  1. I don't think so. I know this is a mixed subject with people. I agree with the doctor though. For me I wouldn't want to be banded and spend all that money and do all that life changing for the chance of knowing I would put on weight when pregnant. Of course I'm not trying to tick anyone off here when I say this, its my opinion and we all have them. Another thing I sometimes see on here are people that are not overweight on here (ok, weight proportioned to height I know) so I'm going o say this. If somene is 5' 7" and they weight 180 lbs and a doctor is going to perform this surgery on someone. I chalk it as a greedy doctor wanting to get rich. No haters please.

  2. You can friend request me on Facebook or send me an email. I work in in Baltimore so your on my way home. So really that would work out great. Used to be easy to say if you would like to meet up for something to eat <haha>, but how about meeting up for some coffee one afternoon if youb like.

  3. I lost weight for myself and me only. My husband told me he loved for me and it didn't matter what size I was. I am fortunate and I know it.

I feel if someone didn't give you the time of day when you are heavy, why would you be willing to give them the time of day when your thin.

My friends and family love me for me no matter what my size.

I work with 99.9% of men in my line of work and my close co workers all know about the surgery and I joke with them all the time and tell them the first one of you that try and flirt with me when I reach my goal weight, I'm gonna drop kick them in the head.

Point being...if someone didn't want to give you the time of day when you were heavy, why would you give them the time of day when you loose weight.

  4. Been there also, my third fill went that way and I had to go have some taken out. Just went back again this past Monday and now I'm up to 4cc's in my band of 10. When I was filled to much it was only at 4.2 cc's. I got reflux so bad and I even mentioned to the doctor how scared I was to get another fill, but I also knew I needed one. I even said to him I don't understand how some days I can eat more than other days. Just like the weight loss were all different he said. Don't get too discouraged if you have to go for that unfill, it beats the heck out of being miserable. Although I must admit, when I was too tight, I could see at that time how someone could actually loose 20 or 30 lbs in a month, because I couldn't eat anything. Truth be known, I'd rather loose 5 lbs a month and be happy I'm loosing and not gaining then be miserable.

  5. I understand. I was at 4.3 and got reflux so bad. The doctor took me down to 3.8 and now I'm back up to 4 as of yesterday. I asked the doctor yesterday why do some people seem to have 8 in a 10 and I'm miserable at 4.3. His answer just like everyone elses is were all different. Same as weight loss...some loose faster than others. I'm 8 months out and I'm down 53 lbs. Of course we all want to loose things overnight, but I'll take anything I loose.

  6. When I talked about having surgery with my husband, he said the best thing to me. I love you no matter what size your are. Glad he loved me because I was really startng to hate myself for being so big.

Currently I am 50 lbs lighter than I was when I started the entire process and finally below the weight I was when I first met him.

I'll be glad to be smaller than him someday, but I still have 35 lbs till I get there, but I have faith that it will all come off.

I'm a slow looser, but I'm happy if I loose even 3 lbs a month, only because it's better than gaining 3 lbs.

  7. Wow, I'm currently having the same issue. I just had 0.4 cc's put in my band currently taking me up to 3.5. (This was my 4th fill) .

My fill was done on Friday, March 2nd and I was good all weekend and up until yesterday (Wednesday). All day long my stomach gurgled and the reflux began, it was so bad last night I was sick. This morning the gurgling is back, but the acid reflux seems to be gone. Hope it stops soon. If not, I suppose I will have to give the doctor a call later today to find out what might be going on.

  8. 10 days of liquid pre opt

10 days of liquids post opt, but it was 12 before I got an appointment

    21 days of mushies

    then solid food

Those 10 days of liquids of post opt were pretty difficult I won't lie. Stick with it because you will go through a stage that you will feel like your so hungry you could eat your first born child, but once you start getting your fills it will be much better. Just chew your food really, really good.

Don't get bent on people from this site that are loosing more than you or even the ones that are loosing less than you. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT.

I had Surgery 9/1/11 and I have 32 lbs since surgery, but 45 since I began the entire process last February. I'm fat and I didn't get this way overnight. So as long as I keep loosing on a monthly basis, It's making me happy.

I won't lie, it's taken my until this past month to really figure out how this band works and how to make it work for me. Now when I'm full I just package up my food and save it for later. Then IF I'm hungry later and that just depends on the day, I will heat it up later. Do this with every meal. For a month I was sitting it to the side and wanting to continue to eat 10 minutes later, but don't do that. Just put it away. You really will be suprised how little food will make you full.

Again, don't get bent at first if your hungry during certain stages, you might not have any fill. Talk to Dr. McKenna about this before your surgery.

Shoot me an email at kellypboyer@yahoo.com if you need anything else answered that I might be able to help with.
