Hi All,
I'm Martha or Martie from Philadelphia, PA. I was banded on 8/18/2011.

I had my surgery at a hospital. I preferred this versus of a surgical center because of the availability of doctors and nurses as needed. However, I have not heard anything negative about surgical centers.

Thanks guys. I feel a little more prepared.

Hi all, I am scheduled for my first band fill on 10/3/2011. I have the 10cc band. I am wondering if there is a standard number of cc's they usually start you off with and how will I feel after having my fill? I heard some people say it hurts, while others say it doesn't hurt at all. I know I am not going to feel full restriction with my first fill, but I just want to prepare myself for what to expect.

I am very very very happy for you.

I think must of us have altered the numbers to meet our needs and then use the site to keep track of our calories, Protein, fats, etc.... I find it helpful in keeping track of what I ate, how much I ate, and when I ate it. And I love being able to access it on my cell phone.

I had my first experience with this when I started the mushie phase and tried eating tuna. It is very painful. That was almost two weeks ago but I still can not bring myself to eat tuna again

Thanks, Everyone. I believe I have added you all as my new fitness pals

I registered for myfitnesspal some time ago but never really got into it. However, over the last week I've been seeing several post stating how helpful the site has been for everyone. Well, I've started to use and I very impressed. Now I just needs some pals. If anyone is interested in being my friend, I am Keetalove.

I just sent you a request. I haven't really been on that site since I registered a month ago but in looking at it now, I'm sure it will be a helpful tool. BTW, your my first friend

I quit smoking prior to my surgery on 8/18/2011. This weekend I've had my strongest cravings since the surgery. During these times of strong cravings I just keep telling myself how much I don't need them. I think about all the harm smoking does. But I must admit, quitting is so darn hard.

*you
Your not alone. I had severe gas pain post surgery as well. The best things that helped me was walking. Walk, walk, walk. And it does get better. By day 5-6 you will feel a lot better.

I was banded on 8/18/2011. That feeling gets better. It is the swelling and gas. Walking will help to release the gas.

I was banded on 8/18/2011 and I lost 11 lbs. My weight of my oversized hand bag.

Thanks everyone. I'm only 10 days out of surgery and don't plan on having a drink anytime soon. My doctor also states I should wait 6 months post surgery, however, I was wondering if others waited the actually 6 months or if there doctor's told them something different. I'm not sure if I will be able to wait the full 6 months.

How long did everyone wait post banding to have there sip of alcohol?
-
I also had my surgery on a Thursday and I went back to work the following Tuesday. I have a desk job. If you have a job that is not physically demanding you should be fine.

I was told to wait at least six months before i consume any alcohol. And from what I understand you have to wait possibly at least two weeks after surgery before sex. I am exactly one week post op and my f/u appt is not until 8/31/2011 to ask my doctor about the sex thing. I plan to ask my doctor at my appt. Hang in there

Congrats, honey. Welcome to bandhood. We all in it together so let us know if you have any questions. The gas pains get better come post op day 3-4, just keep walking and sitting up right as much as possibble.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if the weight gain was suppose to happen or not. I appreciate everyone's input in helping me understand the changes my body is going through.

Hi All,
I am 6 weeks post op and so far I have mostly been walking. I have a new found love for the Leslie Sansone 1,2, and 3 mile walking videos. I have a few other DVDs, however, the walking ones are by far my favorite at this time. I'm just wondering what others are doing. My best friend, who has no idea what it's like to be severely overweight, suggested I run. However, that option is happening no time soon.
What exercises do you like to do and how often do you exercise. So far I have been committing to about 4 days per week.
