  1. I was very nervous to speak to my PCP because I never met her. It was my 1st time seeing her and I went in EDUCATED about what I wanted with guns blazing for a referral. Of course, at first she asked why would WLS be the answer. But I knew what I wanted and what I was talking about. She had no problem setting up the referral. I think it will make the differance if you can talk to her and know what you want and why. I think it would be best if you could have a face to face with your PCP. Just remember, your Dr works for YOU. If she is not willing, find another Dr who is. I have a friend who had Roux-en-y thru Kaiser. She said there are some hoops you have to jump thru, but if your serious, it will be worth it.
  2. Thanks for the update. 5DogMa and I have the same Dr and I am concerned for her.
  3. How did you feel being at work? Did you get tired? I am only 8 days out, but i do feel tired. I want a nap half way thru the day. How was your energy?
  4. Congrats!! Your video really inspired me. I'm sitting here smiling from ear to ear with tears in my eyes. Your kids look so happy for you. What an amazing support system to have now. I admire the strength and courage you have found to break free from your bondages and break thru to new life. Congrats again!
  5. I had my "last meal" but not a food funeral. I didn't want to risk gaining weight before I saw my surgeon for my final pre-op.
  6. Checking in from my 1 week post op tpday. Had my drain removed *sigh* FINALLY! Drum roll please... I am down 9 pounds!! WOOT WOOT!
  7. I get mine removed tomorrow!! WOOT WOOT!! I HATE MY DRAIN. My drainiage goes red, then clear red, then clear in the tube but clear red in the bulb. My surgeon says as long as its not cloudy or milky yellow, green, etc. The clear is what you want. I can't wait to have it removed, a little nervous too.
  8. My pre-op was 1100 calories 1 week before and clear liquids 48hrs before. My surgeon told me all I really have to do is the clear liquidsd 24hrs before and nothing after midnight. Had surgey on Monday Dec 5, everything went PERFECT!
  9. I am 5 days post op and really trying to find my place with that. I have come to the realization that when I did eat, it was so fast. Everybite I took was in anticipation of the next. I couldnt wait to take my next bite and before I knew it my food was gone. Had I truley enjoyed it? No. I inhaled it before I could enjoy it. Now, with the sleeve, we are forced to SLOW DOWN when we eat, thus, making us actually enjoy every tiny bite we take. At least that's what I think will happen. I am only 5 days out, on liquids, and DYING for a big fat steak and some pasta!! I too am struggling with ending my love affair with over eating, but I just know that my life will be so much better and maybe I will actually TASTE my food from now on!
  10. I am 4 days out now and I miss chewing food! Drinking my food is the pits! I can't wait for Monday so I can have yogurt and soups..something that has some consistency to it!! I am not "hungry", sipping all day. No problems with that Just the need to chew!
  11. Gas X strips really didnt work for me either. Walking really does help. I feel so much better today than I did yesterday. Everyday gets better for me. Congrats Girlie!!
  12. Thanks everyone!! I am starting to clue in, I think I can feel the fullness when I get pressure on my chest and I do start burping! It's all new in trying to figure out this new sleeve of mine. I just want to make sure I don't over do it.
  13. My vlog is less0fLeslie!!
  14. I'm DYING!! I am soooo looking forward to monday so I can have yogurt, soup, etc. I am at the point to where I just want to chew some food and spit it out just so I can have the flavor and texture in my mouth!! GOD HELP ME!!
  15. WOOT WOOT!!! Congrats girlie!! DECEMBER DIVAS ROCK!!
  16. YES!! I am 4 days out and i feel 100 times better today. Gas is almost gone, it is actually finding a way out! It did hurt when I would swallow, I think it's all that trapped gas that can't get out. Just keep sipping, I meam SIP. I take tiny baby sips, just enough to coat my throat. I nurse that 30 ml cup for the full 15 minutes. That is what helped me. I am better now. Woke up this morning with no pian, haven't taken any pain meds today, moving a little quicker. You will get over your hump. It's only temporary.
  17. Ok, So I am 3 days post op and NOW I have all these worries. I had no questions or concerns pre-op but now I am freaking out a little!! So ..how easy is it to cause a leak in my new tummy? I sip, sip, sip all day because I don't want to get dehydrated, but I worry about causing a leak if I sip too much or eat jello or hiccup or burp too hard or cough or ANYTHING! How soft and sensitive is my tummy?
  18. My Dr says it is because the air will fill you aup, and you can stretch out your new tummy. I was planning on using them anyways!
  19. I have a drain. My surgery date was Mon Dec 5. I don't get the drain removed until Tues the 13!!!!! My surgeon instructed only sponge bathing while I have the drain. Not really felling it, but it is what it is.
  20. Congrats! A size 10?! Good job!! I can't hardley wait! It was great to hear that you have figured out what works best for you and your lifestyle. Keep up the good work.
  21. My surgery day was Monday Dec 5. I have been sipping on fluids all day, I've had a serving of jello, just had 1/4c of protein shake...can't tell if I'm full! I know I don't feel hungry, but I don't feel full. Is that normal? I don't want to over do it in my new little tummy, but I am concerned that maybe my new tummy is too big!
  22. Wear to the hospital what you want to go home in. BUT, remember, you WILL be swollen, so make sure it is nice and loose. I wore a loose shirt but my regular capri yoga pants, the pants were too snug to go around my tummy when I came home, I had to sag them a little! And bring some magazines, the wait before the surgery can be lengthy. Good Luck!
  23. Ugh, 1 day post op. The gas is a B!@#$!! I am walking walking. It has gotten better, but it still hurts. How long before it is totally gone?
  24. I'm home! Thanks to everyone fro the well wishes! Surgery went great, gas pain is a little bit of a problem, but noting I can't handle. Up and walking. Taking it nice and slow. I am really happy and proud of my decision.
