  1. We are sleeve sisters! I am glad you had a successful surgery. I am hungry too but am on full liquids. I too am on restriction until 8 weeks postop just a slightly different schedule. Can you add beneprotein to your clears? Also, dont hesitate to call your NUT and explain what youre felling. Hang in there and every day is a day closer to goal.

1 Week Post Op, How Much Clear Liquids Can You Eat At A Sitting?

I am 6 days out and can eat a couple spoonfuls of pudding at a time....or like 4 oz of a protein shake in a 30 minute period...I am still having trouble getting all of my water in...I don't know if there really is a normal...everyone seems to be a little different.
  3. I was sleeved on dec 13th- so like 6 days ago and am just starting to have thoughts other than those of regret...so thanks for posting this and all the responses...it is very encouraging that things will get better
  4. I was sleeved on tuesday 12-13 and am already craving real food. I know that I physically can not eat it but that doesn't stop the cravings. So essentially my question is when did everyone start their regular diet? My surgeon has me on full liquids for 2 weeks and then mushies until 8 weeks....then a regular diet. Is this typical?

    Still New..

My entire process took about 8 months. I have Aetna insurance and they require 6 months of medically supervised weight loss. During this time I started having my preop testings done (blood, ekg, chest xray, upper GI, gallbladder ultrasound) as well as my psych consult. Once this was all complete they sent everything in to insurance for me and it took about 1 week to be approved. My surgeon was booked a month or two out so my sleeve date is 12-13 and I started with my initial visit in April. It all depends on insurance requirement pretty much. Good luck and keep us posted!
  6. wow...so jealous . Who makes them?
  7. Congrats on getting your date! I have been on liquids for 11 days and the first few days were the worst-but it does get easier! I have started chewing sugar free popsicles or sugar free gum (my surgeon allows gum preop but not post op). Good luck and stay positive. It will get easier

    Help! Protein Powders?

Congrats on your sleeve! My favorite protein powder is Jay Robb--all natural, low carb, sweetened with stevia. Has a great chocolate and vanilla-mixes very easily in milk. I also have added a splash of sugar free Davinci syrups to change things up a bit
  9. I am so looking forward to these things too....and in 4 days Ill be on my way:) Here is my list: horseback riding, rollercoasters, can go to any clothes store and find my size, fly on a plane comfortably, wear a dress with confidence, get a bra from victoria's secret, and the list could go on....
  10. Congrats, glad you are doing so well! I haven't been sleeved yet (4 days to go:) but on my liquid preop diet I have found that the Jay Robb whey powder with skim milk and a splash of sugar free torani syrup is delicious. The Almond Joy sounds great too! Keep us posted!

    December sleevers!

@ Roxyrooster-I am also getting sleeved on the 13th-woohoo!
  12. I am on day 3 of my liquid preop diet, and I feel awful! I am having splitting headaches and am nauseous. I am trying to get more protein in to see if that helps. It seems like I am so hungry and when I do eat some broth or a protein shake I get nauseous right after. To top it all off I am in the middle of a sinus infection (which may be causing some of these symptoms). Anyone else experience anything like this...if so, what helped?

    Sleep Study

I never had to have anything stuck down my throat but they did make me drink disgusting barium contrast while they took xrays to see my stomach....it was awful!
  15. @Paola-WOW that is amazing. Do you know when you will have your surgery?
  16. Everyone's advice really helped. I am now on day 5 and have seen changes in the scale so that is totally motivating. Also, for some reason it is getting easier-and no more headaches! How is everyone else doing?
  17. I am a veterinary technician...which can be pretty physical at times Thank for all your advice...I guess I'll ask for 2 weeks off and then maybe see if I can "play" receptionist after that-so nothing too heavy.
  18. After getting sleeved, how long is a good time to take off of work? My Dr. recommends 4-6 weeks to allow your body time to heal and to get to know your new tummy . He also said if I have to I can go back sooner...just no lifting over 10 pounds for 6 weeks. I was wondering what yall's opinions are after going through this. Thanks!

    Overly-ambitious Weight Loss Goal?

I am currently 304 (312 at my highest) and had my preop appt yesterday. My Dr. said with hard work and exercise and my age (I am 23) that he thinks I could be around 150-160. That is like half of my body weight. If 140 is your Dr.'s recommended goal than I think it is completely doable and realistic based on the success stories I have seen. When is your surgery? mine is 12-13. Good luck!
  20. Thanks! That was helpful!
  21. My preop diet is low carb. Sugar free jello/pudding/popsicles, light yogurt, low carb protein shakes, broth/pureed soups, diet V8 splash, and water. My surgeon has all patients follow this diet for 2 weeks preop and then 2 weeks postop. This is going to be a long month lol
  22. I totally did the same thing. I ate like I was never going to eat again. Then someone on here posted that every pound I lose before surgery is NEVER going to come back, and that totally did it for me. I started my liquid preop diet 2 days early. I am on my second day of liquids today and am starving! But...I know I will feel so much better and we CAN do it! Good luck!
  23. I am so frustrated! I have to be the only person to have gained weight before my surgery. Rationally I know that there is not food I will not eat again, just in moderation. But for some reason I have been eating like I will never eat again. I go on my liquid pre-op diet on 11-29 for surgery on 12-13. My preop appointment is set for Dec 1st---I can't sleep worrying that my Dr. will not want to do the surgery because of the weight gain!!! Has this happened to anyone-anyone ever been denied at their preop appt for weight gain?
  24. I have gained about 12 pounds since my first appt with the surgeon in April. There was never a set amount of weight he said I needed to lose before surgery that I was told...so we will see how mad he is on Thursday. I just want this so bad I cant imagine having to reschedule
