ByeByeBigGirl got a reaction from pussnboots in Sleeved Yesterday (2/6)
    Hi everyone,
I was sleeved yesterday morning and came home from the hospital today. Just wanted to share my story
First, I have to admit it's not nearly as rough as I expected. Of course it's still early but I hope things keep running this smoothly. I expected more pain and nausea to be honest. Nausea controlled well with dissovable Zofran. I do have lots of gurgles though and was so happy when I was able to burp LOL. I've had the hiccups twice. Not fun. Pain controlled well. Was on a morphine drip in the hospital since dilaudid gives me itchies, but apparently morphine does too. I've clawed marks all over my body. When I passed my leak test this morning, they brought me crystal light and chicken broth. After 2 tablespoons I felt like I was going to burst! So full. Switched to liquid vicodin for pain, drain removed, and home I went.
So far I've drank 1/4 of a Protein shake, which I find tastes funny and makes my mouth slimy, a few sips of Water, and right now I'm drinking some broth. Been home for about 4 hours and I've slept for 2.
So hopefully this will help my fellow 2/6ers and those still pre-op. Also gives me a reason to sit up for a while at the computer
Thanks for all of the support! Together, we can do this!!!

Did you have your sleeve early 2012? How are you feeling? How much have you lost? Any regrets? I was sleeved February 2012 and hit a plateau after losing 50 pounds in 6 months. I recently gained 10 back but have lost 5 of it in the last 2 weeks. My hunger is back so my surgeon prescribed phentermine. I took it before surgery with no problem. Now I can only take half every other day otherwise I'm too jittery. The size of my meals have increased. I'm still not eating as much as I did before surgery, but definitely more than I did the first year. Still can't drink cokes or carbonated drinks really, but don't want them either Red wine still burns as well as fruit juices. A small glass of white wine is ok. Still can't tolerate milk or a more than a kid size potion of ice cream, but I do eat and love my fair share of cheese. I didn't have any dairy intolerance prior to surgery. I can tolerate some beers, but try to limit them. I did lose about half of my hair within the first year, good thing I had a ton to begin with. I'd like to lose another 50 pounds at least, so my doctor told me to reset my body by doing the pre-op diet for 10 days and take it from there.

When I had ssimilar pain during the liquid phase, it was the way my sleeve was swollen. It wasn't exactly a stricture, but more like an hourglass. The liquid would pool on the top part of my sleeve, then hurt like hell squeezing down to the bigger, bottom part. It lasted about two weeks. I thought it was gas and even tried infant colic drops. Eventually it all evened out and I've been good to go ever since!

I don't get these 60grams ones, I was always told your body can't absorb more than 25 grams at a time no matter what so why do they make them higher?? So people that don't know this can buy them??

Hey 2/6 sleevers..I celebrated my 4 week post op today with a big ole turkey burger with french fries and a large sprite....Ha Ha Ha Just Kidding...lol lol ... I enjoyed my tiny helping of mashed potatoes. I had my Proteins and my liquids today. So I am satisfied. I have reached a stall point; I have been at 216 since last week. But I am pretty sure I will get back to losing if I just keep with the program. Just stopping by to say Hey to my buddies...GL everyone on your journey

    THERE IS NO HONEYMOON!!
Sorry, had to get that out. The first thing you need to do is shake the idea that you have a time limit or you're a failure.
The reality is that even at six months out you still can't eat but a fraction of what you ate pre-op. Your sleeve is there and it's in perfect working order. Once you're about a year out your sleeve is going to be as big as it gets.
I'm 19 months out and can only eat a few ounces in a sitting. I get stuffed on one egg scrambled with cheese or two ounces of steak.
Prior to surgery I was certain I would hit goal in nine months. After all, I only had 107 pounds to lose. I didn't realize it at the time but I was intentionally ignoring all of the posts about people that lost weight more slowly, had months long stalls or felt discouraged about surgery.
I hit goal in 17 months. The reality is that we all love the folks that make it to goal in 9-10 months but many more people actually reach goal sometime in their second year post op. I lost an average of just over 6 pounds per month. Is that discouraging? Maybe. The difference is that I GOT TO GOAL with the sleeve and never, ever got even remotely close on any diet. I never lost even close to 6 pounds a month on any diet I tried, and even if I had maintaining said diet for the 17 months it took to shed the weight would have been an impossibility prior to my sleeve.
Yes, it's discouraging. We want goal weight now. We had a drastic surgery and we want drastic results. We want to be skinny. Yes, we know in our heads that we didn't gain the weight overnight but darn it, we really want to lose it more quickly than we do.
The reality is that you just have to accept that your body is going to lose at it's own pace, no matter what you do. The good news is that your sleeve is going to stay restrictive and it's going to help you get to goal, even if it takes you 17 months like it did me. Goal is just as sweet when you reach it after nearly a year and a half, I promise.
As for your eating and exercise habits only you know what works for you, but I've posted a number of times about diets today and I think that if it's stressing you out you need to reconsider what you're doing. We want to be happy about ourselves and just being skinny isn't going to do that - we have to be healthy mentally and physically.
Best of luck. It's tough, I know. I had a journey twice as long as I wanted but I am thankful for every minute of it.

Oh, and you have to keep in mind we didn't gain it all overnight so it's not going to come off overnight. The scale might not be moving but use your clothes as a guide. You may be gaining muscle and losing inches. Besides, slower weight loss means less saggy skin Stay positive!

There seems to be an infamous three week stall. I personally just hit it and it lasted 3.5 weeks. Many supporters here had warned me and although you expect it, it makes you doubt if the sleeve is going to work for you. Keep doing what you're suppose to and your body will adapt and before you know, you will start losing. Eat your Protein and lots of Fluid and you will be rewarded. We all lose at different rates. For me it seemed the stall started when I went from liquids to solids. As if my body was in starvation mode and held on to everything I put in my mouth, once it realizes that you will continue to feed it, it let's go of the choke hold. This was a very depressing time for me, one night I just let it go emotionally on this very site and the next day I had lost. Good luck to you...

Having to alternate butt cheeks when sitting because when you sit too long your but bone starts to hurt because there's no cushion.
Finding yourself shopping at the Aeropostale $3.00 t-shirt sale, and you're the oldest person trying on clothes (my son was mortified because I was shopping at "his" store).
Wearing your 14 year old son's t-shirts and beaters to sleep in because they're baggy enough to make good night clothes.
Packing a week's worth of clothes for vacation in a small suit case because size 6s and 8s don't take up much room.
Constantly returning clothes because when something is labeled S, M, or L, you go for the biggest size out of habit when you know damn well it's too big for you...
Having a ton of clothes to choose from and sexy shoes.
I could go on, but as you can see, I'm "struggling" with my sleeve!

Thanks for the quick update and let me welcome you to the losers bench. Remember to sip often, rest as needed and walk as much as possible.
Slimies might be from too much to drink at a time. Try just 1 oz of liquids at a time, then wait 15 minutes. Use a shot glass to regulate if needed.
    Again, congrats on being sleeved!
