  1. Hello! I was sleeved on Aug. 31st by Dr. Garth Davis here in houston, texas. The davis clinic offer a support group but it would be nice to meet with other VSG'ers and get together to share experiences as for I am still fairly new to this!

What Have You Named Your Sleeve?

Ever since surgery I call my tummy my "baby tummy" because I literally easy like a baby lol. Even at work when I say I'm hungry, my Co workers say it's time to feed your"baby tummy"

15 Weeks Out Gastric Sleeve Surgery....

Hello Barbara, Thanks for your reply. It's sad to experience what we are experiencing but I'm glad I'm not alone. How much more are you about to eat? And drink? I used to be able to take sips only before but more I can swallow 2 normal sips without feeling like it's gonna come out. I am also able to eat maybe a cup now compared to the 4 Oz I was able to eat after surgery. I just hope this tummy doesn't stretch out much. I'm trying so hard not to let that happen. The hair issue, I'm just trying not to stress about it. I just hope I don't end up with bald spots lol Thanks again for your reply and keep in touch as well. Best of luck to you on your journey!
  4. Hello everyone, I am almost 15 Weeks out of having my VSG and I'm happy because I have lost in almost 4 months 60 lbs, but I am also paranoid. I feel like I have stretched put my baby tummy because Ican eat a little but more than what I used to and I can eat a little faster. Is this normal? I would sure hate to find out if I have stretched my tummy out even though I don't eat like I used to. I am also a little blue because I feel like I have hit another stall. For 3 weeks I have not lost but 3 lbs. I'm trying not bring myself down too much because I know I have lost weight but I guess I just feel scared that I will gain that weight back and this surgery would be another fail on my life. Anyone out there at 4 months experiencing similar things? I also have another question. hair loss has me going bananas! I know it's normal to lose hair but I dwell with all the hair I'm losing I'm gonna end up going bald. When does it stop?
  5. Hello everyone, I, as well am 3 months out. In September and October I was losing From 10lbs a month but November had been a tad but slower. Everyone is different but alike in so many ways. I fear I'm somehow messing up but still strive to lose weight. My doctor told me at my 2 month check that the first 6 months are critical. To try to take advantage of it. They also told me that it is completely normal to be hormonal and moody. There are hormones being released from fat so that is the culprit. Inclusively, I even had my cycle 3 times in November. Blah. Point is... Stay positive, motivated and confident. One day soon we will be in Wonderland!
  6. Hi everyone! Tomorrow I will be 7weeks post op and have lost about 20 lbs since surgery day! a year ago I was on 328 lbs and that pushed me into considering WLS. Now as of today I am 274. I'm excited but I'm also curious as to what everyone elseat 7weeks is at? I had hit my 1st stall in the last week of September and lasted 2weeks but I feel I could be doing better in losing the weight. I excercise for an hour 4 times a week and am sticking to eating fish chicken and veggies. Today I actually ate just the top part of a cupcake with no icing because its my birthday. Maybe its just me and I'm expecting too much too soon. I also read about losing hair at 3 months but looks like I started already and it actually makes me a little depressed.
  7. Hi Jill! Thanks for your reply and congrats on your 7th week also! My surgeon also told me about the same thing! Everyone is different and just try your best and use your tool the best you can. I am still curious though and still wonder, you know? Lol Protein wise, I can not do Protein shakes. I absolutely get sick when I attempt to take one. So my protein is from my food & the protein coffee's I drink. I try to stick to eggs, turkey, fish, chicken and diary mostly. Veggies go down fine if they are fully cooked and soft! Its hard and sometimes I feel I am not getting enough but I'm trying! Have you encountered hair loss yet?

Lost 29.8 lbs & nobody can tell :(

It should matter what you see! I was sleeved on Aug.31st and have lost 35lbs. Everyone see's it except me. go figure
  9. Taking it one day at a time!

  10. I had sob the first 3weeks after surgey. I used the spirometer daily. I would do it 10 breaths every hour and found it helped me alot.
  11. Well today I actually threw up my lunch! (sorry if tmi) I was actually bummed out because even though I have been nauseous before I have managed to ignore it and let it go down. I'm blaming the fact that I probably ate too fast. Had some chicken salad with carrots & peas. I did feel better when it happened, but I was shaky and looked pale. Wonder if anyone has gone through this? So for supper I just drank a smoothie. I was also wondering if anyone else gets bloated after they eat? It seems I notice my tummy feeling big & bloated everytime I eat . I have also gained some weight which has me bummed out. I was 283 last friday and today I was 287! Is this normal guys!? :: sighs :: hopefully my sleeve doesn't let me down like all my other diets. I just started excercising yesterday, dancing that is. Sorry I'm just going on bahahaha. I'm just going through so many emotions

    I guess I'm at a stall

Has anyone noticed that even though there is no weight being lost, they're losing inches? My scale is still at 285 for almost 2weeks but my clothes are fitting looser! Go figure. Im assuming this stall is very normal & rickm gave some very reasonable facts. Just be patient everyone. We are bound to get where we want to be
  13. Hi yikeit, wow I'm glad your sleeve saved your life! I wish you the best and hope they find no cancer still there. As far as vomiting everyday doesn't sound very good. I myself eat fast also but I'm trying to listen to my tummy because I really hate the feeling of feeling sick afterwards. Dont look at the scale everyday. I know its hard not to, but it will become your enemy. :/ I really hope everything turns ok and wish you the best:)
  14. H iSassygirl, Thanks for your input. Now I really wonder how many calories I was consuming before surgery because I could easily gain 4lbs a day prior to surgery. I'm just hoping for the best. Im trying to use this surgery the most I can to help me, just learning how to eat different and the new signals my body gives me is a challenge. But if everyone can do it, then me too! thanks
  15. Hi Jenosie, My sleeve was done almost 3 weeks ago. Dont get upset, just push on and continue eating, drinking healthy. I might call your doctor or nutritionist just to double check everything is ok. Keep your head up

    I guess I'm at a stall

I am also on week 3 since surgery and I'm also on stall. Been on it for almost 2weeks now. My weight goes up 3 lbs in the morning but lose those 3 lbs at the end if the day. Scale does not more anymore. I feel like the scale has become my enemy so I dont really weight myself everyday like I used to. Just every Friday. I have noticed some inches coming off even if my weight is the same. Dont get discouraged! Just hang in there! Our journey is not going to be easy. We can only try and let the rest work itself. What Rick stated makes so much sense. We are all here for the same reason but together we can do it
  17. Thanks Rebel. Congrats on your mushie phase! I was so excited when I started mushies! As far as being nervous, its completely normal to feel that way! I was so scared about "how does it feel to feel full?". I can only tell you listen to your body and when you feel full stop. I have learnedd that the hard way. Asfar as the weight, it is still at a stall but I have noticed some inches coming off. So thats good rght? Lol I'm trying to not stress about it anymore. Just push on. My water intake is more and my excercising is going good so its bound to come off soon I hope. good luck with your journey amd same goes to you. If you have questions, want to vent or anything. Im here!

August 2011 sleevers get in here!!!!!!

Hi Deevah! How neat! Congrats on your next big phase! I started eating soft solids not that long ago. eggs and oatmeal are my buddies in the morning (even though I can only eat 1 egg w/cheese on top) im really blaming my habit of eating fast as the culprit of me feeling too full and bloated but not sure. I have not tried tea. What kind of tea do you usually drink? Thanks for the support I wish you the best!!

Sleeved 3 weeks ago and now stalled

I have been posting all over the forum about this being my problem right now! Lol I honestly thought it was me and im not doing something right. I hate it. But I keep telling myself this cant be it abd try to push on. I an also 3wks out as of today. I actually returned to work last thursday. Felt well enough but was starting to doubt if I had gone back too soon because of the weight gain. I feel it's just excuses I'm giving myself though lol. I started excercising yesterday so hopefully it will push me even harder. Best of luck. Im pretty sure you will be fine. We can all hope for the best

    3 weeks 2 days out

Omg! I can totally can relate to you! I had my sleeve Aug 31st and the first week was miserable! I got depressed andthat is when I joined this forum! It was so hard to see my husband and family eating what they wanted and I had to have nothing but fluids. My surgeon really put me on pureed diet on the second week. As of today I am 3 weeks out but have found myself moping around because my weight feels like it has stalled even though my clothes is a little looser. I'm actually eating soft foods (fish, tuna, chicken) and they go down well. Bestest of luck to you!

August 2011 sleevers get in here!!!!!!

Hello! I was sleeved on Aug 31st. Had no real complications at the hospital, only allergic to the morphine and lortab they were giving me. I am on week # 3 and pretty much eating soft foods (chilli, tuna, chicken, some soft veggies). They are all tolerated well, except for today I actually vomitted my lunch today for the first time. Its hard to take in the 64 oz. of fluid I'm suppose to have so I think thats why I'm not really urinating as I should. My weight feels like it has hit a wall. Preop weight was 315. Today I was 287 but last Friday I was 283. I'm trying not to think dio much of it because then I will get depressed apk over again. I was depressed the week after surgery because I have felt my life will never be the same as far as the nausea and the fatigue. I'm perfectly fine with the change in eating just dont like to feel sick everytime I eat :/. Vitamins have been hard for me cause they made me sick but I take them smiler I eat now. I started excercising yesterday and actually was the highlight of my day. It made me feel better. Overall I keep trying to stay positive and push on for I have hope it still get bettr.

    Chewable vitamin...gag me!

I totally understand you! I actually noticed that happens to me also. So what I do now is actually break my big ol calcium in 4 pieces and bite one in between my food bites. Same with my vitamins. I have noticed the nausea went away when I started doing that. I'm just waiting to finish the big ol tub of bariatric advantage calcium and trade them with the caramel chewy bites they have. I tasted them at my surgeon office and they were yummy and didn't feel sick! Vitamins I'm gonna try the gummy ones because those chalky ones are just terrible!
