    High Protein Fudge-Sicle!

I ended up making them and they really aren't bad at all. And, 10 grams of protein packed into a 3oz frozen chocolate treat...I'll take it!
  2. Hi everyone, I'm almost a week out from surgery and was wondering about acid reflux. Other than during pregnancy, I've not had a problem with it but I know that it can be an issue following surgery. If you've dealt with this, when following surgery does it typically start to become a problem? I know that everyone is different, but I'm just wondering if this might be something I should look out for. Thanks!

    Ouch!

Well, I guess it was bound to happen... One week out today and I just ate WAY too fast and too much. OUCH!! I ate a little more than a 1/2 cup of cream of wheat, and I think I reverted to my old ways of eating and wasn't mindful of taking in a little bit at a time. Now I am super uncomfortable. I'm hoping that this horrible feeling will pass soon. I'm not sure what I can do to feel better other than wait a bit (and burp!). So, if you are reading this and you are early out from surgery...don't forgot to eat slowly and take breaks between spoonfuls! I hope that I have learned my lesson. Anyone have other advice? I should probably have been using a baby spoon as well (I was using a teaspoon). And, it would have been better for me to have only taken 1/4 cup to start with... Guess this process is full of trial and error...and lots of practice.
  4. Congrats! I love the pic of your jeans (I'll have to keep the pair that I wore pre-op so that I can compare it as well!).
  5. Wow! Congrats. Thanks for sharing -- it's super encouraging to see what great results you've had!!
  6. For whatever it's worth, I didn't have a drain for my procedure. I don't think that my surgeon typically uses them.
  7. What an inspiration!! I hope that I can do the same thing in a year (I also have quite the collection of clothing). Plus the fact that you are wearing a smaller size now than any of your old clothes! Thanks for sharing.

    June Sleevers!

Great Job, Little Bits!! I, too, thought that I wanted the lap band when I first started this process...didn't realize that the Sleeve was an option until I went to in informational meeting by my surgeon. So glad that I have the sleeve! I look forward to following your videos. My surgery was on the 12th, so we'll just be a week apart. Best wishes on your journey!
  9. I, too, was sleeved on the 12th. A good day, I think! My doctor didn't do a leak test -- he said that he would do one if necessary. After being in the hospital for 48hrs, I was sent home on a full liquid diet. I am SO looking forward to the pureed stage also!! I'd really like some "real" food and more of a variety! Just curious -- do you all use an actual strainer to strain your Soup? So far, I've just used a colander. As of yesterday, with my pre-op loss of 14 pounds (then a gain from the hospital of 6), I am down a total of 20lbs. So encouraging! Hooray for us!

    Eggs!

    I'm 4 days out and I CAN'T WAIT for the pureed/mushies stage...and eggs!!
  11. Hi have 5 smallish incisions with 1-3 staples per incision. I don't have any drains.
  12. My surgery was the 12th also. I've been lounging mostly around the house and wearing my comfy pants under my belly and away from my incisions. I've gone out a few times and worn elastic band shorts and they seem to be okay. I have one incision that is so high it sits right about where my bra does! Thankfully, I'm able to scoot my bra up a bit so it doesn't directly rest on that ouchie. Do you have one that is that high? I think that the more you walk, the better. I did quite a bit of walking at my local mall today and even shopped at Target for a while. It helped to push a cart while I walked. I'm looking forward to laying low most of tomorrow, though. I don't want to overdo it. I hope that each day you are feeling better! Congrats on your sleeve!
  13. Hi, I'm 3 days post op (my surgery was on Tuesday afternoon). I'm trying to breathe deeply, but I'm finding that deep breaths are quite uncomfortable/a bit painful. Has anyone experienced this? I'm thinking that it must be related to excess gas from the surgery, but I'm not sure. Thanks for any advice that you might have!

How Did You Get Through Your Pre-Op Diet?

Keep yourself as busy as you can -- that helped me!

    Unjury...yay Or Nay?

You can do it! (if I could do it, you certainly can!). The first few days are the most difficult, my stomach was growling almost constantly. But after a few days it got easier. I found that the busier I stayed, the less I thought of food. It was a good way to break those thought patterns and "detox" myself from food. I've never had unjury (just ordered a few samples, though) or Bariatric Advantage -- sorry. I had the option of doing the Boost Calorie Control Protein shakes -- 5/day (they weren't bad at all). I was also allowed to have nonstarchy veggies. Is your pre-op diet just liquids? Best wishes!! It'll be over before you know it and you'll get to be on the other side!!

Just curious...what kind of goodies do you sneak in??

    Breathing Post Surgery?

Thank you! I did get a breathing apparatus but I don't think that I was given a goal. Do/did any of you have a certain goal (number) as far as how deep a breath to take? My top is at 2000 right now. Thanks!

June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In

Hi fellow June sleevers! I had my surgery two days ago (6/12). I'm still in the hospital but I'll be going home today. I'm going to take a quick shower before I head home. I'm quite surprised at how good I feel. I hope all of you are doing well also! Looking forward to going through this journey with you!

    Tracking Food Post-Op

I have to second (third and fourth?) what other people have said about myfitnesspal. I LOVE it! I just started using it a week ago (on the first day of my pre-op diet) and it is so easy. I often lose track of how many Protein shakes I've had, so it's really helpful to have an easy and customized way to track my intake. It's also great to see what other people are able to eat post-op. I'm looking forward to finding some great ideas through friends there. Feel free to add me, my name on MFP is Bthatgirl Best wishes on this journey!!

    My Fitness Pal

Hi, Feel free to add me as well. I'm loving using MFP (just discovered it last week). It's a great way to connect and to get meal ideas (esp. what to expect post-op). My name there is BThatGirl
  24. Hi there, So, today I started day one of my two week pre-op diet of mostly liquids (I can have a few different veggies as well). I'm feeling super famished! (I didn't think I'd be someone who says how hungry they are on their pre-op diet, but I guess I am!). Do any of you have any tips and/or things that have helped you get through this time? Thanks in advance!!

    2 Week Pre-Op Diet

Hi CelticHarpist, I wouldn't worry too much about the length of the pre-op diet. I've seen a lot of variation on this in reading these forums. Some people have no special pre-op diet and others only have a day or two of liquids, etc. It's interesting that doctors vary so much in this area. When is your surgery? Best wishes to you during this journey!
