  1. OMG!! Congratulations Septemberslimmer1960!! I know you feel soooo good!! 44lbs!!! I just had my first appointmetn with my dietician last week to start my six month supervised diet. I also joined and have been going to Planet Fitness-I like it there-I don't feel any intimidation:) I'm having labs drawn and my physical therapy appointment on Thursday! Things are moving slow but they are moving. I've started journaling when I have cravings even if I give into them because I'm such an emotional eater!!

  2. Tamg26k that's a good idea for a St Louis chapter for those post and pre op- it's great to read experiences but I have very little support here. Luckily my mom is slowly starting to be on board-but she's never had a weight problem-she's complaining of weight gain in her 60's and she's a size 8- LOL!

I'm not sure what area would be convenient for people or what day (like maybe a Sat meet after the holidays for the StL peeps!

  3. Yeah! Support in St. Louis! I'm attending my first support group through BJC pre-op on Monday. I went to the NP on Thursday and MAN there is sooo much stuff I have to do. I have to have a 6 month document diet from dietitician-but that's okay because I didn't want to have the surgery until this summer when I get more time off work! Labs, psych evaluation, ekg! UGH!

Wow terosiamoore-just Wednesday you were sleeved?!! Congratulations!!! I live in Ucity too-and I love it!! How are you feeling?

  4. Unjury is really good-I ordered it from their website-it for real tastes like milkshake and they have unflavored Protein Powder that mixed in well some turkey chili I made. I just got a few samples due to just what you said that taste changes. I'm not buying anything right now. It may take me awhile to get the surgery-my insurance has a 6 month supervised diet period:( I'm trying to stay positive and just do all the research I can! Since you are getting yours done in Dec I can support you with you journey with encouragement while I also learn!!!

  5. You are much further along than me! That's awesome!!! I am waiting to do the initial intake and hear from the surgery center (they told me they received my paperwork!) I'm also in therapy for things that have definitely contributed to all this weight. I too have had problems with fibroids and infertility (not a problem anymore since I'm single) but I love your advice about the Protein shakes! I just got some Unjury sample packets. They taste good....but not sure how they would be after the surgery!!! Did U tell anyone about your surgery? Only my mother knows what I'm trying to do.

  6. You are my inspiration! When is your date? A woman I worked with got her procedure done in Mexico and looks amazing!! When you know...you just know! Only you can decide what's best and that's how I feel. It's my body...no one else has a clue what pain I go through! My hats off to u! I can't wait to get to that point!

  7. I'm early on in my journey too-I sent in my paperwork to the surgeon along with my PCP referral. One of the forms gave space to list all things you've tried in the past. I laughed cause I needed another form! I hear drs all the time trying to persuade other avenues....in some aspects it makes sense-for some the more sick we get...the more money for them. I also watch my father-never had diabetes or heart disease but he's had two knee replacements and arthritis on his spine. I have the start of arthritis in my knees so I see myself in him years later.

  8. Back in 2011, I had decided to get the lap band. I did all this research had discovered I didn't think it would be for me. My weight continued to go up and down as I tried again on my own. I've been overweight my whole life with a few spirts of weight loss by torture. My PCP told me to look into the sleeve...I'm loved what I read and researched. I'm starting my journey now. I'm sooo tired of being in pain and uncomfortable all the time. I would love to cross my legs or know what it's like to shop in a smaller size store. But mostly I would love to not have the worry of diabetes that runs so rampant in my family or heart disease in which all of my 6 uncles, grandparents have died from. Along with the congestive heart failure that took the lives of 5 aunts and 3 cousins. I'm very tired of attending funerals and gave me a realistic perspective that if I keep going this track I would be attending my own.

  9. @soccermonster I complete my 6 month journey in November and I had to send in the paper work to the dr's office. I will be calling them in November to make sure my insurance approves when my 6 mos is complete-Dr. Eagon doesn't require a liquid diet prior to the surgery, but I asked him if it would be all right if I did so I can get used to just having liquids after. He told me that was fine. I purchaed powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate Protein and its actually pretty good!

@ STacie-HI!!!!! Congratulations on you being banded!!!!! How do you feel? Are you on liquids? Are you stillsore or able to get up and do things? What was your process? Yes the more support the better for everyone:)!

I live in O'Fallon, MO and was banded two weeks ago today. I'm a little older than you (51) but would love to connect and support one another.

  10. Hi Soccermonster

I am with Dr Eagon at Barnes. I met with him last week and luckily had all of my questions answered. I am excited but nervous at the same time!!

Congratulations to you for getting banded tomorrow!! That is awesome!!! You have to keep me posted on how you are doing and feeling throughout your process!

Hey Breeze :) I am in STL and getting banded tomorrow! I had similar issues as you at 27! So I know what you mean when you say you need to lose the weight to save your life! Which surgeon are you using?

  11. Hello,

I am going through the pre cert process now and finishing my 6 month WW for proof of attempted weight loss. My BMI is 42 and I have pre hypertention along with knee and joint pain at 33 years old. It is ridiculous and I need to lose weight to save my life. I want to feel better and do things that I have not been able to do in years! I am definitely looking for some St. Louis/ or other newbies or ones going through this process so we don't have to do this alone. My hubby and close friends are extremely supportive. My immediate family....not so much but I'm not around them and have come to accept the fact that I am doing this for my health and longevity. So I wanted to introduce myself and say HEY!!!!

  12. Hello from Missouri

This is just the post I was looking for! I am going through this journey as I have completed all the testing and finishing out my 6 month WW plan. My BMI is a whopping 42, I have pre-hypertension and knee aches every time I climb or go down stairs due to my weight. I informed my husband, closest friends to help support me through this process. My immediate family does not support but I am not around them much luckily. I am extremely fearful as I have never had any procedures done but I am so ready to get this process started. I will definitely be needing support and would love to support others out there
