5 Things You're Looking Forward To!
Butterthebean replied to Raven21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
finishing a triathalon running circles around those 20-somethings on my softball team instead of being the old slow guy being able to wear "one size fits all" garments be outside with no shirt on and not feel self conscious live long enough to be a dirty old man....who runs marathons -
Susie, can you buy it at a store or do you have to order it?
-
I don't think you can do it from your phone if you have an Iphone like I do. But on a computer just go to your profile, then click on your non pic and download one.

Yep, basically it was a heated thread where an admin stated that no one on this forum was qualified to recommend anyone seek professional help. Gustavo obviously felt offended that he was being told what advice he could and could not give out on this forum. If anything transpired after that it was either behind closed doors or it got deleted.

Any Texas Gastric Sleeve Buddies?
Butterthebean replied to w2ben's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Anybody in the Houston area go to the support group meetings that hey have Memorial Hermann? I'm curious to go to one but I'd like to know what to expect if I show up. -
Yes we loooooove to kill us some turkeys. My neighbor has 2 that I'd love to kill every morning at 430....they are worse than roosters.

Happy Anniversary To Me
Butterthebean replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Way to go. I've been reluctantly buying clothes on the clearance rack because I don't want to spend a bunch of money on stuff that's not going to fit me in 6 months. Also, my wedding ring will not stay on at all, but same thing, I don't want to resize it...only to have to resize it again. You wouldn't think you're fingers would shrink that much. -
Yep he certainly contributed more than some of the tourists do.

Take a bite and put the fork down. It helps me to do something else while eating. If you're a nurse and eating at work, eat while filling out some chart or report or something. Take a bite, then write something...or type it in...not sure what you do. But then go back to the food for another bite. If you're at home, do a crossword, type an email...anything you can do in between bites.

Yes. If it's getting stuck you're not chewing enough. Learning to chew until the food was basically dust has been my biggest challenge.

I Was Sleeved 2 Days Ago
Butterthebean replied to going_down's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I brought 15 pounds of fluid home from the hospital. But they didn't stay with me but a few days. You're better off not even getting on the scale for 2 weeks. Nothing good is going to happen between now and then. You're not even burning any fat yet. In 2 weeks you will see a nice change. -
Protein Drink & 3 Meals A Day?
Butterthebean replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 4 weeks post op they may not be too worried about your calories because most people cannot eat too many calories at that point. I think it's par for the course to still have to drink some of your protein at 4 weeks. Later down the road you can probably get it all from solid foods. I still enjoy a protein shake every day as an in between meal snack to tide me over. -
Chicken Pot Pie
Butterthebean replied to slimmom24angels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you having some cravings? Just my opinion, but it's probably too early for chicken pot pie. Once you start solid foods the cravings will ease up. -
So what if I fill up on protein and then drink 5 minutes after....will I go into starvation mode? Answer....No.

Is it my imagination or are alot of people coming down way too hard on the OP? Personally, I feel nothing but compassion when I see a 300 pounder at a restaurant eating a big meal. I want to slip him my surgeon's number so badly, but I don't. But at work, it's another story. My coworkers are people I know and get along with. And the guys I eat lunch with talk about nothing else but losing weight and getting back in shape. Yet, they typically eat 1000 or more calories at lunch. Keep in mind, we have a very physically demanding job and we work in the heat so a big meal is not the best thing to eat around here. I know the calories because while they eat and talk about how healthy they are for only bringing a half piece of chocolate cake for dessert, I'm adding up their 4 pieces of fried chicken and 3 cups of rice on MFP just to see what they are eating. I don't share it with them, but I want to know because this is how I used to eat as well. The difference is, I didn't pretend I was eating healthy. The other day my boss brought a container of oatmeal raisin Cookies to work and called it a "healthy snack". I checked the nutritional information....1 of those healthy cookies was the same calories and carbs as 4 oreos. Wow, real healthy. These guys are kidding themselves. It's like the Tale of the Walking Wounded around here. Most of them cannot tie their shoes without passing out, and they get a serious injury checking they're email and end up on light duty for 6 weeks. Then spend all day talking about what studs they were in high school. The heck with high school, I'm 43 and I'm gonna run a 10K before I'm 44. So I guess what I'm saying is, it's not the gluttony that irritates me....it's the denial.

What To Order?
Butterthebean replied to chilihot59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would vote for a theater with no kids...or at least certain movie times where no kids were allowed....like after 10pm. -
But in a way, wasn't this all of us, until we decided to have surgery?

Nearly Two Month Stall!

If you are losing inches around your waist, but not losing weight, then you're muscles are gaining density from the exercise. Very likely scenario if you weren't exercising at all before. -

That's 4 pounds a week. I don't think you could expect to lose more than that. You're doing great.
