely changed my wardrobe, now wearing bright colors, clingy clothes and cute shoes. We still go out for meals but now enjoy eating half of it and taking the other half home. I'm also always looking for something we can do together, like musical performances and interesting exhibits. With all this new energy, I'm enjoying my life and my retirement more than ever. Thank you Lap Band![/quote']Wonderful! It's so exciting to hear the many positive changes that come as a result of weight loss.

My husband and I were banded on the same day which was a total blessing. We have added a lot more exercise to our days. I've actually started getting up at 5:00 am 3 days a week and going to the gym before work. I'm too the point now where I hate missing the gym. It's still hard to keep pushing through work outs' date=' but actually going there on my own is a huge behavioral change for me.My husband and I rarely eat out anymore. We used to eat out at least 3-4 times a week. We find ourselves walking a lot more to get extra steps in (thanks to the fitbit) And if we go to the movies we eat popcorn... but we don't eat a meal in addition to that.[/quote']
Thank you for your response! My hubby is getting gastric bypass and I'm getting the lapband. We are excited to be going through everything together! I'm looking forward to it!

Wondering if, as you've lost weight and adopted new behaviors related to eating/exercising, if you've also changed other behaviors? If yes, what did you change?

That makes perfect sense---thank you!

My hubby has his first consult in a couple of weeks. Insurance has already been verified. Thoughts on how long it might be till the Big Day?!
-
Any hints or tips to share?
-
If you don't mind me asking, how much weight have you lost?
-
Wow!! You are my inspiration!

I haven't noticed anyone talking about bananas. Any issues with them? I was thinking that a ripe (soft) banana and Peanut Butter might be a satisfying lunch. Thoughts?

Congratulations!!! How wonderful! I love the pic......definitely going to do that with my hubby when we both get to goal.

Haven't been banded yet, but I so relate to your lists! Here are a few of mine....
1. Sit on any chair, anywhere and not have the slightest hesitation or anxiety.
2. Have family pics taken....too terrified that I'll look like a whale, now.
3. Take my daughter to Disney and each and every ride
4. Wear shorts and wedges...a look I love
5. Go out with the girls and not feel like I stick out as the "fat one"
6. Make my husband drool (he loves me, but I want him to DROOL over me)
7. Have a 2nd child and a nice round belly I can show off, along with cute maternity clothes.
......And so much more!
-
His might be a silly question, but does the port become noticeable the farther along you are?
I haven't been banded yet, but once I am and have lost the weight, I look forward to getting PG for a second time and having a beautiful round belly.....but will the port show?
-
Not having been banded yet, I was thinking yesterday about how much I look forward to actually using the robes at luxury hotels. One-size-does-not-fit-me, but it will one day!!!
AND the towels too!!!!

Okay banders! I'm curious to know what you are eating.
1. How long have you been banded?
2. What did you eat today?
-
For those who have been banded, how much time off work did you take to recover?
-
What physical limitations were placed on you after surgery? I'm particularly interested in lifting restrictions, as I have a 2yr old at home and can't imagine it ring able to pick her up for weeks.
Approved!!!!! Uhc

Awesome! How long did the process take before you were approved? I have my first consult next week and have UHC myself, so I'm curious!
