    Drain.....

Yep, totally depends on the surgeon so you'll need to ask. Mine comes out before leaving the hospital as well, but I've seen up to 2 weeks from others here.

    The Permanence Of It

The permanence of it is actually one of the things that made me choose the sleeve. I came into my process saying I wanted the band. I had convinced myself that all of the problems people were having were just blown out of proportion (rolling my eyes at myself for that one). My nurse in the weight management program gently convinced me to look at the other surgeries. When I said the sleeve scared me because it was permanent, she replied "so, you DON'T want a permanent solution?". Very simple but it really made me think. I can't even imagine there being a time when I'm not so dependant on food, but my goodness am I looking forward to it!
  4. Can pre-opers participate? My surgery date is 9/5 and I'd love to lose 20 lbs by then. The last week and a half will be the high protein/low carb preop diet.
  5. Before you do that, just make sure your insurance doesn't require a weight history.
  6. Yeah, I don't know about that. His inexperience plus having you sign a waiver that basically says "you're SOL if I mess up" doesn't sit well with me. Like someone else said, I know they have to get the practice on someone....but ummm no. Is he the only surgeon in his practice?
  7. As everyone else said, as much as it hurts (and I know it does), you may have to just move on from this friendship. You're the same girl on the inside, the packaging just changed! I have a feeling I'm going to have this issue with a few friends based on some comments they've made while I was going through the pre-op process. I'm a smart ass, so I start rattling off all of the rules of the program I was in, the testing, the doctor visits, the recovery time, blah blah blah....and end with..."yep, SUPER easy!" That usually shuts them right up. I swear I'd love to bop anyone who says this is the "easy way out" upside the head. LOL Wow. WOW. How rude and just downright mean!
  8. Hearing that the divorce rate for WLS patients is definitely sobering. Wheetsin hit the nail on the head though, you ARE going to change. Whether we admit it or not, having weight issues over a long period of time changes you. Even the most confident woman will have those thoughts in the back of her head. You wouldn't be going down this route otherwise, you know? For most of us, getting the weight off will result in happy changes but unfortunately people adapt to and get comfortable to what they know. This is big. Have you told him exactly that? For it to finally click for my husband (who wasn't entirely supportive of me having the surgery at first) I said "I want to look in the mirror and see the pretty/sexy/beautiful person you claim I am". I swear, a lightbulb could have appeared over his head. LOL I know that I have some internal stuff to work on to help me get to that point to, but like you, he is part of the reason I want to get healthy by any means necessary. I want to grow old with him. Good luck!!!

    Just Say No

This is awesome to hear. I have bad reactions to the heavy duty pain meds so I'd like to avoid them as much as possible.
  10. ...they may just surprise you! I felt pretty strongly about not telling much of anyone outside of my very closest friends and immediate family. As I began to go through the classes and jump through the various hoops, the net was cast wider and wider. I didn't exactly rent a billboard, but I definitely told way more people than I intended. I'm still pre-op, so basically, I just sent an email letting them know I'm having surgery, when it is, and simply asked for their prayers and support during the process. The response has been OVERWHELMINGLY positive. They've all seen me struggle while actively trying to lose weight. Everyone is happy for me and offering all sorts of support. So, yeah, there are plenty of ignorant people who will have ridiculously dumb things to say about our decision but I'm willing to bet that there will be more that will be in your corner and waiting to help and support you in any way they can. I'm not trying to convince anyone to do anything they don't want. I just know that it was a bit stressful for me to think of all of the judgement and possibly not having the support of those around me. Basically, I was worried for nothing! Just wanted to share....
  11. All of the things you ate are slider foods, so it isn't weird that you were able to get them down (and more than you think you should). That was one day, you know those weren't the best choices (you wouldn't have posted otherwise LOL), so all you can do is move forward. :-) I also noticed that it took you 45 mins to eat. I am being told that at 30 mins, we should stop eating because going past that you may take in more than you should

    Zumba...a Lil' Disappointed

I am in class with people who have rhythm and learn the choreography like no one's business. Others are just flailing around. Then others (like me!) Are somewhere in between. LOL. All of us are having a BALL and burning serious calories. My Zumba instructor tells us to find a couple of moves we can do that when we get lost we can just do that to keep moving. So when they get to turning and spinning and whatever, I do a samba or cha cha and keep it moving. Stick with it! I promise it gets better. Then you'll find yourself doing routines at your desk at work. Or maybe that's just me. LOL

    Does Anyone Have The Treadclimber?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Reading more reviews online and they are very mixed...for a machine that expensive I'm not sure it will be worth it. The hunt is on!

    Does Anyone Have The Treadclimber?

You both bring up great points. Hmmm... Finding an elliptical with a high weight capacity that doesn't break the bank is proving difficult.
