Emotional Eater - Lap Band
Joyce Real replied to frenchdove's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Simone, I too was banded in October, but have not had any complications, I too am an emotional eater and get stuck regularly from the same thing, I eat too quickly and if distracted I will get myself stuck! I am learning. It would be great to keep in touch and compare notes!! Good luck!! -
So I Guess I Failed Already ......
Joyce Real replied to 2bSMALLER's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
sometimes it takes more than one fill too, don't get your hopes up too high for the first fill. For some that is all it takes but for others (yours truely) it takes more. I am getting my third on 1/11. -

sugar free popsicles are really good and help with the need to munch and are considered liquid. -
So I Guess I Failed Already ......

This process takes time, I am right there with you and I was banded in October! I have had two fills and the second one really worked but only for about 3 weeks. As you heal, your band loosens up, They fill you a little bit at a time. You will get there, and dont beat yourself up lots of people gain during bandster hELL!! it is discouraging, I am fighting against two pounds for the last two weeks, it goes up then back down. Driving me nuts but I know my next fill is gonna be the one, (I think) Because I had so much restriction on my second fill that the weight fell off. But now not so much. Just be patient and give yourself time to heal and get through the fill process before you deem yourself a failure!! -

October Bandsters!!!
Joyce Real replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone has lost so much more than I have! I am very excited for you all!! I did best after my second fill, but now I have gained a couple back. I have an appointment for my third fill on the 11th. I hope that finally gets me where I need to be. I thought I was there after my second fill, because I was never very hungry. But after about 4 weeks, it got a little slacker and I am eating more (AGAIN) I can gain weight so easy! Come on Jan 11th I am ready for ya!! -
Good luck getting back on track, I am right there with you! except I gained 2 or 3 pounds!! UGH

I'm Getting So Much Negative Feedback
Joyce Real replied to myownjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband was frightened for me to undergo surgery, but he went with me to the seminar and that set his mind at ease a little bit. He stayed by my side through the whole thing and has a much better understanding of the whole procedure. In the long run he is happy that I did it! Good luck in your band journey!! Hey maybe you should let them read these forums!! -
When I get stuck, I hiccup a lot and have a lot pain in my chest and tons of flem!! UGH, I have done it a lot of times. I hate to admit that, but I eat way too fast and dont pay enough attention. When it happens, I usually have to spit a lot, twice I have thrown up food. I am getting a grip on it and try to avoid it but it happens. I am going to get another fill and that usually opens up a whole new can of stuck! I have to learn to slow down too!! I have learned to cut meat up very tiny bites. That helps a bunch!! I just have to practice eating them one at a time lol.

To be truthful about why I chose the band, is because I am self pay and it was the one I could afford (barely). They are all tools to help with this weight loss journey. Good luck!!

I am with you!! It is so easy to stray!! I am up two pounds, but will get them back off now that the season is over!! No more sweets!! Thank you for responding. We gotta hang in there together!!

This Christmas there was food everywhere. I did not do good. As usual food won and I gained. It was just a couple pounds and I will have to work them off. It would be so much easier if I could just refuse the treats!! I gave away all the gifts of food made for me. My son says Mom I made you a pie and all these cookies before I remembered you cant eat all of it. I had a slice of your pie son and it was great lol. It is just so hard to avoid the whole season of food. I was in a good place with my band at Thanksgiving, and lost 11 pounds, but alas, I need another fill which I will get the 11th of January. We all have our ups and downs, so everyone just hang in there and dust off the sugar and get back on the wagon!! Good luck and I hope you all did better than I did!!

Feel Like Such A Lap Band Failure!
Joyce Real replied to robinbare's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my doctor says it happens when you have had the band a long time. You need to take out the fluid and wait about a month then start your fills over again. I hope you can get back on track!! -
How Many Days Of Work Did You Miss after Lap band Surgery?
Joyce Real replied to ready4therealme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say if you have sick time take your whole two weeks, I did, I had a hernia repaired, and truthfully I was not ready to go back before two weeks. I am blessed to have a good job, and sick time, so I was able to concentrate on healing. -
Yep, that is my sign to stop eating!
-
I was banded the 14th of October, and I know that feeling well!! But now that I have had two fills, before I get that far I get a hickup and a runny nose, then I know I better stop or I am going to be sick.

No-no Foods...what Are Yours?
Joyce Real replied to mst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have gotten stuck on meat, beef and pork, but it was probably because the tiny bite was not tiny enough, or I ate too fast or did not chew enough. I have had a hard time with bread and flour tortillas. But no problem with corn tortillas and I like them better anyway. I got stuck on one bite of coleslaw, lettuce has given me problems too. I can eat a little bit, but not much. -
Only Slightly Freaking Out
