  1. well i love my surgeon! he and his partner, Dr Monash are the best! Both are bariatric surgeons of Excellance, the hospitals that they perform the surgeries at are bariatric surgery centers of excellance also. We have a support group that meets the first sat of the month, for all kinds of bariatric surgeries, and we discuss allkinds of things and there is a free zumba class at the end of the meeting, I cant say enough good things about them.
  2. I dont do dairy products, except eggs.I havent drank milk since i was in the fifth grade, just couldnt stomach it,but anything that smells like ,looks like, or has the consistency of milk makes me nauseous.Im wierd.

    Daily Vitamins

Lissa, its too bad that your PCP is against the surgery, but Im curious, you didnt have to get a letter from him saying that he agreed you needed to have the surgery? My ins required it. Kathy
  6. try taking small sips almost constantly, you are not going to be able to "drink" like you did before.its going to be small sips.i was able to put crytal light in my water,or try vitamin water.but you must drink, you dont want to end up in the hospital for dehydration, its no fun.

    Sleeved And 21

honestly getting drunk is WAY overrated.Im 53 and have been drunk maybe 3 times, one of those times was drugged in my drink, dont remember what happened to me in that time, and it was by the grace of the gods that I made it home alive,I do rememeber dozing off, on the interstate, almost going off the road, but i made it home, and this was done by so called friends.being healthy and happier is I think a lot more important than drinking, and likesomeone said its alot of empty calories, and dehydrates you which isnt good at all
  11. welcome !and goodluck! You will find everything you could possibly want to know and maybe some stuff you didnt! but its all good

Help 2 Weeks Post Op Today Hungry And Eating...

everyone is different, but you should feel the restriction,I do. if you are 2 weeks out you should be able to start on mushy foods real soon, but thats with your surgeons ok. start with eggs, any way but hard boiled. cottage cheese or yogurt.,if you still have concerns, call your dr,that why he is there, or should be there to help you I've called mine on a saturday and got a return call within an hour do you have a support group to go to,maybe at a local hospital, they are great for info and ideas.the one I go to is primarily full of lap banders,i think im the only sleeve and a few gastric bypassers, but all the info works and is good to hear

    Have A Bleeding Incision

my biggest incision seemed like it took forever to heal, and at my first post op I showed him,and he said to clean it couple of times a day with hydrogen peroxide and instead of a bandaid which would keep it moist, put cotton gauze on it,easier for it to dry out and as a precaution gave me antibiotics

    Pre-Sleeve& Disheartened

if you work at a hospital that does the surgery, dont they offer a discount for its employees? And I thought people went down to mexico who are self pay, because their insurance didnt cover the procedure or they dont have ins at all, maybe im wrong, but that seemsto be the general vibe i get and I agree with other posters who say who cares what other poeple think, do or say, its all about you and you getting healtheir and stronger, and being happier,to hell with everyone else
  16. I, like you, ate fast food almost three times a day,it was faster, easier, and,available..One day I just made up my mind,to cut back and i did that down to one time a day.i prepared my food at home other times,it was surprising i started losing weight just doing that.If you really have doubts, start now cutting back,or maybe subsituting one meal with a protein shake, just to see how you do. I am 2months post op and now once a day I go get pintos and cheese from taco bell.thats my one guilty pleasure, but it has protein and are good for you.and i cant even finish the small container, but you can do it! take one day at a time, and it will get easier

    Mentor Needed

can I tell you a secret? I havent even started to do any exercise yet.Shame on me I know. But maybe you are not getting even protein and as someone said on a different thread,if you dont eat enough your body goes into starvation mode and will not release any excess body weight as it is storing it.as a survival tatic,so getting your protein and liquids is very important.AlsoI know its hard, but dont weigh yourself everyday,it can be very depressing, and it also causes stress Can I ask why you are off work?laid off, vacation etc?Could it be causing you stress? It will pass you will start losing again just make sure you really try to get all your protein and liquids in

Went For My 2 Month Postop Yesterday

it happens, dont worry about it.One thing my surgeon always says, dont weigh yourself everyday,it can be misleading, and stress you out unnecssarily.Just make sure you are getting all your protein and liquids everyday, and if instructed to do so,all your vitamins and minerals, which i do faithfully eveyday. this too will pass:)

    Thinking About It....

Hi there from arizona I personally never felt sick after surgery, but I did have a shot and a patch placed behind my ear for nausea before surgery.I hate being sick also! I think my energy levels stayed the same, never really have had any cravings after surgery, except for about a month out,I wanted pizza,so I made one using a whole grain tortilla, pizza sause and mozzerella cheese and then baked it in the oven till the cheese melted,it was pretty good. Dont we all love food, thats kinda the problem!

    Nice To Meet You

as long as you get all your protein that you are suppose to get and definietely take your vitamins everyday, your hair loss should be at a minimum.Ithink the sleeve is a better option,in my opinion
