    Went For First Fill Today!

Glad to hear it went well! I have my first fill tomorrow. I'm trying not to think about it too much! Hopefully it will go well!
  2. Next Friday I will be at the 6-week mark and ready for my first fill. I know that things vary from practice to practice, but do I need to call and schedule my first fill or will they call me? It occurred to me that I might have to call because it seems do many banders who havent had success because they haven't maintained an optimum fill level.....leading me to believe that it must be the responsibility of the patient to initiate fills. So, did you have to schedule it or did the office call you? Thanks!

    What Your Non-Health Reason?

I want to be free to do whatever I want......ride any ride at an amusement park, sit in the middle seat on an airplane, ride in the backseat with 2 friends,-------to never have my size cause me to pause about living my life. I want to dress in clothes that reflect my fashion sense and not be required to pick the least offensive items at LB. I want to get back into singing/acting.....as the weight crept on my self-esteem plummeted and I backed away from performing. I've never been an average size and am excited about the types of roles that would be available to me if I was.
  6. That's so frustrating but they just don't know. I agree with the previous poster.....I am eating better and smaller portions. I'm more active too and that is the Gods honest truth.
  7. Hi guys, Just wanted to check-in. I'm 5- weeks post op and down 20lbs. I haven't had a fill yet. The scale has been stuck for about 1.5 weeks, so that's a little frustrating. I get hungry but wouldn't call this phase "hell". I stay at about 1000 calories a day and do my best to get my Protein in. Wish I was losing more....sometimes I forget I even have the band. If I eat too fast I do get stuck, but that's probably the only change I've noticed. Other than getting full on a lot less! I hope the scale starts moving again....on Monday I'm part of a fitness challenge at work, so i expect that will help. I want to get below 200 so we can start trying for baby #2. That's 65 pounds away......seems too far!!! I guess I'm feeling a little down even though I know that without the band, there is no way I'd be down 20 lbs......the plateau really sucks and comparing myself to some of the amazing success stories is defeating as well. Wah, Wah, Wah---right? :-)

    First Fill

Hmmm I thought most doctors required liquids only, the day of the fill? Some I've heard have you do liquids for 48 hours, then mushies. What did your doctor advise?
  12. So easy, so moist and delicious!!! 1 pound ground chicken (or turkey) 1/4 c. Franks Red Hot Sauce 1/4 c. Grated Parmesan cheese Makes 8 small patties. Coat pan with nonstick cooking spray and cook on medium high heat, approx 7 minutes each side. So yummy!!! Enjoy!!

    Weight--Running

Thanks! I'm trying to determine when I should start trying. I was think right around the 200-mark, so I've got quite a bit of weight to drop before then! I don't want too much impact on my joints.
  15. I'M not on anything right now. Would prefer to not go on the pill.....I hate the pressure of having to take it at the same time every day for maximum effectiveness.....

    Workout Question

When was the last time you met with your nutritionist? You may be eating "healthy", but your portions are probably too large and a nutritionist can help you review what you should be eating and how much. All too often we think the food we are eating is healthy, when it really isn't. Restaurant salads, for example, are ridiculously high in calories and most people think of a salad as "healthy". We also tend to underestimate the amount of food we are eating, as well. If you don't already, start tracking your intake through a web-based tool like MyFitnessPal or SparkPeople.
  19. My doctor says that is a very risky move. The procedure causes everything to swell up. If he "filled" the band there is a possibility that combined with the swelling it could close off completely. And since there is no way to predict how much a person will swell up from surgery nor how much restriction that person will need, it is a very risky move----one he'd rather avoid.
