    Happy Anniversary To Me

I thought membership in the century club was only if you made it to under 200. I ain't there, yet and as of now, don't think I ever will be. But, still plugging. Still trying. Another 80 some odd lbs....c'mon 199....

    Happy Anniversary To Me

There is a cheap solution to the ring pblm. Ask your jeweler for a ring guard. It slips onto the bottom of the ring and can be made smaller as needed. Then, when you're done, u can spend the bucks to have the ring resized.

  10. I'm 8 months out and the other nite something got caught in my umbilical hernia and I ended up vomitng bile. Doc said see surgeon and surgeon said get operation asap because something ccan get stuck in hernia and strangulate. I'm terrified. Read that umb mesh repair is most painful for the longest time. You can't stand up. Burning pains etc etc. This is going to be more painful and less easy to recoup from that vsg and gall bladder How will I manage to eat? How will I manage pain med (oxycondon...allergic) How do u poop if you can't stress abdominal area? Already am constipated/diarrhea rotation from vsg Should I insist on old fashioned repair or accept mesh? HELP Sent from my SGH-T839 using VST
  11. Wondering1, I don't believe we ever overcome this addiction. This is what I determined from the first several months. I think the docs are barking up the wrong tree by removing the grehlin. I don't think surgery is a good idea and I would advocate for more stringent, rigorous training of the medical/psychological providers in the actual effects of surgery. I would suggest that the requirements for getting approved be greatly revised. Right now, they're laughable. I think only people who actually are obese and have suffered the consequences and who've had the surgery sould be speaking to those who haven't yet had it and should tell the truth: 1. We will be forever vigilant about exercise and food. 2. We will 'forget' that at the risk of ballooning back to where we came or worse. We will never be able to relax or 3. Allow ourselves the luxury of resting on our sleeves, so to speak. So you've only gained 3 or 4 solid lbs. If you don't want to keep buying a new wardrobe, get back on track and regain your determination and restart exercising. Drink the Water. Jump start the wtloss with Protein drinks and lose it again. It IS all up to us. Wish you best

Will Medicare Pay For Sleeve Surgery

    Its not yet approved.
  13. I think, reading your reply, that MY problem is what to do after I'm full. I do get the sense of fulness and sometimes overly so, like just before when I walked doggie, I felt so stuffed that I wondered if I would hurl in the street. I didn't. But am tired, my feet hurt and I've had a looong day. When we came in, I sat to watch tv and blamed if I didn't drink a whole bottle of Vitamin zeio and THEN reach for nuts. I think I'm nuts, literally. I do hear from u and others that I'm not done yet or at a point where I can change my diet at will. I've only lost 101# and I have almost another 100 to go as much as that brings congratulations, I'm still over 200Lbs. I get scared when I think of how much I've lost and wonder if I'm sick and actually feel weak...which is ludicrous (sp??). I still work out 5 to 6 times a week I can and I will continue with the program at least for the year. I ve never been at a right weight for more than a few weeks. It's a huge challenge. (Yes, I do hafe a shrink I'm working with 2x a week)
  14. I used to, prior to surgery. Now the surgeon suggested strongly that if I eat these carbs, I risk not being able to control my hunger and won't lose weight. I know these fruits are "good for us" but he scared me out of my mind and I don't know what to do. I'm disgusted with all the Protein (esp meat) and want fruit desperately . I think the more fruit I have, the fewer caloriesand fat I will consume...but eating the protein until full and then veggies is counter intuitive.
  15. I resemble all these remarks. Not about the deserts but salty chips etc. Do any of u eat fruit?

    Senior Sleevers

Ok. I've lost 100# as of last Thursday. I'm 67 now and started serious thinking @ this when I was 64. I do not like being on a carb restricted diet all my life. I cannot have any carbs like fruit AT ALL.. I don't look for bread, cake etc. But I've lost my taste for excellent foods that prevent diseases like blueberries etc. I 'cheated' with a few boxes of blues and can't stand the taste any more! I think this is just as unwise as the bad habits that caused all this weight! I lost 128# with phentermine over a period of 8 years and kept it off. I exercised and took the meds and lost the weight. Then fell a couple times, broke a bone here and there developed impingements requiring PT and had to curtail the exercise. Also, the doc would stop the meds every so often but until the enforced lack of exercise, I maintained the wt loss. It started creeping back up and I panicked. The doc suggested a band and I started investigating the surgeries available. I never had dm (my a1c has always been good) my cholesterol has always been o.k. but the good cholestrol has always been too low. I have and continue to have sleep apnea, ankle pain, venous insufficiency on one leg, and a host of emotional issues. My thyroid meds are down and I don't take asthma puffs anymore. I still walk with a walker, but at least I do walk. I'm down several clothing sizes and enjoy that freedom. But the surgery requires that I never ever change from this "diet" and I don't like that. I can eat asparagus...but you can't buy one or 4 stalks so the waste is huge. I make lettuce sandwiches but you can't buy just a few leaves of lettuce...again, a waste. I eat steak whihc I never ate before (preferred more of a veg diet) and don't mind eating it but don't like reports that people on Atkins type diets are dying of heart disease. I took vertical sleeve because the hype is you can eat anything after but the reality is YOU MUST MAINTAIN THE DIET AT ALL COSTS or you will not lose weight and you might gain back what you lost. Its a tool? Yeah, for quick wt loss. Is it a cure? NO. Other people love their sleeves...I don't love it. I don't hate it, either, but I'm sort of resigned to it. Also, I either have the runs or am constipated for days. It seems to move in a cycle...I don't like being hit unexpectedly with diahrea and have had to throw out shoes, clothes, garments that get soiled to say nothing of missed appointments etc. My surgeon, who was voted top doc in one of those magazine polls, stopped communicating with me when I asked him if I could have popcorn. He doesn't trust nutritionists and if I consult with one, I am out of compliance! Those are his words. I never touched popcorn since dec 5 2011 and was just asking a question because pple here do say they've had popcorn. Obviously its worse than a 4 letter word. So, that's why I am not pleased with my decision to have the surgery. Would I put back the wt and go back to before dec 5th if I could??? No! I like tying my shoe laces myself. I like buckling my seatbelt without two extensions. I like being able to walk a mile or more with the walker. I still have afib, pulmonary hypertension, veinous insufficiency, thyroid med, heart med, ankle pain (agony) and a rotten attitude. I'm still pursuing therapy, as well. For a draconian solution to a huge problem, I hoped for an easier life without a focus on food and body. It ain't happened, yet. Will it? I dunno. Plus, its not permanent unless I maintain the status quo? Will I? I dunno. Can I? I can only try. If you are looking for sunshine, lollipops and roses, just be aware that you gotta plant them and debug the bushes, the lollies have to be sugar free and you make your own sunshine...still. Good luck!

    Sleep Apnea Study

Thanks capt, but I did have the pulse ox overnite test a few pounds ago and I still needed it then. As of thurs, I've lost 100#. I'm still @ 95# shy of a normal bmi...so its ok for now. I know many are released from this after losing but I have pulmonary hypertension, as well. I will see what to do when I lose another 20. My thyroid med is down somewhat and I no longer need diuretics or asthma meds. Those happened almost immediately. This is taking longer. I got time

I'm a coward...I wonder if I'll end up drooling like an idiot and totally unable to contol myself after eating one of these. At least that's what the surgeon would have me believe. I do want to try it...but WHAT IF i really lose control after 7 mos??? Where do u get the wrappers anyhow?

    Sleep Apnea Study

If u have it, they will tell u how many times per nite you stop breathing or your blood oxygen falls below a certain number. Then, if you use the machine, it can prevent stroke. If you don't, you gamble. I learned to wear mine because I don't need a stroke. If you bhave it, your insurance will cover the machine. You will have a million other tests and hoops to jump thru b4 surgery...this ain't so terrible...just ask them to use the odor free glue

    Valuables In The Hospital

I was told not to bring anything. Friend who drove me took my purse home with her. U don't need anything at all...not even your toothbrush but I brought my electric with me anyway. Kept it in drawer. Had my nook and sidekick plugged into the wall. Keep everything in your clothing bag until u can use ur electronics after u wake up and orient yourself. Other than that, u don't need a thing.
