  1. I have lost 130 pounds, work out 5 days a week and was feeling pretty good about myself. Then I tried crossfit.

    Ermagaurd.

I thought I was going to DIE!! That stuff is for the hard core that's for sure! But I got a free week so went a few times lol.

Congrats to you for trying it. It's an asskicker.

  2. Water. Water. Water. Then some more water. And Protein. Make sure you are staying low calorie, lower your carbs and throw in some cardio. I am working on my last 10 as well. It feels good to be that woman who I always wanted to punch in the face for saying, "if only I could lose this last 10 pounds" lol. Good luck. My doc and trainer told me 64 oz of water is just a starting point. Half your body weight (in oz ofcourse) is where you are aiming. Good luck.

  3. Those last ten pounds will come off if you are strict on your carbs. I am pretty close to maintenance so I don't count as close, but the weeks I do super low (20-30) I lose a pound or two. When you first cut the carbs your body drops the weight. Just have to be careful when you start adding them back in. I eat fruit and veggies but try really hard to stay away from the white devils (sugar and flour) once I have a bite I want more more more!

  4. My arms were the biggest part of my big body And I was really worried. Now at 15 months out I still have a little jiggle but it doesn't want to make barf looking at them. I do arms 3x a week, 2 "light" (12 pd dumbbells) and 1 heavy. I have some pretty nice arms, and my back and shoulders look pretty bangin if I do say so myself. I do the skull crushers, kick backs, tricep push-ups, tricep dips.< /p>

  5. I'm 9 weeks post op' date=' down 46 lbs but still want anything and everything white. bread, crackers, potatoes, french fries, rice, etc. And I've tested my sleeve with these things and to be honest have gone over board at times. I dont think I will ever get over this addiction. Anyone found an amazing substitution for carbs yet? I've stopped buying bread and potatoes and that has helped but I want them so bad. I'm also fighting some massive stomach acid which makes me feel hungry even when I'm not. And eating carbs is the only thing that makes it subside. Protein shakes and liquids only make it worse. I'm already taking an Rx twice daily for acid but it doesn't seem to affect it. I feel lost and confused and I am so close to onderland but can't seem to actually get there. I float back and forth from 201-207. Damn those tasty carbs.[/quote']

Yes, you CAN! (Beat the addiction) it's not easy and no I have never found anything that tastes as good as white bread. You try to take my Saturday grilled cheese away I will cut you. BUT it is possible to fight the urges. At first I went cold turkey. Christmas was hard I ❤ Cookies and baked 100 dozen. Probably ate 2. (Or 3 I quit counting) then I added veggies back, then some fruit. I try to stay away from the "refined" sugars. You know the sugar all the good stuff is made with. I can't do super low carb for long periods, I do 5-6 hours of cardio a week I feel like poo if I don't have bananas or apples. Just try to fight the good fight is all the advise I can give you

  6. The more Water you drink the less you hold on to. Your body is afraid if water starvation so if your not giving it much its going to hold on to it. Also, the 64 oz is just a generic starting place for all people. My trainer recommends 1/2 your body weight in water intake. in oz. ofcourse (caught myself this time BTB ???? )

  7. I've just been doing a lot of reading about Maximum Aerobic Function (MAF) zone. It was developed by a guy named Phil Maffetone who has trained many endurance athletes including Mark Allen who is a 6 time Iron Man triathlon winner. He preaches that if you stay in your aerobic zone you will burn fat for fuel rather than glycogen and you will be able to sustain it for so much longer. The interesting part is they claim that if you train in that zone your performance will gradually increase over time but your heart rate will stay the same' date=' meaning you can go farther and faster with less effort while still burning fat. The MAF zone is a basic equation of subtracting 180 minus your age and that gives you the upper end of your zone. The zone is a range of 10 beats per minute so you subtract another 10 to get the lower and upper zone to train in. There are also a few other contingencies like you subtract another 10 from both totals if you are completely out of shape and have not been training.

The end result is you train at a relatively easy aerobic effort that keeps you strictly in the fat burning zone and out of the sugar burning zone (anaerobic). I personally can't say for sure how well it works but if anyone is interested in training for endurance events it's worth researching.[/quote']

My trainer does the 180 thing. I didn't really understand the equation and scientific process thoroughly, I just heard a number and tried to stay with it lol

  8. Yes....honestly I would do planks before I did crunches. Crunches suck. But really' date=' you need a well rounded routine like mentioned above to work the entire core. Crunches alone do not target the entire abdominal core very well. Except....I would do bear CRAWLS....not "bear claws". Bear claws are what got a lot of us in this mess. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Baahaa yeah what he said. I ❤ auto correct.

  9. It's not just about crunches.

Planks, squats, bicycles, lunges, mountain climbers, bear claws, anything that you need balance and core is going to help with the abs. You are going to kill yourself at that pace. There are a lot of great ab workouts that take 10 minutes at the end of your workout.

  10. I am getting very frustrated with pant sizes. I'm down 83 pounds. I am currently 174 and 5'5". I so want to be in size 12 jeans. What is frustrating is there are some 14s I can't wear yet! I am only 20 pounds from my lightest weight and was able to get into 1 pair of size 8 shorts then. Is there any hope for being a size 10 again? I've had two children' date=' did they wreck that much havoc on my body?[/quote']

Go to Old Navy if you just want to be in a 12, they are sized a little bigger so there 12s are probably a 14.

  11. I dont eat carbs yet so that cant be it. I usually eat around 500-700 calories a day. Mostly Protein with some friuts and veggies. Only drink Water and plenty of it. Exercising daily also. I just dont get it. I have always been a slow loser but man I was hoping this surgery would help more.. Idk. Very depressing and discouraging tho..

I would try more calories. 7 months out your body is probably wanting more food. Especially if you are working out daily. Just remember meat, veg, starch. Good luck.
