    Damn You Torrid!

I was in 26 and now I'm in 22, Maurice's has awesome pants up to size 26!
  2. Hey everybody! Not sure if you need some background info to answer this question or not, but I'll give it just in case. I'm 20, been banded since February, and I've lost 75 pounds. I just had another fill a week ago and I believe I'm in the green zone now. Now, the question. I'm a freak about watching my sugar. I don't eat stuff that has much sugar in it at all because, well I'm afraid to ha ha. But I decided that I want to start drinking shakes for some of my meals as I don't normally do that. So I bought this little Blender Bottle and some SlimFast powder that you mix with fat free milk. Without the milk, the powder has 10g sugar per serving. With milk, it's 22g sugar per shake. That seems like A LOT of sugar to me. Maybe I'm wrong, and I haven't made a shake with he stuff yet, because I'm afraid it's too much sugar. So I guess my question is: Is that too much sugar, in your opinion? Is there another shake that you would recommend? (Something I could buy at a store vs online is preferred, but will consider online too. And college student budget friendly would be nice ha ha ; )) Thanks for your feedback on this!

I Need Some Fellow Bandsters Opinions!

I work full time and am a full time college student, so sometimes that's about all I have time for ha ha. I usually only drink one shake a day, just liked to know what my options were : )

Not sure why you say only 30 pounds like it's a bad thing girl, that's awesome! I'm track on my fitness pal on my iPhone for sure. And I just make sure to stay at or under 1,000 calories every day. That's really about it! Protein first, VERY little sugar, and I try to avoid a lot of carbs. Keep up the good work, you are doing fine!

    Daily Calories

It's funny to see this posted because I asked my doctor about this last Friday when I went in for a fill. I told him I use my fitness pal and it recommends 1300 for me. I never get anywhere near that. He told me that my fitness pal is great, but isn't only a lapband patient app/website because it doesn't take the band into consideration. He said that aiming for 800-1000 calories a day is good. We have to eat less, so we would have to eat worse and higher calorie foods to make the goal that my fitness pal gives us. He said the app/website is still good to use, just note that the calorie goal it gives isn't going to be right for a banded patient. I've been banded since February of this year and have lost 75 pounds, and I almost always hover around 800-900 calories, sometimes a little less. Good luck!

    First Appointment

I've has a few fills and they don't hurt at all. I was really scared, I hate needles, and I couldn't imagine that it wouldn't hurt. My doctor uses lidocaine and it's just a small burning feeling for 3 seconds and the rest is pain free. I was out of work for 4 days, but I have a mostly sitting job. I would say a week should be fine for you. I'm about 7 months out and I haven't thrown up or gotten stuck once. Just be smart with your choices and you should be fine! I'm bad with anesthetic though, so they gave me a nausea patch behind my ear before I went in for surgery and it helped a lot, and I wore it for 2 days ha ha, so don't be afraid to ask for one. Best of luck, feel free to shoot me a message if you have any other questions!
  7. I was a social and occasional smoker before my surgery in February. I'm 20 and would smoke when I was hanging out with friends or stressing out. Maybe 3-4 cigarettes a week? Anyways, my doctor asked before surgery if I was a smoker and I said sometimes. But when he said I had to stop, I did. And like my doctor did, some doctors WILL urine test you on your surgery day. So to anyone who smokes and is afraid of what the doctor will say, think about this: Would you rather quit and suffer through quitting, or be all prepped and excited for surgery only to be turned away on the day of surgery because you had to have a cigarette? Not trying to "bag" on anybody who smokes and I'm sure it's hard to quit if you are a heavier smoker than I was, and I know everybody's surgeon is different, but just something to think about for those who have a doctor who is strict on smoking. And he didn't tell me before my surgery that he was going to urine test me the day of, so I'm just lucky that I listened to his orders! : )
  8. I have a lot of them ha ha. I'm 75 pounds down and have accomplished a few though. I took my 9 year old brother to Worlds of Fun and I could ride all the rides I wanted to expect the Patriot (probably another 30-40 pounds for that one!) I'm in college and I can fit in a desk without my stomach touching the desk part (I almost cried in class when I went this semester and could do that for the first time!). I haven't flown since surgery so it will be interesting to see if I still need an extension. I'm going to Germany in May of next year so I'm sure I won't need it then! I'm in size 24 pants so I'm excited to get out of the 20's! I would love to wear belts! Those are just a few! Good luck to everybody!
  9. If you try that your monthly payment and deductible will be insane. I am on my moms insurance and at the time of surgery I was 5'9 and 350lbs. My mom only had to pay 600 for my surgery because she has kick ass insurance through the hospital where she works, which is also where I had the surgery done in February. If I were you, I would look in to self pay options like care credit. Best wishes

Thanks ladies! I work in the vision center of a Walmart so I'll check that out! And I calorie count on my fitness pal app on my iPhone and I'm never more than 1,000 calories so that part is good. Thanks for the suggestions!

19 And Trying To Figure It All Out

I started looking at it when I was 16 because my dad had it when I was 14. When I was 19 I started the process and was banded 3 months before my 20th birthday. Best decision I ever made. I'm 6 months out and down 75 pounds.

3-5 Foods You Can't Niw Live Without:

    1. Sweet Freedom Ice Cream Bars (2g sugar, no added sugar!) 2. Edamame 3. Apples/Bananas/Celery. A lot of fruits and veggies ha ha 4. Special K crackers 5. Slimfast low carb Protein shakes. If you are really watching sugar make sure you get the creamy chocolate and not creamy MILK chocolate. First one has 2g sugar, the other has 18g.

    Feeling Discouraged..

How often do you see your doctor? What has he/she said? How much fill do you have?

    Sudden Change

Hey everyone. I had my surgery on 2/20 of this year and I've lost 50 pounds so far and going strong. I'm at 5cc in a 12cc band, and I can go about 6 hours between meals without eating. However for the past few days I will eat and then be starving 2-3 hours later! Does anybody know what is with the sudden change? My next appointment is July 3rd for my monthly fill/checkup, should I ask to get in sooner? Thanks!

    Work And Lapband

My doctor required I take a week off (even though my job is at an optical shop so I walk some but nothing real physical) but I felt good enough that if I could have I would have gone back like... 2-3 days after my surgery.

To Tell Or Not To Tell

I'm not saying this to offend anyone, but it's just my opinion. I tell family/friends or if people ask how I've been losing weight because I feel like people who don't tell want everyone to think that they did it all on their own and that's not true. If you could do it on your own, you wouldn't have needed the band. I just feel like it's kind of selfish to say "Oh, just a different diet" or "Oh, just eating better" when that's not the only reason why you are loosing weight; it's because you had surgery.

    Help

  21. I had my mom take my measurements before my surgery. I'm not embarrassed nor ashamed about my size; it's a problem and I'm fixing it.

    Swimming!

I don't think there is really a limit to that, just whenever you feel up for it.
