  1. I started my mushies phase yesterday and I just am confused about how much I should be eating at one sitting. I had cream of potato Soup with cheese added for "lunch" and then had it again for "dinner" both times about 1/2 - 3/4 cup. I had a greek yogurt for Breakfast. and just Water to drink throughout the day.... There is NO WAY this is enough calories for a day. So how MUCH and how OFTEN should I be eating my mushies???

  2. also I hate the FAKE sugar taste.... so I will probably just get the regular ones

My surgery was monday oct. 24th. Last night my growling tummy actually turned in to TRUE hunger pains. So I had a few ounces of a strawberry milkshake and that did the trick! I am having a very hard time with the Protein shakes so I get no help from that. I JUST now had an ounce or two of cream of chicken Soup made with milk. It was ok...I was feeling really weak and needed something. Other than that I've just been having Water, yogurt smoothies(the little kid kind) and chicken broth..I think I will try popcicles. In desperate need of something different!!

  4. Thank you for this reply..I was actually getting on here to post something about burping and how much it hurts and if that was normal. I too am 3 days post op!! I'm getting really tired of the Clear liquids tho... and my Protein shakes make me want to vomit! Chocholate milk is about the best thing I've had so far.. I figured I could use the extra calories since i can't get the Protein drinks down.

I promise, it gets MUCH better. I think things started to turn around for me about the 5th day after surgery, so you're getting there! I took the pain medicine to combat the pain, but it sounds like you can't do that, and that sucks. They say to walk, walk, walk, so force yourself.

Burping/hiccupping is exactly what I did for the first 5 days, and they HURT! Miserable. But it gets so much better. Try to distract yourself with TV and books, and remind yourself why you took this dramatic step. It also helped me to surf the internet and this website for success stories.

    Good luck!

  5. So glad to hear this! And that you are doing well! It's funny but I am actually looking forward to the post-op diet because the pre-op diet is SO HARD! Does that make sense?

    Hello Ladies,

I was banded on Wednesday, October 19th and I can tell you ladies that it is not as difficult as you think it is. You will see that it will go like clockwork. My surgery took almost two hours only because I had an umbilical hernia repair as well. The extra little bit of pain I have had is also from the hernia repair. I think that if I had not had the hernia repair I would be so much further in my recovery from the band surgery. I am really not hungry - even when my stomach growls. When I drink too fast I get a tightness in my chest area and know to stop. I can't wait until they advance me to full liquids so I can have milk products and creamy soups!! Not looking forward to the mushies but I am going to be buying baby food instead of blending my food.< /p>

Good luck to all of you!!

  6. actually yes! I mean I would drink one regular pepsi everyday! And I was wondering if that could be the problem... thanks for the suggestion!

Question! Are you a big soda (soft drink) drinker. Of course they have lots of sugar and caffine in them. Did you go cold turkey and stop drinking them. If so that could be causing your headaches. If so try drinking a couple of sips of one until you can wing yourself completely off them and see if your headaches go away. I know I had to wing myself off of them cause I was getting headaches. Just a thought! Hope it helps.

  7. Hi October bandsters!! My surgery is Monday! My pr-op diet hasn't been TOO bad! I was supposed to have 2 lite meals and 2 Protein Shakes each day for a week. But, I CANNOT stand the Protein shakes and I was REALLY HUNGRY.. so I called my doc and they said I could add as many of the fresh or steamed veggies as I wanted. THANK GOD! I also have been eating greek yogurt, which has double the protein of regular yogurt and it's non fat. Dannon greek is pretty good. What types of liquids is everyone having or planning to have POST-OP??
