Jlburger...wow talk about stress. I know u want to be there and healthy for your girls when hospitalization is finished. Just noticing that i are a bit out of control helps. Maybe it can help u realize that you need to make the right choices when overindulging...like lite cheese sticks and veggies. Or nuts with 60% dark chocolate bits...so at least you won't be adding insult to injury. Controlling yourself for the girls will send positive messages about future to them. What do u think?

You are reading the wrong posts here. We are all way past the first year. Our gains mean something different from yours.
Your gain is just an anomaly stemming from the body adjusting after surgery. You didnt gain anything really. Hang in there. Stick with sleevers who share your surgery date. You will find similar no worry experiences. U dont get yo panic til waaaaay later.

Scurry that's us in a nutshell! We are carbaholics and there us NO rationing when they are around. And we act irrationally in the presence of spaghetti. I smother onions and mash cauliflower season and eat the whole damn thing in one sitting cuz it's my potato substitute

Oregon, former vbg i hate to say it but in the "misery loves company" category i DO sincerely appreciate that you share your burdens and stories. I am bouncing between 188 and 200. I am doing all the right things as well. My ankle is killing me from all the exercise and i get knots from musvle cramps when i do it. But i havent let that deter me. Yes, i dispair. Right now the ENT wants a biopsy of my epiglotis. No one told me that the gluey throat sensation is a symptom of acid reflux! Thats why i stopped Nexium which killed bowel control and cost me 3 pair of sneakers...and finslly when i went to ENT he told me our surgery causes that gunky gluey stuff. Now on protonix brand name stuff and that does not cause bowel issues.

Excellent advice. That's just the way it is. I am also struggling with passover carbs and this year, for the first time, gave into it. Am up five lbs. On the down side now.

Bubbletoes...the board is historically quiet. But when people need something specific, someone always seems to respond. I was 66 when i got my sleeve in 2011. This past week holiday brought me 10 lbs but im down 2.5 from that. Whatever, we wont steer u wrong. Its gonna be a struggle but the first year or two should be a real gift to yourself. Be determined to enjoy it!

I have always said i am eating only good healthy food. BUT U HAVE TO STOP EATING ALL OF IT. That habit respects no restrictions and i doubt i will ever forget to eat.
Right now had 3 year follow up and weight is 4lbs up from last year. They were not upset about it and thought i am doin well. Next fri will see if i have a polyp in my throat. Am freaking out abt that. The thing thats there is responding to atavan! Weight was 195.6 this a.m.

Viiki I have the same prob. Im almost 200 again. Scared out of my mind. I do not have bad food in the house. I have everything good for me. But I eat all of it. And it's the habit thats the problem...not what we are eating. No advice. Need it myself

I definitely can eat a full restaurant meal and feel hungry again an hour or two later. I do spare carbs and eat Protein first. Do not drink during or closely after eating. No liquid with calories. Crave 'fudge' 40 cal ice pops. Try to snack on string cheese and nuts. ALWAYS HUNGRY thats how I was b4 the sleeve. I weighed 428 and am now at 192-95. Lowest was 188 in july. Yes i work out religiously and walk the doggie. I know the struggle is constant but I did NOT expect to be thinking abt food every minute. Its boring!

    Wondering1,
I don't believe we ever overcome this addiction. This is what I determined from the first several months. I think the docs are barking up the wrong tree by removing the grehlin. I don't think surgery is a good idea and I would advocate for more stringent, rigorous training of the medical/psychological providers in the actual effects of surgery. I would suggest that the requirements for getting approved be greatly revised. Right now, they're laughable.
I think only people who actually are obese and have suffered the consequences and who've had the surgery sould be speaking to those who haven't yet had it and should tell the truth: 1. We will be forever vigilant about exercise and food. 2. We will 'forget' that at the risk of ballooning back to where we came or worse. We will never be able to relax or 3. Allow ourselves the luxury of resting on our sleeves, so to speak.
So you've only gained 3 or 4 solid lbs. If you don't want to keep buying a new wardrobe, get back on track and regain your determination and restart exercising. Drink the Water. Jump start the wtloss with Protein drinks and lose it again. It IS all up to us.
    Wish you best

I thought the same when I was 66. now I am 68. I changed some things. the old habits are still there. but being 190 is better than being 320 or even the 428 I carried for 10 years. go for it

Right! If I knuckle down amd attend every bite I can hope to lose weight but I cant or dont want to have that on my mind constantly. I want to live with the sleeve and not have the sleeve become my life. Thats whats making me disgruntled and grumbly. Im trying like nuts to get back on a 64 oz Water gig. That really does take uo some slack. Before, when I said I eat cheese and nuts well I also try to steer to veggies first. I 'found spirulini and use it with zucchini but it lost novelty value in a couple weeks. I romanced dried kale and that lost novelty value soon after I spent the dough on a 9 shelf hunk. I dunno what I want exactly...maybe the same magic the sleeve came with initially. I think for all that agonizing and worry and blather the honeymoon should've lasted longer. I feel shortchanged. B8t im glad to have a grump fest. Thanks for listening!
