  1. wtg! I am at the beginning of my post op journey and cant wait to be where your are!
  2. I had my surgery a few days ago and I just started my full liquids yesterday. I find I get hungry about every 2.5 hours. My dr. told me to divide my Protein drink in thirds and spread it out over the day. I can fill in the gaps with 1/4 to 1/2 cup cream soups, Jello, yogurt drinks and watered down cream of wheat but nothing with lumps. I will be on full liquids for a couple of weeks then on to pureed foods. Try not to eat mushy foods too soon as your stomach is still healing and you dont want to do anything to harm your band or your stomach. Lots of luck on your journey to a healthier life !
  3. In order for you to be up 1.5 lbs for real you would have had to eat a lot more than what you did. Your body is just regulating itself to its new way of life. I was up a few pounds the day after surgery (on Saturday) and I am back down now minus a couple of more pounds. Stick to your doctors orders. He/she knows what is best for you at this time . You dont want to start any bad habits that will be hard to get rid of once you are feeling better. Lots of hugs coming your way .
  4. I am only 2 days post op and my gas pain comes and goes. It is across both shoulders. My info booklet says it could last 2 to 3 weeks.
  5. my surgery was a 9.20 am. on Friday. I was released at 12.20 pm and went to my cousins for a short nap. About 2pm we went shopping and stayed out for a few hours. I felt great except for a little gas in my shoulders. Went shopping yesterday and this morning and still feel good. The walking really helps. I have a 3 hour drive home tomorrow that I am not looking forward to. I plan on stopping a lot along the way.
  6. I have very little gas pain. I had my surgery at 9.20 went back to my cousins at 12.20 and had a short nap. After my nap we went shopping. Had no discomfort whatsoever. I also slept on my side last night. Went shopping again today. The best part is - I am not hungry! I was on water all day yesterday and start my fluids today. Tomorrow I can start cream soups and protein shakes. So far this has been a very good experience! Wishing you as good a recovery as I seem to be having!
  7. I had my surgery yesterday morning and I was out shopping last night. I also had a hernia repaired. Was also shopping this morning. I havent had to take any pain killers yet and I have very little gas pain in my shoulder. I didnt expect it to be this easy.
  8. omg I thought someone died after surgery...lol
  9. put them in the freezer and then one day when you really want a treat take ONE out and have it. You rule the cookies, they dont rule you!
  10. Had my surgery at 9.20 this morning and left the recovery room at 12.20. I have very little pain so far and I dont regret having it done at all (yet)! I am on just Water all day today. Tomorrow I start my broths and Sunday I can start cream Soups and Protein drinks. So far not hungry at all. He put 4 cc s in the the band. Forgot to ask him what size band I have. The treatment at SWLC was amazing! A very calming and relaxing place and Dr. Colbourn is awesome!
  11. I did it!!! I am officially banded! Surgery was this morning and I am feeling great! I am on Water for the rest of the day and start clear Soups and liquids tomorrow. Still cant believe it!!!!
  12. What is the actual size of a bite after being banded? Is it as small as a pea?
  13. thank you Teresa for the encouraging words! My rational mind says I am being silly.
  14. I lost a total of 8 lbs so far on my pre op. This is my last day of those vile liquids. I have lost 22 lbs since Christmas (inluding the pre op) so I am happy with the results. If you are doing everything right on your pre op diet then I wouldnt worry about how much weight you are losing. Lots of good things are happening inside your body that you cant see to prepare you for the surgery.
  15. Thanks a new dawn and kittylove. That is just what I needed to hear. It is a huge step I am taking and if I could only wrap my head around the fact that I will be able to eat - just smaller portions - then I should be ok. My mind thinks I will never eat again. I guess it is because I have been on my liquid diet for 2 weeks and I am craving food.
  16. I am one day away from surgery. I have been so excited for the past few weeks. Now that is so close why am I so depressed. Woke up this morning feeling awful emotionally. Is this normal?
  17. I will be banded on Friday (Oct.19). Butterflies are getting worse...lol
  18. I am being banded on Friday and I found reading your post to be very helpful and inspiring!
  19. Congratulations! Keep us posted.
  20. How far along are you on your pre op diet? I felt sick the first day or so but after that I got used to them and drink them now with no problem. I have 3 more days of my pre op diet to go.
  21. I think the consensus is that the lap band does work whether it is put in at Slimband, SWLC , CIBO or any other clinic as long as you work with it. And as long as they have the proper aftercare. I say one should go with wherever one feels the most comfortable. 4 more days and I will be banded at SWLC!
  22. Congrats on your weight loss!
