I'm Going To Cheat
electronicart replied to lupediva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So eat a taco...why not? As long as you aren't on liquids or mushys, eat a taco....I had one for lunch Wednesday. I had the one I couldn't eat for supper, yum. -
I can only speak for myself. I love my band. It is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I too, wasn't lazy, worked my butt off, dieted, lost and gained more...over and over again. For the first time in my adult life, I have a tool that works. I still have to exercise and eat healthy. I would do it all over again.

Nervous About My 1St Fill Monday!!!!:-/
electronicart replied to beverlaay7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your doctor can call in a prescription for cream that numbs the skin over your port. When you get your fill, there is a small stick that REALLY numbs the area and viola, no pain. I presume this is pretty standard procedure. I was SO scared when I got my first fill and the fear was much worse than the reality. Look what you've already done...you can do this too! Just do it -
Am I Crazy For Wanting Lap Band Surgery?
electronicart replied to lrhodes46's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Getting banded is one of the best things I have ever done for myself . Its a personal decision if you ask me. I got a little static from a few people, but, most of my family and friends have been very supportive. The band is a tool that works for me. The more I lose, the more committed I get to the journey. For me, the difference between dieting and having a lap band that gives me restriction is that I don't lose and gain, lose and gain.....I lose and maintain, lose a little more and maintain. I love my band  -
I can no longer eat fast food which is good. The meat is too dry, bread gets stuck and its just too heavy. Scrambled eggs and tuna tend to get stuck too. I just have to slow down and chew, chew, chew!

Happy Bandiversary! -
Welcome newbies!!! Congratulations....whoo hoo!!!

My doctor put me on the sugar busters diet....google it....it works:)

Protein Shakes will help. I usually eat cream of chicken Soup. If I am still hungry after the Protein shake, I microwave a sweet potato, mash it up really good with a lot of 1% milk (until soupy) put some healthy butter, cinnamon and splenda on it. Yum!!! It might sound a little icky, but, you can put veggie soup in the blender too. Its not pretty, but its goooooood!

Shoulder And Neck Pain Not From Surgery Gas Or Eating Too Much!
electronicart replied to armymom2012's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had shoulder pain for months. I wondered if I was going to live in pain. Thankfully, it subsided and I rarely have the referred pain. I have some bad discs in my upper back and go to a chiropractor for adjustments and therapy. Its wonderful:) Hope you get better soon! -
Very Frustrated...only Lost 31 Lbs
electronicart replied to Snowymtnrn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Always start your day with Protein. There are a lot of Protein drinks (watch the sugar!) or you can make your own. I like Syntrax nectar. Keep your Snacks small and drink your water:) Find an exercise you can live with, and do it regularly. Be good to yourself and don't beat yourself up. The scale will move...down.... -
Whoo Hoo....get ready for your new life. The first week can be challenging, but, time will fly by and soon you will be in the groove. You should be good to go for work next week. Congratulations and good luck!

I think many of us have gone through the "what ifs". My fear of failure (in any area) has kept me from living my life to the fullest. Now, I don't know about you, but I just don't want to live my life that way any longer. I definitely had to get out of my comfort zone when I decided to have surgery. I am so much healthier and happier. It took a while to get my head wrapped around everything. Now, this is my new normal. I've had no complications and hope I never do. You are stronger than you think....

Since losing just 34lbs, old friends look at me kind of weird...like they can't quite put their finger on it. The ones that have been through the journey with me (co-workers and family) give me lots of support. I feel so much better already. Just going in the closet and grabbing a pair of pants that never fit before and putting them on with ease is so cool. Makes me happy!

I love wine on the weekend. Its a treat for me after working all week. I truly believe red wine is good for you....and its yum!

Just Got Home From My First Fill...afraid To Eat.
electronicart replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor says 48 hours of creamy liquids. I love cream of chicken Soup. Baked fish should work for you, its pretty mushy after you chew it. For me, the first few fills didn't provide a lot of restriction. It wasn't until my band was half full that I really felt a difference. Thats just me. -
I'll tell ya....I hate to exercise. That is, before I go. I drag my rear end down to the gym for 30 minutes or so, five days a week. Even that little bit makes me feel so much better. It takes a while to develop a habit, twenty one days is what the experts say. Its great to find an activity to do with your kids, but, its also good to have some "me" time, even if it is exercise, ha ha. You can do this!

You've come to the right place. Are you ready? Insurance approved? Go for it!
