July Sleevers
You are very likely to not feel real hunger post-surgery (I haven't yet) and this helps hugely. Being anxious is normal, but it will be FINE. Don't mourn what you won't be able to have- you WILL be able to eat the things others do at dinners and so on- just in a few months, and in small portions. Think about seeing someone to help you to talk through your food issues, and that will help too.Your energy will be likely low until you can get enough protein in, and exercise, or perhaps it is a side-effect of the glums. Best way to get rid of the glums in my book is go for a walk.. Now think of it this way- this process is a small price to pay for your health isn't it? Good luck with the surgery! You'll be on the losers bench in no time- rocking that sleeve!

Who Else Has Now Two Belly Buttons?
I have a weird "dent" right underneath the right-hand side incision. The doc said they do quite a bit of internal stitching when closing and you are obviously lying down when this is done. Depending on your musculature and where the incision is, there may be a change with how the internal stitches pull everything together when you are upright (hence the dent ). It is something they can't really predict and can change from person to person. I don't care- I'd rather have a dent than all the blubber.

When Can I Take Vitamin Tablets?
I am two weeks post-op tomorrow. The next time I will see my surgeon will be three months out. (They are not big on post-op anything here LOL) They gave me an all- B-vits shot last Thursday when I went to take my stitches out and when I asked about taking vitamins, the nurse said , "Oh you shouldn't need to!" Now I am sure this is a heap of bunk, and I suffer from cramp which can be exacerbated by low vitamin D and potassium. I would like to take some multivits and a D supplement but not sure how well it will go down seeing as I'm still on full liquids.I take a PPI capsule (Lanzor)every day that goes down fine, and liquid vitamins are not available here- any ideas when I'll be able to swallow a multivitamin?

Low Carb Feta Cheese And Onion Muffins
2 red (or ordinary if you can't find any) onions sliced Oil for frying. Peanut oil is the most low-carb option. 100g Feta cheese, crumbled. 12 eggs. tsp of fresh thyme leaves 120ml double cream 120ml water Preheat the oven to 190 deg C - gas mark 5 ans oil a 12- cup muffin tray Fry the onion in a little oil until soft, and divide the onion, cheese and thryme evenly between the muffin cups. Whisk together the eggs, cream and water and pour eveny nto cups, over the cheese and onion mixture. Bake for 30 minutes on the top shelf until golden.Allow to cool slightly before removing from the tray. These are from "Neris and India's Idiot-proof diet cookbook" and I've cooked them many times. They don't last long! You can add smoked salmon, substitute different cheeses, add meats like pieces of good sausage meat (with no carby filler) etc. They are great to stick in a lunchbox.

Happy And Sad
I am 10 (actually that was yesterday- so 11 technically) days out. I had my stitches taken out and a shot of B vits yesterday. I am feeling so much better, walking is normal and only one incision hurts a bit. The nurse at the doc's office weighed me and I've lost 7kg's in 10 days! (15lbs!) I am managing to get a lot (if not all) my liquids in and about 50g of protein a day,and recovery seems to be smooth, so I am happy. The down side is I had a heart-to heart with the vet and the only reason now they have eliminated everything else, and why my cat can be not putting on weight even though they are feeding her crazy amounts of high-calorie food through a feeding tube every two hours is that she has a tumour that is hidden (we can't see it in the scan). What this means ultimately is that when I bring her home on Sunday she will be spending her last few days with me while she still has a little bit of an ability to enjoy home comforts, and then I will have to do the unthinkable. So I'm very very sad too.
