    Hello Century Club (Pics)

Way to make it happen. We all hope to get where you are.

    Sleep Apnea Study

I was told sleep apnea is a comorbidity of obesity. That's why you have to be tested. Just like diabetes and high blood pressure. It was nothing to do with anesthesia.

    A Little Bummed

My doc told me not to even weigh myself until I was 2 weeks out (of course I did anyway). Your body is going through some major changes. Your weight will fluctuate. You've just had major surgery, you've started exercising and drastically changed your diet. Your body needs time to adjust to all this. The scale is not an accurate reflection of fat loss over such a short period of time. Be patient. This is normal. Hide your scale. Use a tape measure instead.
  5. The only thing I did was lick the flavoring off of a few tomato basil wheat thins about 2 weeks out. Then my dog ate the crackers and she didn't mind at all that I licked off the good part.
  6. Gatorade is great in moderation. But watch out for all the sugar. G2 is better but still not great, but it's certainly better than being dehydrated.
  7. Where you on any medication to prevent the gall stones prior to developing them? My surgeon put me on ursadiol. I'm hoping that will keep me out of trouble.
  8. I'm in the same boat as you. I work outside in the hot south Texas heat. It isn't easy staying hydrated. At 2 months out I can't guzzle water like I used to so I have to be more conscientious about drinking more often. It's a pain but it's part of the deal. If I get too hot my old instincts take over and I start chugging cold water. I can easily drink too much too fast. Can you wear a camelbak at work? It's a great way to always have water with you without taking time to run to the water cooler every 5 minutes. Either that or get a water bottle holder for your belt.

    Help! Bougie Size Questions. 46Fr

Yeah, I would think the surgeon knows better than anyone on here. His success rate should speak for itself. If you trust your surgeon, trust him to do what is best for you in the operating room.

    Constipation

I add a teaspoon of benefiber to my Protein shakes. I can't taste it but it does work.
  11. It may have more to do with using muscles you haven't used much. Most of us are working out harder now than we have in the recent past. If you're mostly doing one exercise, like swimming or elliptical or walking, and you're getting very sore you may need to do a little less of that and add in something else. I try to rotate everyday between biking, elliptical and hiking. Also if you are getting sore and achy use ice right after you exercise not heat. Inflammation produces that achy feeling and ice is the best thing to bring it down.

    Imitation Crab

What kind did you get? I've seen a couple of brands that have no carbs and good protein, but most of the ones I've seen are 3 to 1 carbs to protein. Not the kind of carbs I want to eat.

    Feeling Kinda Bad Today:/

At day 6 you might lay off the stool softener. There is nothing there. You aren't eating. It feels like you need to go but it's likely just gas. Walk walk walk. Best thing. And hang in there, it will get better.
  14. I always think of the old pyramid with its 6-11 servings of bread a day but only 2-4 servings of fruit. Is it any wonder the whole country is getting fat? Those high GI foods hinder weightloss and eventually cause diabetes. We don't need them.
  15. Why eat any whole grain or whole wheat at all? You can get in plenty of carbs without eating starches. Whole wheat still has a very high glycemic index. You are much better off eating legumes, broccoli and greens for your carbs. Think low GI carbs. But having said that, get your Protein in first. Egg beaters with a little cheese can be your new best friend once you start soft foods. I'm still having them for Breakfast everyday but somedays I add a little chopped up fajita meat them. Yum yum.
  16. To the responders on this thread....don't you think it might be wise to hear both sides of the story before you go suggesting to someone that they get a divorce or leave their spouse?

    Exercising - Sleeved July 2Nd

What did your Dr. tell you? At one week post op my doc just wanted me walking. Nothing else. By 2 weeks I could start cycling and elliptical, but at a relatively easy pace. I doubt there is a big difference between mall walking and treadmill walking....whatever you enjoy the most. I prefer outside.

How Often Do You Have A Bm?

I had to add some benefiber to my protein shakes. With all this protein I'm takin in, I wasn't getting near enough fiber and it made going very tough.

How Often Do You Have A Bm?

Once you start eating solid foods again they will come more regularly.

Ive Failed At My Pre Op Liquid Diet

You may be fine for your surgery, but you obviously have some food issues that you need to work on. Hey, you're not alone there, but you don't wanna have this kind of episode on day 3 after your surgery. You could really hurt your sleeve and yourself. Can you be sure this is not going to happen after the surgery? If the answer is no then you need to get some help and get your eating issues resolved before having surgery. Whatever caused you to have the panic attack needs to be addressed. Best of luck.

    Pre-Op Diest

The preop diet is the worst. Just keep your eyes on the prize. Imagine where you'll be 6 months from now. I'm 2 months post op and I'm down 50 pounds since surgery day.

    Uncooperative Pcp?

I wonder if he knows of any patients who died from heart attacks, strokes, complications due to high blood pressure, diabetes, heart and coronary disease....I'm sure he does.

May Sleevers How Much Have You Lost So Far?

Glad to see so many May sleevers doing well. For those of you who are frustrated because you are losing slow, have heart. Talk to your Dr. and NUT. They may be able to pinpoint something in your diet and fitness program that may help you. Also keep in mind, it's not always how much you are eating, but WHAT you're eating that can sabotage your weight loss. Sugars and starches are killers. Also, besides exercise, what other physical activity are you doing? An hour at the gym everyday is great, but if you lie around on the couch the other 23 hours a day, you are making it hard for your body to burn calories. Remember, you burn way more calories during your daily life than you do at the gym, or at least you should be. Try to up your BMR with more activity in your daily life. Take the stairs. Park at the back of the parking lot. Do more yard work. Ride your bicycle to work. Whatever pleases you. You can't fail unless you quit.
