  1. Today I had my chocolate/peanut butter Protein shake with skim milk. I used to enjoy them ... for the most part. This morning it took EVERYTHING in me to get most of it down. I don't know if I've developed a milk intolerance or if it's just too sweet now? Whatever the case it was a struggle to get each sip down. I still feel slightly nauseous and I've moved on to drinking my Water with a splash of lemon juice in it. I had surgery 8/17 and I'm going to venture into the world of mushy/soft foods sooner rather than later. I've seen posts where people mention adding flavorless protein to their foods. What is it and where do I get it from? Thanks in advance!!!

I downloaded the app to my phone a while ago but haven't gotten into the swing of using it. I've never used a calorie counting app before this one ... actually I've never counted calories period sooo it was a bit overwhelming initially. When I signed in it had me state how much I wanted to lose & it's apparently telling me how many calories I need to eat per day. Question: Is there any way to customize it for us VSG'ers? I've never looked at it on the PC so forgive me if this is a silly question. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. You're welcome Eddie!! I've never used Crystal Lite ... I usually use the generics. That being said what I started doing is using half a pack. I still get the flavor that I need ... because I really don't like plain water. I haven't taken any meds & haven't had any burning for weeks. Not having that burn is the BEST feeling. As I'm sure you know since yours is gone too. :-)
  5. I'm looking forward to - Wearing a strapless bra that actually works!!! - Shopping at Vickie Secrets for more than perfumes & lotion lol - Being comfortable in my own skin - Not worrying if I will fit comfortably in the seat at the amusement park Yes ... all that healthy stuff too! LOL
  6. I'm a little over 5 weeks out and I'm STILL trying to get this 60g of protein thing together. It doesn't help that I don't like eggs. It seems to be that everyone is eating eggs & cheese for breakfast and that packs a lot of protein. I have to do some experimenting to make myself like them. Maaaaaaybe I can try the breakfast bites from eggface's website???
  7. I TOTALLY agree with the wanting to get confidence back. When I was smalleri was the 1 the 2 AND the 3 you couldn't tell me NOTHING. LOL Soooooo looking forward to feeling that way again. Also looking forward to wearing the Hot Mama dresses. :-) -crossing my legs -painting my toenails without discomfort -walking up the stairs without needing oxygen at the top -shopping at NY&Company again -pool hopping on the strip next summer
  8. I was talking to a friend (she had lapband last year with EXCELLENT results) yesterday regarding what I've been eating. She was giving me suggestions on things that have worked / not worked for her. So I mentioned that I eat Jimmy Deans Turkey Sausage for Breakfast. Then we went on to talk about my slow weightloss. Then she mentioned that maybe I'm eating too much sodium. The turkey sausage has 490mg. I'm not sure how much Sodium you're supposed to have per day?? She suggested egg whites for breakfast but I don't like eggs (unless they're boiled ... with Franks Red Hot Sauce). Then she suggested oatmeal ... but I don't like that either. LOL I need to broaden my food options ... lol Sooooo what's your take on Sodium???
  9. Prior to having this surgery I thought it was the ANSWER to my prayers. I've been on every diet known to man and I've probably tried each of them 2-3 times each. I have struggled with my weight FOREVER. I did have a few good years senior year of high school ... through the age of 22 then it was up up and away with the weight. I feel like I've been on a diet my entire life and I'm SICK of it! So I decided a few years ago that I was going to get the lapband and got denied, denied, denied. So I finally said *&^% it I'm going to pay for it myself and started saving my pennies. Then I heard about the sleeve and researched and watched countless Youtube videos. Which led me to choose it instead of the band. I started my PreOp diet on Aug 4th ... I lost 12lbs from preop to 2 days after surgery. I started preop diet Aug. 4th. I expected to lose because I was STARVING and not eating any food for 2 weeks so I figure HOW can you not lose on this? Today is my 1 month Surgiversary and I have MADE myself not get on the scale everyday for the last week so I could weigh myself today and finally see it UNDER a certain number. I was only 6 lbs away the last time I weighed myself. I figured even if I didn't hit the # I'd probably only be 1-2 lbs away. Which would be the first time seeing my weight under that point in years for me. Soooo I get on the scale and it's 5lbs above that number. I've only lost 16lbs since that 3 day Post Op surgery. I'm kind of sad because I feel like no matter WHAT I do my body just won't lose this weight. This seems like deja vu all over again. Every diet I've tried I've been starving 99.9% of the time and the freaking scale still barely moves. I've tried the stupid diet pills and exercised like a crazy person and the scale barely moves. NOW I've cut out most of my *%! stomach and the scale BARELY moves!!! I am sad and pissed off at the same time. I only told a few people about my surgery but I'm already feeling embarrassed thinking ... what if this doesn't work either?? My mind is spinning and all I can think is ... I actually PAID someone to cut out most of my stomach and I might still be fat the next time friends/ family back home see me because this didn't work either. UUGGGHHHHHHH I just want to rewind the tape and have a do over. If I could lose 12lbs in 2 weeks WITH all my stomach and only lose 16lbs in one month after cutting out most of my stomach I feel like I've made the WRONG decision and this was for nothing!!! Sorry ... I had to vent I'm feeling really bad right now and I'm thinking there's NOTHING I can do about it. It's not like they can put my stomach back in. Super Annoyed right now...
  10. Wow ... I moved across country 3 years ago and since then I've really lost "real" contact with my friends back home. I've only told 1 and she's the one who had lapband last year and looks WONDERFUL now. So she's super excited for me in this process. In regards to all my new frieds I have only told 1. I'm the "big" friend at this point. I think they'd be happy for me but I really don't want the "watchful" eye and all the questions. To me ... that was ALWAYS the most annoying thing when you let people know you're trying to lose weight. Best of luck to all of you!!!!

    Diet Coke

My surgeon said no soda for 6 weeks. There's sooooooo many conflicting stories from pre op to post op. I used to love the waters from Walmart ... I think they're carbonated though. I too need something with a "kick" just water or juice don't always hit the spot.
  12. It seems the body is a wonderful and frustrating thing!!! We go through all this trouble jumping through massive amounts of loops for insurance or saving/borrowing/charging our pennies if we are self pay. Then hop up on that table and count backwards until the lights go out. All the while praying that THIS IS IT FINALLLY!!! Then we eat sample sizes of food and exercise and you would think that our bodies would fall in line and just get with the freakin program!!! Gotta laugh to keep from crying. :-( WE WILL SURVIVE ... AND BE SMOKIN HOT WHILE DOING IT!! :-)
  13. I have decided I will ONLY get on the scale Saturday mornings. This way I won't drive myself crazy all week several times a day. I'm trying to remain confident because I know this HAS to work for me.
  14. Oh my ... this happened to me today. I had some frozen yogurt & Yogurtland and I had the nausea, sweating, hot/cold. I had to go home & lay down. It was horrible. I learned my lesson. When I take my daughter I will stick to just the sample cups. lol
  15. I really think it was the juice because since I stopped drinking the V8 the burn has decreased substantially. I've also not had any of my water mix ins since I posted this thread because I was too scared. lol For a few days it was HORRIBLE. Now I just add lemon juice to my water and that doesn't bother me. For the most part the burn is gone. I'm soooo happy I'm not still chugging V8 with a burning belly wondering what the problem is. lol THAAAAANKS for all the advice and suggestions!!!
  16. Thanks everyone for the hugs and well wishes. In my mind I KNOW I am better off with the surgery but I can't help getting a little depressed when I look at the scale. I think I'm going to force myself to only get on it 1 time per week. I am a scale o holic normally. I'm talking several times a day. It's crazy how that number can change my entire mood! In regards to my starting weight I've NEVER told anyone how much I weigh. Waaaay too embarresing for me. I even tell my Dr. to look away! LOL Let's just say I am on the higher end of the weight scale. Which means my weightloss shouldn't have slowed down yet. I measured myself the day before surgery and since 8/16 this is what's happened. NOTE: My daugher is doing the measuring sooo I "hope" it's in the same place everytime she's 13 and let's just say ... this is a TRYING time. I won't even get started on that stress .... Moving on ... Start 8/16 Today 9/17 R arm 17 15 L arm 17 15 Bust 52 50 Waist 49 47 Hips 55 53 R thigh 31 31 L thigh 32 31
  17. From PreOp diet started Aug 4th to the leak test 2 days after surgery I lost 12lbs.

    Running...

I look forward to giving the Couch to 5K plan a try. At what weight do you think running won't hurt the knees? I still have 2 weeks before I can do anything more than walking. I'm sooooo looking forward to Kickboxing and maybe some Zumba.
  19. I need help with the counting / measurements. For example when you make something like chicken salad ... do you just add up all the ingredients then divide by how much you eat?? Do you measure the chicken breast first to know how many ounces it is which will let you know how much Protein is in it??? Soooooo confused. :-(
  20. Woooow I didn't even THINK about my mix ins. I just got the box and the very first ingredient is Citric Acid!!!! Then ... about 6 ingredients later is Ascorbic Acid .... whatever that is??? Guess I gotta find new mix ins. I actually just took my Omeprozol and my stomach started burning .... lol Could it be the meds?? Geeesh I'm tired of this.
  21. I don't drink coffee, alcohol (yet) ... the only juice I've had lately is V8 splash ... could that be it??? I didn't even think about it ... I'm not going to drink another sip. I eat/drink babybel lite cheese, chicken, tilapia, chicken/turkey deli meat slices, costco chocolate Protein shakes & Water (with flavorings) .... that's it. :-( I stay hungry ... but now I don't know if I'm hungry or if its the acid. :-( Looking forward to relief!
  22. Uuugghhhhhhh :-( I called my surgeon and he told me I can take 1 pill in the morning & 1 at night. I tried to do that but ended up having to take 2 because it was burning so bad. I think I need something waaaay stronger. It wasn't this bad before ... now it seems to be getting worse. The Dr. suggested I get some Nexium but when I went to Wallymart at the crack of dawn they said it was in the pharmacy and they were closed. I will be going back ... I'm going to look for a liquid form. :-( this suuuuuucks!!!!
  23. I had surgery 8/17 and the scale jumps between 9-11 lbs lost NEVER more. As I read, read and read others posts I see stats that look a hell of a lot better than mine in the same amount of time. People are really LOSING some weight and I don't understand why I'm not. It's super discouraging at this point especially when I'm hungry all the time. I can totally relate to the "will this surgery work for me fear". I will admit that I haven't been able to keep my Protein shake down so I stopped trying to drink them. I was allowed to drink protein Day 10 from surgery date. I get really nauseated on my milk based whey protein and end up throwing it up. The ISOPUKE is disgusting and I can barely take a few sips. According to my diet plan I'm on liquids until Day 22 which is next week. At that point I hope to get in my protein from foods. I'm also going to GNC or the Vitamin Store to try to find some unflavored protein. I've mentioned in previous posts I've been really trying to get enough Water down. I'd say I'm probably drinking 40oz of water and maybe 20 oz of Cranberry or Ruby Red Grapefruit juce. I made the Ricotta back last night and did take a few small bites (had no stomach issues) of that because I"m HUNGRY 99.9% of the time. I also blended a bowl of Progresso Soup and had 1/2 cup servings for about a day (only did this for one day though). Other than that ... all I have is water and juice. Maybe my body is in starvation mode and holding on to all the weight? I don't know what to do. I'm very discouraged at this point and really trying to keep hope alive. I feel like ... damn I did all this and I'm HUNGRY plus STILL not losing weight. The story of my life. When exactly is the "best losing period" that everyone speaks of? I'm scared that I'm already off to a slow start. Just needed to vent ... break out the violins ...

    loosing slowly

I feel like I'm on that slow moving train also. I had surgery 8/17 and I've lost 14-16 lbs depending on the day. I hope I can say I've lost a solid 20lbs when my 1 months surgiversary comes along but it's only 4 days away so we shall see. I'm NOT getting on the scale again until the 17th. I'm trying not to be discouraged because I guess I'm technically still a "newbie" but it's pretty difficult for me not to be nervous and think this isn't going to work for me. My surgeon told me to wait 2 more weeks before I hit the gym. I really hope that the kickboxing and zumba and strength training will help. PreOp when I'd work out and eat better and I'd always get the "have you lost weight" questions ...but the scale wouldn't move an lb. For some strange reason my body LOOOOVES to hold on to excess weight. <sigh>
