  1. If I have a hernia it will be repaired as well but wont cost me any more than the initial surgery fee of $16,000.
  2. I have hypothyroid as well and will be banded on Oct. 19th. I wouldnt be doing it if my dr. thought my thyroid would be a problem. He says we will probably have to adjust the meds as I lose weight.
  3. I am on day one and I am not allowed broth. Lucky you! My pre op diet is 3 shakes a day plus up to an additional 225 calories of veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, spinach etc. No root veggies.
  4. Just wondering if you can use Carnation Instant Breakfast for a protein shake post op? I saw some the other day with no sugar.
  5. I can relate to how you are feeling. I have 2 weeks to go and the butterflies in my tummy just wont settle down...lol One minute I am excited the next I am scared but from what I have read it is all completely normal
  6. Started pre op diet today. It is going to be hard to stick to this for 2 weeks! I am not really craving food though. I just cant stomach the smell of the shakes. I put some peppermint extract in my last shake today (chocolate flavored) and it seemed to help a bit. Tasted ok, just had to hold my breath to drink...lol
  7. Wishing you lots of luck! I will be banded the week after you.
  8. Started my pre op diet today. First shake was horrible so I added some cocoa powder and vanilla extract to my chocolate lunch shake and it went down a little better. I cant stand the smell so I hold my breath while drinking...lol I am a little hungry between shakes but nothing I cant handle.
  9. Awesome news Meave84! How was your experience with SWLC. I will be banded there on October 19th.
  10. I will be banded on October 19th in Mississauga, Ontario. Started my pre op diet today. Cant say I love the shakes...lol

  13. Hi BJC1227! Start my pre op diet on Friday and will have my surgery on October 19th. I am both excited and scared...lol Lots of butterflies in my tummy !
  14. Awesome! Let us know how it goes.
  15. So happy you are ok! We were all so worried about you. Make sure you take it easy for a while.
  16. In her last post she was on the way to the ER because she was having trouble breathing. Has anyone heard how she is?
  17. good tips! I need to start thinking about post surgery as well.
  18. amazing transformation in such a short period!
  19. There should be a list of hotels in the package they gave you (mine was emailed to me since I am 3.5 hours north of Toronto.) I am being banded on a Friday and will stay at my cousins place at least till Sunday. Then I hope I will be able to drive myself home Sunday.
  20. I have 3 weeks to go and I started getting sick last week. I think it has finally run its course and I am starting to feel better. I have the exact same concerns that you do.
  21. I had a consultation with SWLC and Slimband and decided on SWLC. I was not impressed at all with the staff at Slimband (it is the name of the weight loss centre, not the name of a lap band). I will be banded by Dr. Cobourn on Oct.19th. I know several people who have been banded by him and they are very happy with the aftercare.
  22. Wishing you lots of luck!
