  1. I am new to this too, I was banded the 14th of October. I think that we are so use to failure in dieting that it is hard to have faith that this will work for us. I am feeling the same pressures and fears you are. I lost until I started eating again now I am standing still. I fear the scales will never budge, and I get on them each morning (bad Idea, I know but I can't help it) I am trying to increase my exercise and walking on the treadmill. I feel like everyone is watching every bite I put in my mouth. I have not had any fills yet , I felt restriction at first from the swelling I guess, but not now. I do not yet know when I will get my first fill. But I think it needs to be soon. Good luck and keep your head up, you will succeed.

  2. Thanks Everybody, I am doing better. I almost don't remember writing the above. I have a really hard time coming off the effects of the meds, I got real sick on the dalotta, and then they gave me morifphine. I hate pain meds, they make me really messed up. I have been trying the different foods, but either pureed or really soft. I wasn't able to drink soda before the surgery so that is not anything I will miss. The gas is even getting better. I am spending time outside, it is getting cool now and my doggie has missed me. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I will get my staples out next wednesday and then we will see how real life is. rolleyes.gif

  3. I had my surgery on October 14th. My procedure took place at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I came in at ten in the Morning, we had a long wait in the waiting room which had no tv. I was finally called back at about 2:00. I really can not tell you details, because I have very low tolerances to medication. I know that I had the surgery and a hernia repair. My husband was with me every step of the way. I woke up in the room. They were on me to walk pretty quick but I am not sure if it was the first day. For me there was a lot of pain, they gave me delotta. It gave me dry heaves. Which really hurt. Took two tries before I realized it was the meds making me sick. the first twenty four hours they gave me small med cups of broth. Then they let me have fluids. The second day in the hospital, I got the news that my brother had died. He had suffered from obesity and heart disease for years. It wasn't a shock but it was devastating. He was also a lot of my reasoning for having the surgery. He had his first heart attack at my age. (Rest in Peace Jerry Fox) So I had a hard time and when the doc on call came in he asked me if I was able to go home, I told him I did not think I was. So I stayed another day. The next day they had me walk alot and gave me different pain meds and I was able to go home.

  4. I am Joyce Real. I came here looking for answers, I don't seem to be able to find anywhere else. I am 5 days post op and doing ok. I still have quite a bit of pain, and the staples are annoying as can be. I feel my doctor is rushing me onto solid foods, he has already suggested I move from liquids right into trying chicken and baked potatoes. He even mentioned drinking soda, with my burp pain there is no way I want soda. But he is just the surgeon. So I do not expect him to give me all the answers. Everyone is pushing me to walk. I know it is important to get up and move but I can hardly drag myself out of bed. I am not taking the pain meds, because they make me into a zombie, and I would move even less. Today I am going to get on the treadmill and do as much as I can. I sound so negative, and that is not me, I am just recovering. I will get better and be more positive. Thanks for letting me put it out there.
