  1. Hi everyone, I'm in week 5 and I've been trying several new foods in all types of textures but I'm bored and don't know what to eat anymore. I want to eat healthy but I don't know where to start. Things like eggs, yogurt, baby food and sugar free jell-o are making me sick. I learned the hard way that ice cream, potatoe chips, diet soda and spicy food and spicy seasonings don't work well for me. I'm living off of ensure and crackers these days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    constipation???

Hi Tinacasa, Congrats on getting through the surgery. The first week or so I had the runs and I'm sure that will change for you soon. Since you're on liquids you will have the runs soon as well.

  5. Hi I'm in week 5 post open and constipation is a serious issue for me. Any suggestions?
  6. Hi Dream, Sorry to hear about your slow recovery. The weight will come off its just a slower process for women than men. For some reason men lose weight faster than women. I'm a little jealous of your friend because I've only lost about 30lbs. I find that I'm hungry about every 3 or 4 hours as well. Its because we are intaking small portions at a time so eating is more frequent. I sometimes realize my hunger is completely mental at which time I take a moment to get to the root of the problem. Not sure if your up for walking but I push myself to walk at least every other day to help with the healing and weight loss process. I wish you all the best with your recovery.
  7. Hi. Your progress is amazing! I wish I could have Peanut Butter and bread. I'm in week 4 and still eating baby food and yogurt. I want to do my best to follow the doctor's orders but it is a little discouraging to hear that other doctor's have allowed their patients more options than mine in week 4. Nonetheless I will continue to follow the rules because I don't want to set myself back or cause any complications. Wishing you all the best with your recovery.
  8. Hi Thanks so much for replying. My incesion has gotten a lot better and I was using gaze. The last of the glue has melted away so things are looking up. Thanks for the food ideas. I'm allowed to have sugar free items but I'm over those things. I just drink my water and ensure for the most part. My doctor had me on liquids for 2 weeks and puree for 4 weeks. Therefore unlike many others my puree stage is 2 weeks longer than most. I'm sure its because he wants his patients to lose as much weight as possible before moving to the semi-solid stage. I've learned my lesson with eating and certainly have some regrets about this surgery. Nonetheless I just want to get to a point where I can eat normally without a problem and I know I will make healthy food decisions.
  9. Hi Oregondaisy, Thanks for replying. I'm allegeric to fish, shell fish, sea salt and anything out of the sea. I did find that canned corn beef hash is mushie enough to eat and not too bad going down. I was going to try some canned tuna with a little light mayo but I didn't want to push myself because I hate to vomit. I will certainly try some ricotta cheese.
  10. Hi Everyone, I had surgery on Aug. 30th and my recovery is slow. I'm in the puree stage for 4 weeks which will be over Oct. 11th. However, my recovery is going very slow. I still have pain and leakage from my belly button. I get weak and feel like I'm going to vomit and my temp rises. I can't seem to find a food that works long enough for me. Yougurt was fine for a while, then ensure shakes, grits with cheese and now nothing really other than baby food and mashed potatoes. I'm afaird to eat too much of the mashed potatoes and grits because I want to lose the weight and I think the starch isn't good for me. Also, I realized that my mind wants to eat more than my stomach does. Since I've been home recovering all I do is watch the Food Network or The Golden Girls. Yes I realize some people can't watch anything to do with food but I'm completely the opposite. Watching the Food Network relaxes me and just gives me ideas of what to cook and eat when I can again. I do find that meeting friends and family at restuarants is very difficult for me. I hate being out in a food setting and can't order anything other than Water. Just wanted to know how everyone is handling this recovery process and weight loss is going if they had surgery on or around Aug. 30th. I'm 28 days post-op and 23 pounds lighter.
  11. Hi, I happy you survived the surgery because that's the first step. I had surgery 26 days ago and I completely remeber how horrible I felt as if it was yesterday. Everything that you're saying and experiencing I did too and regreted my decision. The best advance is to continue taking you pain medicine, walk around your home as much as you can and try your best to sip your Protein shakes. Also, don't forget to take deep breaths to expand your lungs which does help in the long run. I didn't get out of bed for the most part during the two weeks and was so sick of the Protein Shakes running through me that I stopped drinking them but that was a mistake. The protein shakes helps you to heal and keeps your energy up. I spent a lot of time watching television shows that distracted me from then pain and took medication to sleep as much as possible because the pain was too much. I will keep you in my prayers because this journey isn't easy but I'm hopeful that it will get better.
  12. CoffeeBean, Thanks for replying. Yes I can have yogurt but I haven't tried refried beans or split pea soup. I honestly hate soup but I will try some blended Soups with meat to see how that goes. As I think about it corned beef hash is pretty mushy and I like that so I will see the how the texture of that works tomorrow for me as well.
  13. Hi Everyone, Its been 26 days since my gastric sleeve and I'm so over this process. I was on Clear liquids for 2 weeks and now I'm in the puree stage until Oct. 11th (4 weeks). From was I've been reading most people are only on puree for 2 weeks but my doctor insist on 4 weeks. I'm running out of food options but all I eat is stage one baby food, mashed potates, grits, cream Soup, broth, Jello and yogurt. I feel like after this I'm never going to want to eat any of this things ever again. I'm running out of ideas about what to eat and my desire to eat has decreased because my options are so limited. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
