anaesthesia problems

Well if you're opinion is that we should only post the sunny happy stories and never mention the negatives, failures or complications.... I have to disagree. That would make this website a total lie. In spite of the fact that everyone wants to get "support" from VST....it's still a huge research tool for most new people (whether that's good or not is another story) and it should reflect the whole ugly picture and not just the successes. -
2 weeks before plastics...evolving attitude about excess skin
Butterthebean replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Jane...you're gonna do great. I'm day 3 post op for my TT. I hate being in "recovery mode" again.....I was really feeling good physically before surgery. But there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't look in the mirror and imagine what I'd look like without this skin. I'm glad it's gone. And look forward to the day my recovery is over with and I can just get on with being the new me and enjoying the body I've built. You're gonna enjoy yours as well. Here's a pic of exactly half the skin they took.....sheesh. Double that....alot taken off. -

WTF? Is she not allowed to bring it up? Is it inconsiderate to mention things that didn't go well for her? I suppose the people with leaks, infections....even severe constipation should keep their mouths shut? -
Did you get your final drain out today?

anaesthesia problems
Butterthebean replied to Rocsi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same experience when I was 18. I had a severely broken nose. They had to operate to rebuild it....but I felt everything....but couldn't tell them. Worst experience of my life. And there was nothing I could do about it. It wasn't until later that I learned it wasn't just me it appended to. It's called anesthesia awareness. -
Just log your miles as often as you like. Everyday is fine if you want.

Does anyone miss being overweight?
Butterthebean replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think plenty of people miss food, but doubt many miss being fat. -
Oh jeezus.....some things you just can't unsee.

I love REI. But I think I've heard there's a minimalist shoe store in Seattle called Born To Run. -

You can look a the profile pics on a cell phone but not from the mobile app. You have to be on the full website. Then you just click on someone's avatar and you'll see their profile. -
Tummy tuck today!
Butterthebean replied to Butterthebean's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Well my pain level on day 3 is not bad at all. But I'm not able to move around too much so yes....I definitely need a bit of help at the moment. The worst is not being able to stand up straight. -

I'm feeling pretty good. But hate not being able to stand up. And I can't tell how much of it is this binder, the surgery, or stiffness from being in this position so long. How long till you could stand up straight? -

Butterthebean replied to *Dean*'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
They do help with it in the sense that your body will try to land on more surface area....meaning the whole mid foot....to spread out the impact. Having said that I land slightly on the outside of my foot still and then roll to the rest of it. This is just pronation and it's perfectly natural. -
Yes I believe you'd have to be on a computer to remove the pic.

I don't think there's another thread. I think you should stay and mentor as new folks come on. You've done great and made it look so easy. -
You can edit. Great pic btw.

Ouch. Well I'm having the same as when I didn't have a catheter....trouble peeing which tells me it's possible with or without. But I do realize trouble holding it would be worse.

Houston, Tx- plastics
Butterthebean replied to TheNewSusie's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I honestly don't know Susie. You should call his coordinator Sandra. She's great and very helpful. He came highly recommended to us by several professional groups. I see why now. He's great. Great bedside manner and has already called and texted me. Sad to say but my sleeve surgeon never would have done that.
