Not Sure What I'm Doing Wrong

It sound like you have less to lose. I had about 120 pounds to lose, banded on 2/20/12, lost 35 pounds so far with 3cc, but it sounds like I have more to lose. The less you need to lose, the slower it comes off.
  2. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and the surgery was 17,000 and I paid 647 once all the bills came in, which gave me free fills and office visits for life so I don't ever have to pay a co pay or anything.
  3. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and after I did my supervised diet and my testing I submitted on a Tuesday and got approved on that Tursday.

    Teenagers Getting Wks?

I think it depends on the maturity of the teen. I wouldn't suggest wls for any under 18 but I am 19 and have done just fine with it.

So Ready For My Next Fill!

Thanks for your stories everyone! I am hoping my doctor will try at least another 2 or 3cc. I tried to schedule it a little earlier but he only does fills on Fridays.
  8. I had my first fill a week ago today and it is 2cc in a 12cc band, which didn't really do anything for me. I have my next one on Friday the 6th and I'm hoping I get some restriction with this one. I know it's different for everybody, but I'm curious, how long did it take you to get to your "green zone" and how big is your band? Thanks!

    How Often Do You Weigh?

I weigh whenever I'm in the bathroom ha ha. I just get curious but I don't freak out about it , and I only record it weekly.
  11. I had my first fill today (had myself soooo psyched out but it went great!) and the doctor said to back off for the next 24 to 48 hours. But I am craving something... goldfish. I used to eat them all the time before my surgery but haven't had them since. I always chew them to a sort of baby food consistency when I eat them, so do you think having a few of them would be okay?

MY FIRST FILL WAS A NIGHTMARE

It's strange to hear that the fills hurt for some people. I had my first fill today during my lunch break at work, about 3 hours ago and I feel fine.
  14. Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing good. I had surgery on Feb. 20th and I've lost 20 pounds since they so I'm feeling pretty good. I have my first fill this Friday but I have a question in the event that someone else has experienced this... I am eating fine and I'm on a "regular" diet (off of mushies, onto "regular" food, etc). I have been following the "rules" and all that good stuff, but for the past three days I have been having a bowel issue. It is usually after I eat and it lasts for about 3-4 hours, sometimes more if it's dinner. As I sit here (11:22pm) I am having this issue. I ate dinner at about 8:30pm so it's been almost 3 hours. All the way from my stomach to my butt I hear this weird gurgling sound. It sort of sounds like a hungry sound, but I am in no way hungry. It is LOUD! Like... as loud as hell. It is followed by me often needing to take a trip to the bathroom, which results in a bowel movement (3-5 of them in this 3-4 hour period). And it's not normal. It's pretty much just... Water with a little bit of "solid" to it. Ugh, sorry to make you all read this, but I really wonder what is up? Anybody? Thanks!

    Gluttony Party Scheduled

It depends on what your pre op diet is. Mine was 2 weeks and it was 6 opti fast shakes a day and one bar, I lost 15 pounds

    How Did You Tell People?

I said "Hey I'm having the lapband" and everyone I told either asked what it was if they didn't know or said "Hey cool"

    Just Told My Boss...

I don't think there was anyone at my job that didn't know about it ha ha.
  18. Just a little update, everything is going fine today!
  19. My doctor didn't require much time before going to regular food so I have been off mush since like March 7th but today was the first day it has happened. I see him on Friday for a fill so I will have to remember to ask him. Thanks!
  20. Like honestly... I would have normally gone to bed about an hour and a half ago because I have college in the morning but I'm afraid to go to bed because I can barely control my bowels.

    1 Year Down

No offense, but how can you not be happy with 100 pounds in a year? Would you still have that extra 100 pounds if it wasn't for the band, because it sounds like you weren't doing much for yourself if you needed to lose 150 pounds. Either that or you thought it was going to be an easy fix and went into with insane expectations.
  22. I am on vacation this week and I have had about 5 or 6 pepsi's in the last week. I had my surgery on feb 20th. I had a moment of weakness because I had gone so long without soda. But I am done not to touch another soda. Have I messed up my lapband? Would I notice if I had messed up my pouch? What are the chances that I have messed up my pouch?

    Big Mistake?

Oh my gosh, thanks everyone. I was seriously worried about it, but I am so done with soda now. Thanks!
