KatInFL got a reaction from TES in kidney problems after surgery?
I was in the ER earlier this week for a suspected kidney stone and kidney infection, as well as dehydration. The ER doctor gave me the impression it is very common after losing a lot of weight. He said the key is to keep very hydrated. I keep track and do well at getting 64 oz of Fluid and he said that just isn't enough for my body right now, especially when it's hot out.

I work from home, so I can relate to eating bc of the ease of just grabbing something from the fridge.
It's helped me to be pretty regimented about when I eat. I know some people eat 5-6 small meals but that just doesn't work for me. I eat 3 meals and allow myself one snack, usually between dinner and bed.
I also keep track of everything I eat, even when I slip and eat something I know I shouldn't. It helps me keep an eye on my overall intake.
Additionally, I don't really keep anything in the house that I know will send me off the rails... no chips, candy, etc. My son doesn't need that stuff so it's easy for me to just not buy it. There are some bread products that I don't eat, but have for him but it's stuff that I don't typically want anyway.

I think most of us go through this. For me it was around the same time. food became a chore and really wasn't as good as it sounded.
It goes away in do time. You will enjoy and want to eat again, but if course it will still be in smaller amounts.

KatInFL got a reaction from No game in How does after care work in Mexico?
I think you might be better served by determining a list of doctors, then narrowing down that list based on your needs and wants.
For instance, when I first decided Mexico was the route for me, I made a spreadsheet of all the doctors. Then I made columns for other information, like did they operate in a hospital vs some sort of outpatient facility, cost, whether they used a coordinating company or an in-house coordinator, etc. This helped me narrow down to 3 or 4 doctors that I contacted personally and then was able to further narrow down from there.
The reason I say this is because those of us who are post-op almost inevitably think our doctors are great. I know for myself (and I'd venture to guess for most) this is based on our experiences both pre- and post-op...but what makes a good experience for me might not equate to a good experience for you. I had varying priorities in a doctor which may or may not be the same as your priorities. Also, my surgeon was a part of a life changing event for ME. By nature (and barring any serious complications) I would imagine that most people have positive opinions about a care provider who helped manage a life changing event.
Once you've got a list of doctors, and are working on narrowing down those that meet your needs, you can do a search on this forum for specific doctors or ask about experiences with specific doctors. People are usually happy to provide feedback on their own doctors; it's a little tougher to give doctor recommendations without knowing any of the basic information about what might meet your needs.

I bought the Atkins baking mix from Amazon. It satisfied the pancake craving but the texture and density was vastly different than a regular pancake. I could only eat about half a pancake. My kid took one bite and was done... not necessarily a bad thing, as there is little around here that is just mine.

Generally, it is assumed if you have some type of problem/complication it is something you will need to take care of fairly quickly, as opposed to waiting until you can book a flight and fly to Mexico. That is why most of the surgeons release you with a full copy of your labs, EKG, chest x-rays, swallow test video, etc., so you have them in the rare event that a complication arises.

Alex is great! I love that he makes himself so accessible to all of us when we have questions.

Marriage does not require, in my mind, sacrificing what is good for you in favor of what works for your partner.

I'm 3+ months post-op and haven't tried salad yet. I just don't have room by the time I get my Protein in.
I would check your doctor's instructions... mine didn't allow for fresh veggies of any sort until 7 weeks post-op.

I'm alone in MX as I type! Had the surgery Saturday, July 13 w/ Dr. Illan at florence Hospital, now recuperating at Hotel Lucerna. I must say, it's been WONDERFUL. No one else to worry about, a hotel room all to myself, and I can fart as loud as necessary (and boy, is it necessary!) and don't have to apologize to anyone.
I don't know who your surgeon is, but if you're with Dr. Illan, Omar with make sure your every need is met and you won't have time to feel anxious or scared.
