    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

For me at first it was 700 - 800 til I started working out and end it up stalling my weight loss cuz I wasn't eating enough when I'm working out 5- 6 days a week I usually eat 1,000 - 1,200 calories and my weight will keep going down. And yea every now and then I have to up my calories to get things moving. Just have to find what works for u

    Hey July Sleevers

Thanks. I worked my tail off by working out 6 to 7 days a week and really watching what I ate and drinking at minimum 64 oz water a day. And the weight would slow down periodically but it really slowed down for me in the 7th or 8th month. And it went really slow but when I wasn't losing lbs. I always measured myself and was losing inches so that helped and now it's all about watching my intake cuz it's much easier to eat now and my weight shows it haha I have myself a number I don't let my weight get to and when it's creeping up its time to eat cleaner and exercise more. don't worry it does take time. I was not a fast loser. My doctors said I averaged during my first year a 3.5 lbs a week loss. I never dropped huge amounts at a time.

    In the early stages...

Cat - well for me I can eat a cheeseburger but I can eat one not 3 now which is nice but your tastes do change somewhat grease and sugar for me just doesn't taste very good but there are times I will let myself eat that. My nutritionist told me as long as I watch my calories and get my protein and eat 80% good then the other 20% I can have bad for me foods but not to make it a regular habit. Do I still struggle with my mind wanting that stuff? Yes but it doesn't control me anymore thanks to my sleeve. I know that if I want a small burger I can have it but most of the time I find I choose healthier options. After losing 135 lbs I know that I would rather stay healthy and at a lower weight then to keep eating that stuff and gain, which if I eat enough the lbs do creep up again but I will catch it and then drop them again. And as one of the other posts said I really really like being able to go shopping off the rack now instead of just buying jewelry cuz it's all that will fit good luck to u

    In the early stages...

I am a year and 5 months post op and I can eat foods together but have to be careful with something's like breads, tortillas because they fill me up too much before I can add my protein. So I still start with protein first and then I can have a bite or two (small bites of breads). For me the portion size wasn't tough because no choice after the surgery, but I struggled because my mind tells me I want more food then I can actually eat. But I can tell you that I can eat anything I want in small portions but I have to make sure to get the foods in that I need first. good luck.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Well I am unlike others that stayed at 600 to 800 calories because when I was working out as much as I do now and only eating that few of calories I WOULD NOT lose it was frustrating. I upped my calories to 1,000 to 1,200 and I am 8.5 nearly 9 months out and I lost pretty regular up till the 6 month mark... You can try it and see. But for me 800 calories my body thought I was starving it so it wouldn't let any weight go. If I feed my body it let's the weight come off... of course it's really slowed down now LOL but I have 40 more lbs till goal. Good luck gotta find what works for you and stalls can last anywhere from 1 week to 2 months.

    Hello

I would possibly look into another doctor too, the first time I saw the psych for my eval. she made me see her 2 more times afterwards because she was worried about my depression. Reason being she said because after surgery people can get really depressed because of the emotional roller coaster. Good luck on finding a new doctor and getting cleared

  21. Hello My name is Marcia, I use to be addicted to drugs but got clean and then got married and never realized until yesterday that I had an addiction to food. I have WLS tomorrow July 13th and the pre-op liquid diet showed me just how addicted I was. I talked to my therapist on Monday and she told me what I was describing was a food addiction. It's about control for me. Just like drugs were and then you realize you never were in control I come from a family with a lot of addictions; Drugs, Alcohol etc. A lot are clean from one thing and then substitute a new addiction. I am hoping that now that I know this and can have help from my therapist I will be able to succeed in finally losing the weight I have packed onto my body.
