    I need to vent!

Did he see the report? If so, why would he not make the referral ASAP? Surgery or no surgery? Jeeeze!! Way to persevere!
  3. I love hearing all the insight from everyone. How about people who have had the surgery for more than two years or so? How are you doing long term?

    Hospital stay vs outpatient

Patients who have had laparoscopic procedures and being discharged the next day usually do not have a continuous pain pump ordered for the night if they are not having severe pain control issues. You will get IV doses of pain medication as needed from the nurse but not a continuous infusion pump. Like a few people have stated, sometimes the docs just like you to stay over night and leave the next day for all the reasons listed. Sometimes the surgeons rest easier knowing you are being cared for through the night and not home on your own... They sleep better

    Chest PAIN!! :0(

Chest pain is an ER visit. Plain and simple. There are many things to be ruled out and a phone call to your doctor will more than likely amount to him telling you to go to the ER if it is after hours and you cannot walk into his office. Just a side question, do you still have your gallbladder?

    Years of obsessing over food

Thanks for all your input to the very broad question I asked. I guess sometimes I just want my 49 year old brain to stop thinking of the next meal, the next bit of food I can put in my mouth to satisfy the physical and mental need that I know will never be full no matter how much I stuff it. As far back as five years old I remember always feeling "different" because I could not stop thinking of food. I am one of four and my other three siblings have no food obsession. I always wanted more and more and never knew how they could walk away from the table after one serving and never wanting to go back in the kitchen all night long. All the while my mission was to sneak and eat as much as possible but never get full. Keep in mind I was not overweight until my mid 30's. Now I am well over 200lbs but I have felt obese (physically and mentally) all my life. My worry is that the obsession will remain after the pounds disappear. I want the icing on my cake so to speak. What I hope for is the obsession to decrease along with the pounds. The surgery decreases stomach size but what does it do for the brain obsession? That seems to be the part taking the toll on me. Thanks for letting me ramble my thoughts out.
  7. How does that stop with this surgery? All I do is think of food. That is what is the worst part now. How does it or does it not go away with this surgery. I want my mind to finally be able to rest....stop the obsession!

Back Pains that come with the band?

I had the worst shoulder blade pains for a few years. It took me pleading for an ultrasound of my gallbladder to finally be correctly diagnosed. No ulcers, no cardiac issues.I had multiple gall stones! My gallbladder needed to come out. No pain since GB came out two years ago! Sometimes it's the last thing the docs think of with us women when it should be one of the first.
