  1. Hi everyone, I was sleeved yesterday morning and came home from the hospital today. Just wanted to share my story First, I have to admit it's not nearly as rough as I expected. Of course it's still early but I hope things keep running this smoothly. I expected more pain and nausea to be honest. Nausea controlled well with dissovable Zofran. I do have lots of gurgles though and was so happy when I was able to burp LOL. I've had the hiccups twice. Not fun. Pain controlled well. Was on a morphine drip in the hospital since dilaudid gives me itchies, but apparently morphine does too. I've clawed marks all over my body. When I passed my leak test this morning, they brought me crystal light and chicken broth. After 2 tablespoons I felt like I was going to burst! So full. Switched to liquid vicodin for pain, drain removed, and home I went. So far I've drank 1/4 of a Protein shake, which I find tastes funny and makes my mouth slimy, a few sips of Water, and right now I'm drinking some broth. Been home for about 4 hours and I've slept for 2. So hopefully this will help my fellow 2/6ers and those still pre-op. Also gives me a reason to sit up for a while at the computer Thanks for all of the support! Together, we can do this!!!
  2. Did you have your sleeve early 2012? How are you feeling? How much have you lost? Any regrets? I was sleeved February 2012 and hit a plateau after losing 50 pounds in 6 months. I recently gained 10 back but have lost 5 of it in the last 2 weeks. My hunger is back so my surgeon prescribed phentermine. I took it before surgery with no problem. Now I can only take half every other day otherwise I'm too jittery. The size of my meals have increased. I'm still not eating as much as I did before surgery, but definitely more than I did the first year. Still can't drink cokes or carbonated drinks really, but don't want them either Red wine still burns as well as fruit juices. A small glass of white wine is ok. Still can't tolerate milk or a more than a kid size potion of ice cream, but I do eat and love my fair share of cheese. I didn't have any dairy intolerance prior to surgery. I can tolerate some beers, but try to limit them. I did lose about half of my hair within the first year, good thing I had a ton to begin with. I'd like to lose another 50 pounds at least, so my doctor told me to reset my body by doing the pre-op diet for 10 days and take it from there.

    Alcohol?

I couldn't drink until I was about 3 months out. We are all different. Wine and liquor still burn too much going down, but I can drink beer with no problem. And I do get drunk much faster, but I sober up within an hour or two.
  4. I stall about every 3 weeks for a week. To break it, I increase protein and water then BAM! 5 pounds falls off like overnight. Until I gain about 2.5 back and stall again....

I Am Terrified Of Losing My Hair!

I'm 4 months post op and shedding like crazy! I have very thick hair and lose about two handfuls a day. I can definitely tell it's getting thinner, but it's not coming out in chunks and I have no bald spots. I talked to my NUT today, and I am upping my protein from 65g to 80g a day, and adding Zinc and Biotin supplements. She said the loss shouldnt last long.

    Gas Or Something Else?

When I had ssimilar pain during the liquid phase, it was the way my sleeve was swollen. It wasn't exactly a stricture, but more like an hourglass. The liquid would pool on the top part of my sleeve, then hurt like hell squeezing down to the bigger, bottom part. It lasted about two weeks. I thought it was gas and even tried infant colic drops. Eventually it all evened out and I've been good to go ever since!

    Gurgles

Do the uncontrollable gurgles after eating ever go away? It's so embarrassing to accidently have a gurgle/burp fall out of your mouth when talking. If they don't go away, does anything help keep them to a minimum?
  8. The worst for me was the liquids and mushies phase. I couldn't wait to get back to normal. Other than that, no regrets. I love my new tummy. I cannot overeat, which was always my problem. I now eat to live instead of live to eat!

Happy One Month Surgiversary 2/6 Sleevers

I'm at a stall too for the past 3 1/2 weeks but feeling pretty good otherwise!
  10. I've been stalled for about 3 1/2 weeks.

    Getting In All Your Liquids?

My doctor's office told me it would be about a week before I could get all of my fluids in. I'm almost 6 weeks out and can only get about 30-40oz in.
  12. Happy Birthday! I will be 4 weeks on Monday and have lost 16 pounds. I try to walk 2 miles a day but just started that this week. I did stall for a week and the scale finally moved 1 pound this morning

    2/6 Sleevers Check In

I'm so sorry you're having such a horrible experience! Do you mind sharing what you're going through and what problems you're having?

    What Are The Foamies?

You can control it by listening to your sleeve and not overfilling it with food and drink. It only took one time to teach me!

9 Days Post Op And Only 7Lbs Down

Oh, and you have to keep in mind we didn't gain it all overnight so it's not going to come off overnight. The scale might not be moving but use your clothes as a guide. You may be gaining muscle and losing inches. Besides, slower weight loss means less saggy skin Stay positive!

9 Days Post Op And Only 7Lbs Down

Don't be discouraged. While I'm one of those down 15, I'm only 3 weeks out. I lost 10 in my first week and only 5 the last two. I've read a lot about stalling at the 3rd week while your body adjusts and guess what? I'm there. Just stick to your plan, drink your fluids, get your walking in, and the pounds will come off. We are in this together!!!

    What Are The Foamies?

Not sure what the foamies are, but I had the slimes a couple days after surgery. I was so swollen and full, that I was spitting up white foamy slime. I've heard this happens when you're too full. Haven't had them since.

What Did U Take To The Hospital?

I think the only thing I used while there were my slippers and my phone. Never took my kindle out of my bag, and didn't get dressed until I left. The gown was big enough it covered everything so I didn't even use my robe or anything while up walking. I actually slept as much as I could.

    Firming Lotion

Does anyone use firming lotion or can it hinder weight loss? I'm being sleeved on Monday and while I'm happy with my decision to do so and know that it's for health reasons, I am afraid of saggy skin and deflated boobs. I've always had huge boobs so I'm sure I'll need a lift if anything. I'm going through a separation and will eventually begin dating again. I've always had body image issues being over weight, and I'd hate to have body image issues while I look great in clothes but am still afraid to be seen naked. Guess there's always plastic surgery down the road . Oh and is there anyone else close to my size? I'd love to hear how your body has changed. I'm 5'6, 46DDD, Size 18-20 pants, 26-28 shirt, and 24 dress.

    2/6 Sleevers Check In

We are in week 3!! How's everyone doing? I ended up taking an extra week off work. Had a hard time progressing from liquids to soft mushies because my sleeve had swollen in an hourglass shape, but much better now and feeling pretty good! Energy is coming back! Still can't get all of my fluids in, but I'm working on it. Finally started walking 2 miles a day...better late than never! Hope you are all doing great!!
  23. I had a piece of soft, canned chicken get stuck a couple of days ago but it only lasted for a few minutes. To me, it hurt in a sharp pain in the center of my chest and burned almost like heart burn. I drank some room temp apple juice and it dislodged it pretty quickly, but then I was too full and miserable for about 30 minutes.

Scale Doesnt Seem To Be Moving

I'm at my 3 week stall as well. Scale hasn't moved in 4 days BUT my clothes are getting baggy . I know I need to increase my water so working on that. And I finally started walking 2 miles a day. I know I was late on that, but better late than never!
