Did You Have A "drain" Post-Op?

Yes, had a drain but they took it out the next am before I left the hospital. It was no big deal tho.

    Gurgles

Lol! I have them too! I dont know of anything that helps, if you hear of anything , let us know. If I hear of anything I will post too! How are you doing since surgery? Loks like you had yours a few days before me. I am doing great, no issues whatsoever.

    Hard Day!

I am sorry you are having a rough time. I dont understand the two week pre-op diet, seems stupid to me. I had to do a 2 day clear liquid diet , my doc says that is just fine. I know they want you to lose some weight before surgery but I had no problem doing that since I had 4 months between my first appt and surgery. They should make them all like that in my opinion. Hang in there, keep us posted on how you are doing.

New To The Board- 7 Days Post Op

You are doing great, keep up the good work. I was put on prilosec for 6 months after surgery , standard procedure, I am glad! I was also put on Actigall for gall stone prevention for 6 months. I had a hard time with the protein drinks too, Isopure is discusting, the only drink I like are the muscle milk lights, I get them at costco. Welcome to the losers bench!
  6. You are doing great, everyone is different. 12 lbs is 12 lbs, dont think you didnt lose enough. The way I look at it, the slower you lose , the less likely to get saggy skin! I will be 4 weeks out this Friday and I can eat all kinds of things. I have been out to dinner, had fish ceviche ( minus the tostada shell) and I freaking loved it so much I bought all the ingredients and made some at home. We love mexican food so I have had a grilled chicken taco, ate just the meat and salsa, approx 1/4 cup or so, no problems. I can eat pretty much anything it seems, just not a lot of it. Just keep trying new things, it will all fall into place for you!

    Tuna Melt On Wasa

Yum-o, sounds good to me! I bought some Bimbo Toasted Bread, double fiber and it is good too! It is super crunchy, I take one hard boiled egg, chop it up with a bit of low fat mayo and horseradish mustard and that is my lunch. They have another toasted bread to but I havent tried it yet but this one is good, give it a try.

New To The Forum And Five Days Post-Op

Hang in there, you can do it!!! I got lucky, no issues at all. I was up walking 1 hour after getting back to my hospital room ( My surgery was Feb 9th) and was out shopping on the 13th, I just had to get out of the house. I had no gas...thanks goodness, my best friend had the bypass done and was miserable. Sending best wishes to you, it will all get better soon.

    Tuna On Day 13

I did the same, about a week and a half of so out. I had just a bite of thin sliced lunchmeat that I chewed to liquid, it was sooo yummy and no issues. I tried several other things since then, no issues at all. I think as long as you really chew well and take super small bites how can it hurt? It is becoming liquid anyway so... Everyone is different, you do what your body is telling you.

    One More Day!

Hi girls, just checking in with you to see how your surgeries went? Hope all is going well, let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it.
  11. You are doing great, dont sweat it. 20 lbs in a month is good. You are like me, not a high bmi to start so we will most likely lose a bit slower than most. Keepup the good work and dont stress about it.

One Week Out And Doing Great!

I am on Ursodiol for 6 months after surgery, standard policy. Also on prevasid for the same time frame. Were you on Lovenox injections? ( blood thinner to prevent clots) I had to give myself a shot twice a day for a week. Kinda weird but not so bad.
  20. I had my surgery on Feb 9th and one week later...12 lbs gone...woo hoo! I am feeling pretty darn good , I wish I could go back to work. I am not used to being off work , it feels weird. I am wishing I could eat something but I am not hungry, I guess I just miss eating! Best wishes to everyone and thanks for all the support , it means a lot to read everyones success stories.

One Week Out And Doing Great!

Oh Meredit , I am sorry you feel crummy, I havent had any issues with gas or heartburn at all, guess I am lucky since that seems to be very common. I had a stomach of steel beforehand so maybe that helps. I was able to eat anything, love super hot/spicy foods, more than most. Incisions are starting to feel itchy since they are all healed pretty much, cant wait to get the staples out next Friday, btw, did any of you have staples on all your incisions as well? Thought it was kinda weird, sutures seemed like they would have worked. 20 lbs...that is awesome!!!! Keep up the good work and hopefully you will feel better soon. Are you on prescription acid reducer from the doc? I am and also on a gallstone preventative. Maybe call them if you arent and they can prescribe these to you. Take care and keep us posted Meredit!

Woo Hoo! I Am Finally Sleeved!

Bumblebee, there are tons of non dairy protein powders out there, I suggest one vanilla and one unflavored. There are some good posts here about the different protein drinks you can make, there are tons of them from pumpkin pie to orange dream, just start experimenting, you will fins something you like. I use the unflavored in my broth and in my blended soups, it really gets the protein in you need. I was super nervous but now that I look back, there was no reason, you can do it!!!! MoreganK, I think the hardest part was the 2 day clear liquid diet pre op believe it or not, I felt like chewing off my arm!!! LOL! I was soooo freakin hungry! I havent been hungry yet since the surgery, I am having to make myself drink the protein and fluids, which is the important part, you dont want to be back in the hospital on iv fluids because you are dehydrated for sure. After the surgery, it was hard to get up out of bed or get back into bed the first two days but once I was up I was ok. You can do it!!! Best of luck to you both! Let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to give you my experiences. :bounce:
  24. Good morning everyone! I had my surgery Thursday the 9th at 7:30 am , was back in my room and walking the halls by noon! I felt pretty good outside of feeling like I did a million sit-ups. I had the best nurses and doctors at U.C Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, kudos to them, they were so supportive and encouraging thru the whole procedure. I have been home since Friday afternoon and so far so good but it is hard to get the fluids in but I am doing it. I slept a lot Saturday and feel better everyday! It is weird to only be able to swallow a small amount at a time and make sure I take the meds they sent home with me but doing ok. I have to go in today for some blood work and then on the 24th for my 2 week appt. I am praying it keep on progressing as it has been cause I feel pretty darn good! Thanks everyone for posting your comments and success stories, it really helped me make the right decisions and keep on track. Take care and I will post again soon! :cheer2:
  25. I am beyond excited...and a bit nervous!!! I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am, which I am glad I am the early surgery...I am tired of the 2 day clear liquid only diet. Wish me luck everyone and see you on the loser bench!!! Woo Hoo!!!!
