  1. Very well stated. Im 72 and i am stuck with old body images. I cant dismiss a gain as easily as u do. But one thing i do not experience 5.5 years out from surgery is the sleeve stopping me from overeating anything.
  2. "Sometimes the truth stings..." Im not going to engage this discussion. I know i have complied with the directives given and i know i reached goal. I also know i am gaining weight. If ypu wish to continue to caste these aspersions at me witjout knowing my circumstances...have at it. Apparently it makes you feel good. Best wishes to both
  3. I would not be ableto stop eating donuts for the rest of my life. I once attended a mindfulness eating demo. I had been told NO DRIED FRUIT. The leader asked that'we participate with a sinle raisin. I noted that i am not permitted dried fruit. She looked at me for a long moment and asked it just pne raisin would hurt. Of course not' the majority of the participants assured me. Well, it was evening...the class let out at 830. I did not have any dried fruit in the house so....i ate it. When i got home, on my doorstep were several packages ritual gifts given on a holiday i celebrate named Purim. And in one package was a one ounce box of raisins. You can bet your bottom dollar there was not one raisin left in that box. Luck was with me: i managed to put all the other components of the baskets into the trunk of my car and donated the contents the next morning. But that is exactly hiw a carb affects me. I have not even inhaled any sugar or simple carb since that time.
  4. Jess... [GASP] u eat donuts? I would die if i took a crumb from one.
  5. "The people on here that do not reach their goal or that regain all their weight later never changed their relationship with food, depended on the "honeymoon period" to do what they did do, and more or less were seeking to "eat normally, but just less" (which is a fallacy, in my opinion)." This statement is so enraging that i can barely contain my anger in response. I dont kbow how many years out you are from your surgery or your age or your life situatuon but i sincerely hope for your sake that it necer changes for you in any negative way. Gd forbid you would have to accept being imperfect.
  6. "BUT most of us didn't get fat on Protein. Usually it was simple, refined carbs. " i resemble that remark....biiig time.
  7. @slimmingsteff BINGO! You hit the nail on the head.
  8. I find that eating a simple carb is triggering for me. That's why i choose not to touch them. I find eating complex carba also tritriggering. At my age, 6 years after vsg, i am gaining & miserable but with arthritic pain, not able to throw myself into the exercise as before. Someone suggested a different diet that puts protein last but leafy greens and complex, carbs (veg and fruit) first. It made me ravenously hungry. Did not want to stop eating berries. So....

Alec sent me a message i cannot retrieve...so I can't read it. Apparently, phone platforms have been abandoned. I think alec cares b u t it may not take top priority. I understand from other discussions thst there was or is some agita posted by 'disorderly' members and their membership was rescinded. I hate politics.

Ok. You're knowledgeable. Point is, this worked BEFORE they made the change.

Its shoddy because this very popular and populated website should adapt to all the different approaches (laptop, phone, desktop). That takes planning. Dale, nobody ever asked me to donate here. You r the first. Do u work for the forum? I hve no idea how it is funded. But you are not right to demand a donation from anyone.

    Over 200 pounds down!

Dash....me too. I get on the scale and automatically say 306. I still dont trust that I was ever in the 'onederland'...I was! I have witnesses to it. I want to believe I will get back to the ones and I did this novembe r during my trip to israel. I hope to get back to the ones end of this month when I visit in fla. But it never stays there. Invariably I get a cold or something requiring prednisone and I go haywire. Hard to accept this as the status quo but better than 3xx or 4xx

    Over 200 pounds down!

U look great. All I can say is do not let the success go to your head. Do not allow the new you feeling to scare you, either. You won't get tooin small. My highest was 428 so I have a limited idea of what u might be experiencing. It's a very heady feeling and hard to take in the "new you". Just keep on the path. The shrink says its the same tx as for alcohol or other addictions. We did fool around once trying to imagine not drooling over a hot pastrami sandwich (on rye with mustard!!) But i purposely aborted that one. EMDR does work, though for trauma andi wholeheartedly suggest anyone with ptsd try it. I need to accept that i am seriously addicted to simple carbs and must avoid them for life. No magic or surgery no mantra or mindfulness has been helpful in dealing with this issue. Still working on the batch of supplements the holistic med doc gave me but am getting thrown off schedule because i developed an unrelenting upper respiratory cold that stubborn ly kees getting worse no matter what i throw at it. Am grateful i did not have it the whole time i was in Israel.

Lipstick lady...yup. so far im told bacterial overbloom in gut, poor absorption of what i do eat and that everything i am eating is the right food for me. Im told to eat more fermented food and get more magnesium. Am on methylated b12 , 10k vitamin D, 7keto DHEA, ultrazyme, prebiotics, probiotics, and stuff i havent started yet.i spent 18 days in israel, ate out everyday snd lost 2 lbs. Living alone doesn't help. I did better on vacation than here. And i still battle with a slice of bread (which ive not touchedsince 2011. My friends attacked foccacia bread and oil in front of me and i didn't even feel jealous. Couldn't even finish my meal. But now, a week later, i find myself thinking back to that scene and boy do i taste that bread.. wonder if EMDR will workbfir carbs like it does for trauma

Struggling with carbs means (to me) knowing that i cannot ever yield to the temptation and expect to have a reasonable response to having ingested a portion. The surgery did not provide any easier way to manage one potatoe chip or one quarter cup halo top icecream. The struggle for me means if i buy the halo top pint and eat the first spoonful, i will not beable to stop until i have ckeared the whole pint. If i wouls drink one beer, i would obsess about the other five. If i allow one banana, i would not beable to contain the carb cravings that follow. When it comes to simple carbs i simply am never satisfied. If surgery was supposed to have accomplished yhat, then mibe failed
