  1. I was banded in October, and got one fill that did not do much, then I got a second that gave me good restriction for a month, so I expected another fill, in December, but I had lost consistantly, so I did not get one, then January, and I still had lost so I did not get one, then this month, I had only lost 2 pounds, so I finally got my third and I feel really restricted right now. I hope it hangs in there this time. But if not I will get another one, My doc makes all the decisions about if I do or if I dont.

  2. I just had to read this when I saw the tease on Facebook, I should have recognized you right away lol I still come here daily to read and support. You have done amazing. I know that for some people it is a really hard change. For me, and I know it will drive you crazy, but the band really does all the hard work for me. I have been banded since october, and I just got a great fill and am now really losing. But I have been very passive in the exercise department. I think it will come and I will want to do better. I have the equipment, just need the gumption to get er done.

  3. Honk you are not being mean spirited. I am getting tired of reading thread after thread where someone has cheated on their postop diet and all these noobs come along and tell the OP it's OK, they did it, no problems etc etc.

I get it - people cheat but they shouldn't . The postop diet is there for a reason. The last thing people need is all these unqualified people telling them that it is OK to ignore their Drs instructions and that they will be fine. Who has the medical degree? Who did they pay the money to and trust their lives with? Who should they be getting advice/approval from if they "cannot" stick to their postop diet?

So the message here is if you have already cheated you cannot undo that but just because you have done it and think that it's OK does not mean that you should carry on or that you should encourage others to do the same.

I agree, you need to follow your doctors orders, if you are eating the things you say you are not helping yourself in any way. You worked to hard to get the surgery, if insurance paid, or if you paid you do not want to waste your money. Be strong it wont be long till your band is your best friend.

  4. I am a self payer. I found out that the surgery and one year follow up was 14500, here in Arkansas. I saved half and financed the other half. If you are self pay you do not have to go through any of the other stuff insurance requires you to do. Basically you go to a seminar, sign up for an appointment. See the surgeon, Pay for it and get it done. It took maybe two weeks. I know it is hard to come up with the money, but when there is no option that insurance will pay, then you take matters into your own hands.

  5. I am a large woman, and losing weight is good for me, but I will always be 5 ft 8 and at least medium to large boned. I am ok with being bigger than other people. I just want to cure my diabetes and be healthy. Being slimmer is hard to see, I have lost 35 so far and I still dont see it. I do see that my clothes are smaller lol I always think they will be to tight, and usually they are too loose lol It is all in the way we are use to seeing ourselves. I know heavy women who have lost weight and still ramble along like they weigh 300 pounds.
