  1. I still can't eat chicken breast, I can eat canned chicken if I add cottage cheese or FF mayo. I would love a few bites of chicken with lemon pepper...oh well. I can eat small bites of steak or pork chop,,,but no roast beef or ham.. who knows why. We all are different and will find what works for us. Good Luck

    Mocha Frappe

Unjury is the only powder that I like..and only 1 flavor. I used the Oh Yea bottle from the Vitamin Shoppe. It was really good, and 32 protein. Way to expensive to by now, but was great on the liquid trip. Looks like you are well on your way to success..........Good Luck
  3. 1. How long have you been banded?............6 months 11/30/11 2. How much weight did want to lose?............ around 100 pounds 3. How much weight have you lost?............... 72 as of today 4. How happy are you that you have been banded: Scale of 1-10 (1 being regretful, 10 being elated) I now have my life back.....best decision I have made since picking out my hubby. Hope to lose another 35, as the doc has indicated that would great. 1-10 ? 20+ Good Luck

    Pre Op Diet

Tomato soup and non fruited yogurt saved my life before and after surgery's liquid diet times. Breakfast...cream of wheat or grits with milk helped me start the day. I remember those days....hang in there it will pay off. A smaller/shrinking liver means an easier op for the surgeon and you. You will get to the point when you no longer crave sugar, can't say the same about salt. Would die for a bag of chips; however not an option for me. Good Luck.......................

    6 Months As Of Today!

Great work.. sounds like we are about at the same place...time frame and weight loss. Most folks think I'm crazy when I talk about 50 + grams of protein a day..good to hear you are following the same plan. However I am nearly 62 years old and waiting on a new knee so my exercise is limited to walking the dogs. I have another 40 to lose to make the doc happy. Like you it would be nice to do it by the 1 year (11/30/11) mark, but if not...I will continue to live this new life and enjoy. Good Luck
  6. wow.. you have had your share of problems... make the best decision for your well being.... try not to compare to your hubby....MEN Good Luck and take good care of yourself physically as well as emotionally.
  7. Only 6 months out and have had 6 fills in 7cc band... .75cc pulled back out. I AM THERE. I'm down 72 pounds since 11/30/11. MEASURE YOUR FOOD.....NEVER EAT OVER 1 CUP OF FOOD, EVEN IF YOU ARE STILL HUNGRY. I had to start this the day after surgery...per my doc....1 Cup mostly protein 3 times a day....am & pm high protein snack....water, water, coffee, tea... LIQUIDS. I remember being so hungry at night. A member posted if you are THAT Hungry..drink a protein shake....if you don't want the shake..then you are really not that hungry....works for me...Good Luck.

    2 Questions...cherry Tomatoes & Pilates

Have not been able to eat the grape tomato; they don't go down no matter how much chewing. Just waiting for my garden to pop so I can skin a fresh tomato.
  9. It will pass....Gas X strips....work well I have been told. I lucked out on that issue. Had 5 packages of the Gas X strips ready and waiting...did not need them. You are just getting started....good luck.

    Two Days With Restriction And...

HAD THE SAME ISSUES INITIALLY. MY SURGEON SAID YOU WILL HAVE IT; THEN LOSE IT UNTIL YOU ARE AT THE PERFECT FILL. I HAVE A 7CC BAND, I HAD 6 FILLS, WENT OVER, AND HAD .75CC REMOVED. YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU ARE THERE. IF YOU CAN STILL EAT ALL THE FOODS THEY SAID YOU COULD NOT EAT....YOU ARE NOT THERE YET. HANG IN THERE....YOU WILL FIND YOUR SWEET SPOT.

    Slight "discomfort" In Throat

SEE YOUR DOC..........I LEARNED THAT SINCE MY BAND, MY ALLERGIC/THROAT REACTION IS HORRIBLE. WENT TO MY SURGEON AND MY MD. SURGEON GAVE ME A GOOD TO GO....SUGAR FREE COUGH DROPS.????REALLY ??? MD GAVE ME 2 ALLERGY SHOTS AND NOW TAKING SINGULAR. MOST IMPORTANT GET AN ANSWER FROM A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL........
  12. I am down 72 pounds since 11/30/11. I was told to eat from a measuring cup starting the day of surgery. Never eat over 1 cup of food..and only 3 times a day. I do a greek yogurt for the am & pm protein snack. My surgeon also says....no sugar....no/few carbs....50+ grams protein a day. Still eat from a cup, try really hard to get all my water in. I watch my calories, staying around 1000 a day, not much exercise (waiting for a new knee). Do you have restriction? If not follow the 1 cup rule....if you eat less you will start to lose....each person is an individual...and our loss is individual to us. Hang in there...it will get better...DO NOT HESITATE TO GO BACK TO YOUR SURGEON EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT LOSING.....THAT IS WHY WE PAID THEM $$$$$$$$$. GOOD LUCK
  13. Have been lucky I guess, no issues that I have noticed. Well maybe I did get a couple seconds looks from several young hot bikers last time we were out riding. The other night we were at dinner with family, I got a stuck (green pepper) and had to leave the table. When I came back my nephew asked; Would you still it now that you know all the problems? ABSOLUTELY !!! An occasional stuck is the least of my problems....the fact that at a recent family funeral no one recognized me was the icing on the cake, that I did not eat.
  14. Why not ? Eating out will always be an issue for us...... Breakfast....hot cereal/yogurt Lunch... soups. Dinner.. I always suggest Mexican when given an option. I order a ground beef taco and beans... mix the taco filling with the beans...toss the shell ! Eat just a little. Remember nothing is worst than getting a STUCK while out on the town. Enjoy your trip...........

    Does Anyone Eat Bananas?

    Not me....too much sugar...
  16. Coming up on my 6 months. I have lost 70 pounds and am finally in UNDERLAND. This has been exciting and rewarding in so many ways. Fills went great...had 1 overfill and that was painful. Went from a 24W in jeans to a 14 regular. My husband banded the same week and is down 79 pounds. Life is good....
  17. What I have heard, take it for what you want.. most doctors will not do a band if you smoke. My surgeon does a nicotine test prior to surgery, and requires 6 months of no smoking prior to surgery. Smoking does not appear to be an issue with the bypass...
  18. After I posted my big loss; lots of stuff going on a death in the family and my husband had knee surgery. Was really concerned that I would return to my old habits...NOPE. lost 3 more pounds. I have knees waiting for surgery so my exercise is limited to my work schedule. I have not had a piece of candy, any type of sweet, no soda, and mostly NO CHIPS. I was scared to death my hair was going to fall out so I really hit it hard on protein, Oh Yea shakes are the best 32grams of protein. Have to admit I am hooked on Greek yogurt, another big protein. My big treat each day is dinner....typically have a small baked potato and meat. I love my baked potato. Most important we did it together life was easier. Best advise ????stay away from slider foods and drink lots of water, tea, my doc said coffee is fine also. Thank goodness. Went to the family funeral.....and no one recognized me....so cool.
  19. My husband is 46 days out and got the worst case of gout he has ever had. Possibly the high protein. He has been taking Uloric for 2 years and been gout free until now.
  20. I typically check new members a few times a week. After I checked this morning 11/22 there are several that their information is bogus including kids and reports of weighing 60 pounds after a 60 pound loss. Surgery dates that are older than the are. I love this forum, however I do not plan to put my self out there for ridicule or for someone to have a laugh on. Why is this not monitored ! I will be leaving this board today for this reason.
  21. Up 4 times during the night to pee. This is one issue of the pre-op I did not anticipate.

  22. Day 4 pre-op. going WAY better than I thought it would.

    Nsv...yay!

    You go girl ! Congrats
  25. Our nurse navigator said that PCP records take the longest...some times up to a month. We go to a small town clinic where we have a relationship with all the staff. I spoke with the clinic manager, and she prepared our medical records in advance of receiving the request from the Center. I would make the face to face contact. Take a proactive stance and you can usually get it done. Good Luck
