  1. I can finally say that I lost 100lbs!!!! Holy Cr*p I never in a million years thought that I could BUT I did!!!!! I have a great Banded support group and my banded husband has helped along the way! This has been somewhat of a roller coaster or a mind f*ck as I normally say. When you are not restricted you want restriction and when you restricted you wish you could eat lol. I am almost 14 months post op. I went from my heaviest of 260lbs to 160lbs. I still want to lose maybe another 20lbs. At this point I think I will take it 5lbs at a time. I went to all my appointments and when I plateaued I would get a fill. I have 6.25cc in my 10cc band and I am very restricted now. I am still learning what I can eat or can not or in other words I am trying to listen to my band. I did however give up my love affair/addiction to food. I can no longer eat a bagel or a donut but I really don't care. My only regret is not doing this sooner. For all those who doubt like I once did, it is possible and this WILL be you!

  2. Today is my 4 month Bandiversary and I am thrilled!!! The scales sometimes is a b*tch to me lol but when I step back and look at the whole picture I am extremely happy. My BMI when I started this journey was 46.1 and today its 37.6. I am 2 lbs away from a 50lbs weight loss. I am hoping I have finally arrive at "green". Here is some pics I took. I am actually lighter now than the pic but still I couldn't be happier :)

  3. I did mention this before:

You are right and I hadn't had McDonalds since before my surgery. A moment of mental weakness that I am not proud of but i am a recovering food addict lol. Believe or not for me burgers/ ground beef and ice cream doesn't go down easily for me. If I try to eat it too fast it hurts so yesterday when it went down easily I just thought maybe I needed a fill.

I had been carefully tracking calories and eating "proper" foods and still getting hungry and not losing weight. Then I said f*ck it that night and had McDonald's. Again I am not proud of it. I do think this last tiny fill of 1/10th cc so far seems it is doing the trick. No hunger, no pain and very small amounts of foods and my scale IS moving in the right direction.

I am a bit confused here....Why in the world would you go to McDonalds and order this food. If you were eating your Protein you would probably not be hungry...but you added french fries and a sundae!! lol....I don't think you need a fill, I think you just need to eat the proper foods. Your band is a tool for you...you still have to make good and healthy food choices!! Just my advice

  4. THANKS!!! I ddin't even track my calories yesterday. I wasn't really hungry. I had 2 coffees, 1 thin slice bread with bruschetta and thin piece of proscuitto, a little bit of Soup and a few fork fulls of orzo with fontina. The orzo was hard to get down. I felt the food stay around for a while so I couldn't really eat anymore if I wanted to. No hunger and no pain just slow eating. Thanks B!

As long as you're not "craving starving climbing the walls hungry", if you don't feel like eating, then don't.

Forget about getting you daily calories in, just go for the Protein and Water.......nibble at what you know is good for you.

food is what got us fat in the first place, so to do without it is not a bad thing.....interpret what I'm really trying to say.

Water may be slow, but keep it up. It will get easier after time.

At least for a little while and see what happens......Congratulations!

  5. So just got back from my 4th fill :( I convinced him to give me .5cc and drinking the Water was a struggle and I felt super full. So he convinced me to take it out. He didn't want to fill me at all because he felt my weight loss was slow and steady. So he took out everything but a 10th of it, I think to make me happy because I tried to convince him to only take .25 of it but then I went with his advice. So now I am 5.10cc I am hoping this slight fill puts me in the green.

  6. Well I am tracking calories because I don't want the scale to go the other direction. I am taking this week to really listen o my band to see how long I stay full and satisfied. So far its not consistent. Somedays I am hungerier than other days.

I can and always could eat that much, but I lost weight and kept it off. The ight restriction for you is where you eat till satisfied, are not unduly hungry but still lose an average of 1-2 lb per week. Thats all you need to worry about. If you can eat 3000 calories of healthy food a day and lose weight, then thats the right restriction for you. Trying to judge it by bring able to eat bread, or being able to eat more than half a cup, etc is silly. If you are losing, but can eat a meal and not get hungry until its a reasonable time to eat again, then thats the right restriction.

I don't think this meal is a good indicator of restriction. A big Mac burger is not solid Protein, it is reconstituted meat covered in grease that slides down really easily. You didn't eat the bun and the french fries are also very skinny and probably very easy to eat. I am not a Macca's fan so I don't really know.

As to the sundae , your band would need to be completely blocked for that not to go down. Icecream goes down so easily.

I think you should stop eating big macs and start eating some proper home cooked food and see what kind of a difference it makes.

You also have to remember that at some point your weight loss will slow down or even plateau, especially if you have had weeks where you have been losing 5lb, it takes your body time to catch up. That is not a problem as losing weight is not a race.

I still think that you should discuss it with your Dr , making sure you are HONEST with what you tell him, and then take his advice.

  8. This is what I am trying to achieve! I am working out but still tracking which sometimes is not so easy or successful.

That's pretty much how it is for me also.

I don't count calories, I just eat when I'm hungry (which isn't often) and I eat till I'm satisfied (which isn't much)

All I need to do is make wise food choices, get my Water in, and take my Vitamins, etc. And exercise.

  9. Ok so I know that I shouldn't but I did, just to test how much food I could eat. Last night I had 1/2 big mac minus 1 bun 1/2 small french fries and 1 sundae. I stayed under 1200 calories yesterday. I felt satisfied and full. I waited 20 minutes to eat the sundae. After that meal I think I realize that I may need another small fill. I don't think that I should be able to eat that much in one meal. Am I wrong? I feel like I am so close but right now I am thinking I need another fill.

  10. Banded friends, I need advice. I am still trying to figure out if I am in my sweet (green zone) spot. I am going in for a possible fill on Friday. 4 weeks ago the doc told me that if I am still losing at this rate he would not fill me which was about 8-10lbs a month. I still feel some restriction but 800 cals a day still leaves me a little hungry and often I will eat over the 800 calories, closer to 1200. Some weeks I will lose only 1lbs and other 5lbs. I have this week to listen to my band and scale to decide if I want to beg the doc for another small fill. Right now I am at 5cc in my 10cc band. I rarely feel pain while eating now thank goodness but should I be feeling hunger??? Also I feel like I am still working really hard tracking calories etc., to make my scale move. Does it sound like I need a fill? Advice please...
