  1. Okay time for my story. My sleeve was done in Aug 2011. In Jan 12 I lost my job and was doing great and had lost weight from 269 to 185. When I finally went back to work in Aug 2012 I have gained back to 220 and feel just a fat as I was at 269. Before surgery I had never had love handles and still had a waist at any weight.

In Jan of this year, I started logging my 1000 calories on Fitness Pal and started doing some weight training and pliates. I follow this for 12 weeks and gained 2 pounds and it did not appear to reduce my stomach which is my demon. Talk about a kick in the teeth.

Since WLS surgery I have had shoulder and knee surgeries and struggle with most exercises. The best muscle builders are lunges and planks which are killers for my shoulder and knees. My knee pain does let me walk enough and high interval training does work with my chronic anemia.

Today I started on high Protein again and will see where this goes. I can't I say am all that happy with my sleeve.

This is my rant for today and good luck to everyone.

    Good luck I struggle daily

  2. @@frumpy69 You can do this. It's hard, but you know what to do. I'm sorry you gained, that's so discouraging! :/

@@globetrotter Good to see you back on the boards, though I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I whole-heartedly agree with your post. I don't think it's true for everyone, but it is certainly true for me. I have to be hypervigilant or I will gain. I have found that I can maintain my weight at 165 on an average of 1400 calories a day. I usually eat more on weekends, and dial it way back through the week, like about 1100. It's a battle all day, every day.

I Agree as well my sister who went with me can eat whatever she wants ! But I have always been that person that can't I'm just hoping i can get where I'm happy with myself

    1. How much weight did you initially lose post-op?I lost 72lbs
    2. Over what period of time? in a year and a half
    3. While you were losing weight, do you feel you stuck to the plan fairly well? Yes, I stuck to the plan for the most part except a bit in the summer when we were on holidays because i drank.
    4. Was there an event that sent you off your plan or did it happen gradually? I believe it happened gradually. slider foods are easier to eat than a dense Protein.
    5. When did you start going off track?Periodically . I would be completely strict then fall off the wagon.
    6. How long did it take you to regain the weight once you went off track? the first 40lbs happened within a 6-8 months period
    7. What sorts of bad eating habits crept back in that allowed you to regain the weight? I think just falling off track. I dont eat bread very often I dont eat rice Pasta makes me sick so does bread. rice feels like it gets stuck. my big thing is potato chips but i dont eat that very often either. If I dont buy it I dont eat it. I track my calories using my fitness pal and they are always in between 7 00- 1200 calories. I have GERD and now have to take prevacid for the rest of my life and I intermittently get low blood sugar. Surgery was still the best thing I ever did. I do still have restriction. I cant eat a lot but I think the main thing is that even though i can only eat a little at one time its not eating every 1- 2 hours. Need to eat 3 x a day. but again if my blood sugar dips I need to eat. I am not a big pop or diet pop lover. So this has never been an issue. I am not a sweets person but I love salty fatty foods. The more research I do I feel i might need a gastric bypass to get me going again. But i want to focus on back to basics. Head hunger Kills a person and the vicious cycle of feeling like a failure contributes to bad choices for me. So I am still looking for anyone who has been in the same boat. feel free to ask me anything.

  3. Has anyone ever gained back there weight and went for a second vertical sleeve surgery? I ask because I am back to my old depressed self and I have gained back almost 50 lbs I cant seem to lose the weight im back to eating really restricted one week then fall off the wagon for three days then get back on it and my weight does not go down but 1 lbs at a time seems to increase.

  4. Here's my little story! :(

December 9, 2011 I had Gastric Sleeve surgery and thought that i had it all figured out. Turns out i did real good for awhile but my weightloss stopped may 2012 and hasnt ever restarted, its been 2 years and i have gained 30lbs back. I find myself back to fad dieting and getting depressed. Also i never even got close to my goal weight. I wanna know if there is anyone else out there that has had this problem and if soo what they were doing that has had to change or health issues anything i need some insight .

    thank you

  5. I am in kind of in the same boat but different situation. I fell off the wagon and rolled down the hill! I nvr dreamed for a second that i would ever have to deal with my weight ever again. I hear of a lot of people who cant stop losing and it seems i started gaining. Im angry at myself for not staying focused. Its also hard to always still try to diet and healthy food seems to not go in as easy as the bad food . chin up my friend you are not alone. I hope you can get back on track cause everyday is a huge struggle for me.

  6. Hi how's everyone doin ? So I am a year and a half post op ! I have developed allergies and now have to watch everything I eat cause I don't lose and will gain weight so my advice follow the after plan of sleeve surgery to a "t" but I was wondering If anyone else has developed an allergy to food ? I still have to figure out what it is !

  7. So here i am 8 months later started with some bad habits and then completely fell off the wagon. i am worried that my sleeve is stretched and that i wont lose any more weight. I need to start at the beginning again. so anybody know if i follow the pouch test if that will help me get back to basics like make my sleeve feel like it did in the beginning? I mean i still cant eat alot. unless its liquidy. i sitll can only eat half a weiner or 3/4 or 1 egg things like that but i feel hungry or want to eat every few hours. is this normal or is it all in my head. if i have bread i can only have one slice but still. i do drink carbonated beverages they dont bother me will that stretch my sleeve or is it just over eating. i dont see how a liquid could stretch your sleeve. i can see how over eating. I need help like food councilling no doubt i know i am a food addict but i am aware of it just dont know how to stop i got this sleeve to change my life and it has but i still have failed to give up some habits. i find meat really hard to eat and i am lazy. lol well i just need some re adjusting and some help 12 steps for the foodaholic. lol well thanks for listening. just hoping its not to late and a ruined this wonderful tool. thanks again :)
