    Suegery Scheduled Nov 15th

I think everyone has a fear of the unknown. Having to wait as long as I have there have been times that I think what am I doing! And then I see the progress of so many and say yes that is why I am going to do this. I have no advice as to how to over come this. I think everyone has to deal with this scary unknown in their own way. Hope this has helped. Lily

    Cindy's Story

You are taking charge of your own health. I say kudo's to you! You might want to sit down with your teens and discuss why they are not being supportive. It could be due to not knowing enough information about the sleeve surgery. There is alot of support here on the boards. It might be good to find a buddy on here that you can just talk too when you are feeling overwhelmed. Lily

    Here is my story....

Wow it seems there are several people that have had problems with the band. Too bad you had to wait 3 years to find out that there was a leak in the band. I doubt your doctor who left knew there was a problem but you were ment to meet the new doctor and find a positive out come. Keep us updated on your progress. Lily
  10. You could go to a mall and walk around. Its indoors which is safe and warm and you can see what is in the stores for the season. Lily

    travel and timing of surgery?

I have not had the surgery yet. But I have heard from some that they were ready to get back to work within 1 week and others needed longer. I guess it is up to the way you heal and overcome the gas that is pumped into your abdomen. I can not say but maybe others that have had the surgery will be able to let you know what to somewhat expect. Lily

    Oh the doubts!

Just an FYI the sleeve is the first step in a duodenal switch. So you could try the sleeve and if you are not progressing as well as you like then you can get the second portion on the surgery that would include the malabsorption (DS). Lily

    Which Scales Do I Believe?

Doc scale would be more accurate. Make sure your scale is on level ground and not carpet (they can both give off results). Gayle I think eveyone would love to have your WII fit scale :-) Lily

    Staples come out post-op??

I am assuming the staples that were removed were used to close the areas on the abdomen where the instruments went in. The staples used on the stomach will stay in for life. Lily
