  1. Thanks! It's much improved today.
  2. Note to all: Do not get a fill just before any important event! I started running 2 weeks after surgeryin October doing the Couch to 5K, then started training to run my first half marathon. I should have been doing that this morning, but instead I was at my doctors office getting an unfill I got a fill on Wednesday afternoon and was good with just liquids for a couple of days. Starting yesterday I couldn't even get those down. I had my first PB from a smoothie... into a cup, in my car while driving. Not good. When it got to the point that I was puking water up I called my doctor and he told me to come in this morning. Obviously, after going 24 hrs with no liquids and being unable to drink, there was no way I could run 13.1 miles. So disappointed!! So I hope everyone can learn from my mistake and get a fill far in advance of any important events! Side note: When I got to the doc and he had me take a drink under fluoro, the liquid was going through, so I'm not sure if some swelling went down or what. Anyway, he took 0.3 cc's out and I was able to drink without pain. However now at home I'm sipping juice and while it's going down, it is a little uncomfortable, whereas in the office it was not at all. Any idea what gives with that?
  3. How wonderful for you!
  4. Yes, there are plenty of cute clothes to wear! My other goal is to buy a ridiculously expensive jeans...and no fat calves are gonna keep me from doing that when the time comes!
  5. Oh wow, I might have to look into this, thanks!
  6. Maybe you'll be able to! Maybe we both will
  7. Gosh, how sad! I know I've seen the wide ones...but they just don't seem as cute and there isn't nearly the variety. Oh well...luckily there are enough other wonderful things about being smaller that I *guess* I will survive even if I never get to wear them!
  8. Okay, I've read quite a few of the "skinny bucket lists" on here and notice that alot of you, like me, want to lose weight so we can wear sexy tall boots. Well here I sit, less than 30 lbs from my goal...and as of a month ago I tried on a pair and it still wasn't happening! *sad face* With only 30 lbs left to go I don't know how much of that can possibly come from my calves. Is there people at their goal who still can't wear them? Sheesh, are my calves really that fat? I assumed that any 150 lb girl whose an 8/10 like I should/hopefully will be would be able to wear tall boots!
  9. Thanks to all who replied! Glad to know I'm not alone. To any not banded yet...do not let me scare you off! Like I said, I love it and would do it again in a heartbeat. It's just a struggle at times, like most things in life. But the benefits far outweigh any negatives I have encountered so far.
  10. This thread gives me hope that I can be a size 8 when I reach my goal wt of 149...thanks girls!
  11. I'm 5'5", started at 253 squeezing into an 18, now I'm 180 and the proud owner of one pair of size 10s that miraculously fit, but I would say size 12.
  12. Thanks guys...I'm sure it will get better. Or at least I hope!!
  13. Way to go! Onederland is a wonderful place
  14. Okay, I'll start off my saying I love my band. Was banded in October and have lost over 70 lbs so far including the 9 I lost on the preop diet. Life is good...I'm the thinnest I've ever been, in the best shape of my life. I ran a 10 mile race and I have a half marathon coming up next month. I bought a pair of freaking size 10 pants for Pete's sake, which I have never done in my life. I only have 30 lbs left to my goal weight. I love my band and would do it over in a heartbeat. Of course there's a but.... I miss eating, the way I used to eat. I miss going to the Outback and eating bread, and salad, and the big onion and steak and fries. And it's not that I'm starving...I have enough restriction that I feel full off of a pretty small amount of food. I miss just "grabbing a quick bite" which is not even an option anymore. I just want to eat something without chewing it to death. And I know some people say they enjoy food even more now because they take the time to savor each bite, but I like it far less. To me, food chewed to the consistency of appleasuce tastes almost putrid in my mouth at times...hell I don't even like appleasauce! Add that to the fact that it's usually cold by the time I get done. Food is not enjoyable to me, which is depressing because it used to be so enjoyable. The exception, of course, is food like ice cream, chocolate and chips that are so easy to eat and as enjoyable as ever, but of course I try not to eat those too much. I realize it's all in my head, and my therapist and I are working on it ...just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way. Like I said,I'm happy to be banded, happy with my success so far, and I would take being at goal weight, healthy (and hopefully wearing a size 8) over a huge meal at the Outback, but still....
  15. Hmmmm.....I wore some Spanx like thing to a wedding on Saturday, but I'm not sure I felt any more restriction. If you do though, or at least think you do, then go for it! Whatever works for you
  16. I'm in! I've got the exercise thing down but my eating...not so much! I have about 34 lbs to goal...let's do this!
  17. Usually only people with heart problems have to take an antibiotic before the dentist to keep any infection that may be in their mouth from getting into their blood stream and traveling to their heart. If this is the reason you're supposed to take it, I would go home and get it
  18. Started the Couch to 5K in November, 2 wks post op, and just ran a 10 mile race this morning! It works!
  19. So I weigh 90 lbs less than I did at my highest, approximately 3 years ago. I weigh 76 lbs less than I did one year ago when I decided to get lap band and started my 6 months of nutrition counseling. I weigh 60 lbs less than I did when I started my 2 week preop diet Oct 1st. Finally, I weigh 51 lbs less than I did on Oct 17th, surgery day. So, when people ask how much I've lost, what do I tell them??
  20. Thanks for the tips guys! Definitely thinking temperature is an issue, not just in the morning but all day. Can get solids down okay, but a fruit smoothie is a struggle, even at 2 in the afternoon!
  21. I got my third fill on Thursday morning, so a little less than 48 hours ago. Did liquids for a day, that went okay. Tried a string cheese yesterday afternoon, chewed very well, but after a few bites it was obvious that it was not gonna happen, so I gave up and went back to liquids. Wake up this morning, drinking a glass of mlk but even that is kind of a struggle. Its goes down but I feel a lot of pressure in my chest while drinking it. I know that the fills can be tighter at first but then wear off some, so just wondering how long I should give it before i think about going in for a slight unfill. Thanks in advance!
  22. Yes, I continue to see the psychologist that I saw for my evaluation. She has been wonderful. I have issues with food/eating and my head that no surgery could solve.
  23. Today would be post op day 2
