Yea you won't feel the restriction as much just drinking the liquids. They go right down. Take advantage of that because you need as much liquids as you possibly can get now! It's so important. Believe me when u start solids you will notice ! Good luck

Less of Leslie reacted to ouroborous in Why Do We Lose Our Hair?
It is common to lose hair after any surgery, it is called telogen effluvium (see for example: http://www.follicle.com/section2/5.html). This is unfortunate, but unavoidable. The good news is that it is completely reversible; if you can live with its effects for a few months, your hair should come back as thick as before.
It's also possible to have thinning hair (technically a slowdown in the regrowth portion of the hair cycle) after weight loss surgery due to Protein and Iron insufficiency. This is avoidable as long as you make sure that your blood levels are sufficient; generally speaking, if you follow all of the doctor and nutritionist guidelines to the letter, you should be able to minimize this variety of Hair loss.< /p>
Biotin and silica, unfortunately, don't do much for telogen effluvium, which is the initial hair loss after surgery that most people complain about. They MAY help (studies are inconclusive, IIRC) long-term after WLS to keep your hair healthy. But they won't really slow down that initial, alarming hair loss. Best thing is just to try to cope with it and realize that it's temporary, and adopt an attitude of "okay, my hair isn't as pretty right now, but that's just temporary, and every OTHER part of me is improving in health and appearance."
And also try to take good care of yourself

So, whenever I would get out of the shower, I would wrap the bath towel around me backwards, leave the back open because it didnt fit, of course....unless it was a beach towel. Well, yesterday I decided I would try to wrap and tuck the towel, see how far I was from being able to wear a bath towel out of the shower...IT WRAPPED, and IT TUCKED..and it was CLOSED!! NOT A BEACH TOWEL, A REAL BATH TOWEL! LOL! I felt normal for once!
I am also excited to announce that I bought a few dresses from Old Navy and of course I go STRAIGHT to XL. Well, they are WAY too big! L is even a little too big. I bought 3 in L and 1 in Med, the Med FITS!! I would like to lose 10 more before I wear the med...just to feel a little more comfortable. I have had to purge my closet AGAIN, I am running out of clothes! But it is great going shopping! I almost got emotional in Old Navy. My head still hasnt wrapped around the weight loss. That is my only hold back. I don't always see the 70 lbs gone.

Congratulations on the results of all your hard work! This was so helpful to me because you used dress sizes, not just pounds. Depending on height, starting weight, build, etc, sometimes the pounds don't really help me see the change. But when you throw in towels and dress sizes...I GET IT!!! And I'm very happy for you

I cleaned out my closet about a month ago. I posted on here if anyone wanted my stuff, I figure we are all at differant stages and having to BUY new clothes every few months is hard. Most people are willing to pay the shipping. Just a thought.
PS. I need to go thru some more clothes again!

The people that judge don't understand our struggles. "A real strict diet? WOW!!!! Why didn't I think of that?!" If you are comfortable with your decision and have weighed your options, then good for you! When the Nay Sayers approach you, just change the subject. They will get the message, ESPECIALLY when you are post op and down 60 lbs! It does get to be very tireing (sp?) having to defend your decision to ignorant loved ones. Stay strong sister.

My 13yr old aughter had a dance coming up. So,I bought her a dress, size 14 miss. About a week later, before the dance, she went into a different store and came across the perfect dress for her. because the first dress was on clearance for only 25 dollars I bought her the second dress. just outta curiosity I decided to try on the 1st dress. btw I thought it was gorgeous! I was stunned, emotionally overwhelmed, thrilled and shocked to discover that the dress not only fits but it's actually big around my waist section. Yay mama got a new dress! I will post a picture when I get a chance I just had to share this with you all immediately!!

Same as others- I often share with whoever I'm eating with. I've also discovered the joy of creative ordering - side dishes, appetizers, and a la carte items are great!

Well, my definition of what a meal is has changed. When I go out with co-workers or friends that don't know my story, I can eat a whole meal. Now, what does that consist of? A side salad and a cup of soup!
Now, if I am out with my wife or her family, who know my story, I usually don't order anything at all. Everybody cuts off a bite and throws it on a salad plate. That is eating a whole meal to me. Everything changes with the sleeve and what we call a meal needs to change, too, otherwise we lament the days of overeating, which can do us no good.

So, just had a really positive NSV this evening when my hubby and I took our two kiddos to the carnival in town.
I can ride all the rides without smushing my guts into them and feeling like the restraints would give at any time. I tell you it was really a good feeling to just hop up on the ride, pull the harness down and go!
I didn't feel like people were starring at me anymore! Awesome NSV!!!

I know your pain. I have lost 60 lbs total and still see the old me. I am going down sizes, fitting into clothes I haven't worn in YEARS, but I still see the same old fat me. But guess what....We did something about it! We will not be this way forever. Even though it feels like we woke up fat, it happened over a period of time, just like the loss will take some time.
You need to realize that you have lost 50 lbs that you will never gain back. You are making better choices in your life and you are progressing towards your goal. It really is a journey.
Keep your head up Chica and keep on truckin'. You'll get there.
