  1. I would love to help. I was just commenting the other day to dh that people are so strange. I was going into the local supply store and a guy nearly hurt himself running across the street to make it to the door before me just so he could hold it open. Now 130ish lbs ago (heavier) that would have never happened even if I was struggling with my arms filled with packages. I know this for absolute certainty because I was the big girl bringing packages and no one would move. But now I guess they think skinny me "can't possible open a door, it would be too heavy for my poor little arms & wrists. . ." (Saying it in my best Southern Belle voice) Lol people are funny. At least to me.

    Pics

I just really wanted to post a couple pics of my year journey. I am a little late with this but better late than never. I hope I have this photo thing figured out. I have been working with this all morning. I will definately have to come back and post some full body shots so you guys can really see the difference. But I will repeat my stats for you here. I started a 298lbs wearing 22's & 24's at 5'7. I now weight 170-171lbs wearing 6's & 8's still 5'7 lol. The first two pics were on vacation to my hubby's home state. And the last is recent, November as a matter of fact. We took some family photos. Lost 128lbs and countless inches. Started my journey April of 2010 with a seminar. Had my surgery 12-14-2010. I have not looked back since. I am very greatful to God for this blessing. I would not be the person I am today without it.

Thank you guys so much. I want to tell anyone and everyone that feels like I felt that they can have a better quality of life. I know my quality has improved 100 fold.

    Help! Not Sleeping :(

Oh how I missed sleeping on my stomach right after surgery. Like the other poster said I could not sleep on my side either. My hubby brought in my mom's recliner and I slept in that for a few days until I could sleep on my side. Eventually I was able to move back to my stomach. I didn't try the sleep aid meds, but I did nap alot, whenever my body called for rest I did not resist it. I remember telling my mom it was like right after I had my children, you nap when they nap, catch that rest whenever you can. LOL your sleeve is a brand new baby, catch some Zz's whenever possible.

    Surgery Update

Yes you should be good and sleeved now. I am so happy for you. Oh and Welcome to the Loser's Bench.
  7. It depends, on my mood. I find myself having these periods of craving something all the time, and that will be all that I will eat. I will eat it for Breakfast lunch and dinner. I know not the best thing from a nut point of view. But then it's like a phase or something, because it will pass and it is on to the next thing. I don't know but I make sure to get all my fluids in.
  8. Okay, tell me why people are concerned all of a sudden, with how small I am getting and how much weight I have or plan to lose? Where was all that concern when I was tipping the scales at 298lbs.? That is when someone should have pulled me aside, citing concern for my health. And where I am weight wise I am by no means a "scare crow." Telling me, men like a woman with a little meat on her bones is not going to con me into not losing anymore weight. Besides my husband, who is the only man that matters in my world, likes to pick his wife up and carry her off whenever he wants. Pssss, and I will tell you a secret, I like that he can do that whenever he wants too. LOL!!!!!! Have a great day sleeve family. Enjoy your successes and let the non-sense just roll off your back.
  9. Like my sleeve sister kgremmy, today marks my 1 year post op. I could not have imagined this and if you would have showed it to me I would have called you a liar. I have lost 127lbs. I can wear size 8 loosely & size 6 nicely. This coming from someone who was 298lbs and in size 22's. I am so thankful to the Almighty God for this blessing. #Lifechanging.

  10. Tomorrow is my 1 year sleeve-versary. I think I am going to put up a pic. It has been a great year, mind blowing. Showed me I really did not know as much as I thought I did. lol. He really has all power and control. Limitless in what he can do.

  11. You are going to do great. The time will fly and before you know it you are waking up the morning of surgery. Like Diva said, Walk walk walk walk, rest rest rest rest, repeat repeat repeat repeat. You will be in my prayers.
  12. Thanks you guys for the responses, let's me know I am not alone with what is going on in my post-op world.
  13. I went through the refuse to buy anything more stage. LOL did not last too long with me. If you don't want to spend much, try your local thrift store like Goodwill or a consignment shop. I get to try on tons of clothes and if I buy something it will not cost me a arm and a leg. And it usually tides me over until I am really able to shop like I want to.
  14. Oh I forgot one...The ladies will most likely feel me on this one. I can put on my bra without clasping in in front of me first and then turning it around my body while it is still clasped. I can actually clasp my bra by reaching my hands behind my back. Woohoo!! My husband brought this to my attention the other day...I was doing it the clasp in front way and he was like why are you clasping your bra like that, why don't you just hook it behind you, that way you won't have to spin it around? I actually stopped mid way through turning it and thought about it. I realized that I had learned to do it that way when I was big and could not reach behind my back to hook it...but I can do it the regular way now. Huh funny how somethings we do out of a fat friendly habit and forget we can do it like our normal, skinny counter parts.
  15. This is an awesome topic...I love it.....I have a couple, first it is the fashionista in me has come out, When i was bigger I would try to wear heels and by the end of the day I could not wait to throw them across the room...Now I wear heels evryday to work and I even go shopping after work in them, lol my mom said just yesterday, "now you are just showing off." Lol it's not that, it is just, now I can do it and do it comfortably. Second...I feel like I match now. The person I am on the inside(in my head) matches who I am on the outside. I am the wife and mother I always thought I was on the inside. Now there is now photo that shows me as really being obese. I match inside and out. LOLOLOL I hope that made sense. Happy Friday everyone.
  16. Just you wait, in no time you will be adjusting your mirrors and your seat trying to compensate for the incredible shrinking you. Congrats so happy for you!

    Channel Ring Sizing Question...

My rings have been resized more times than I can count on this journey. I was going to wait until I finished losing weight to have them resized, but I hated the ring guard things and I really wanted to wear my rings. Thank goodness for Gordon's lifetime warrenty, re-sizing is free. My highest size was an 11 1/2. I am now at an 8. I'm sure I am much smaller than that though, but I have been sitting at this size because I think the staff is tired of seeing me lol. One of the ladies told me she needed to do whatever I was doing. And she is by no means obese in my opinion. I just hate for them to be loose. They darn near slip off when I wash my hands, which I am constantly doing as I hate germs and it is cold season.
  19. I usually eat 2 Fiber one bars and something is bound to move within a few hours. But a couple weeks ago, after about a week of forgetting to eat my fiber one bars, nothing seemed to work and I was super uncomfortable and it was 10 o'clock at night. (TMI warning) DH rushed off to the local walmart and came back with an enema and chocolate flavored ex-lax. I opted for the enema. Worked in seconds. I have noticed that alot of folks say less in so less out, well boy oh boy that was not the case with me. I definately needed the assitance. Hope TMI was not too bad.
  20. Back on track after 2 Thanksgiving celebrations. Have lost 4lbs in a day or so. Love my sleeve!!!! Wish everyone could feel this in-control of their weight and size. If it was up to me I would have done this years ago, but I am grateful that it was done in God's time and not my own.

  21. That is it exactly, you are parting with the biggest frenemy in your life. It has been there through good times and bad. You could turn to it no matter who what when or where. It would not judge or harass you. Just be there with open arms, or rather open buffet. You have made the biggest and best decision ever to divorce your Frenemy food. But you guys will have a positive relationship on the other side of surgery. It will be like those people who hate each other when they are married but once they are divorced they are the best of friends. Just my take on things. This is a physically and emotionally taxing journey. I will keep you in my prayers.

    My Bad Habits Are....

Boy Oh Boy!!! Confession time, I have stopped exercising all together. I don't feel like eating food food, so I live on melted cheese and peanut butter. I purposely ignore the scale so I dont have to face the music. I think I have lost my mojo.

By George! Dare I Say Thin?

Sorry so late. Happy Belated Birthday. And you look absolutely fabulous. I agree with evryone else you do not look a day over 30. Congrats and wishing you so much happiness and joy.
  24. Happy Thanksgiving week to you all!!! I know we all will probably be a little caught up in the festivities and family, So if I don't get it out now I probably will forget. My house will host Thanksgiving this year, so as you can imagine there is much to do.

  25. God is soooooo Good!!!! I have tears in my eyes right now. A financial weight has been lifted off my shoulders all by the grace of God. As I look back on the situation I can see the hand of God at work. And I am so thankful that he has me covered even when no one else does. Thank You my heavenly Father. I praise your name.
